James Hannibal Yates
1840-1915; 1st Sgt., 2 Battalion, KY Cavalry (Capt. Dorth's); 2nd Dukes KY Cavalry; Denair Cemetery; born in Kentucky; widow Julia H.; came to California by 1910; grave marker says "Captain, Morgan's Raiders, CSA;" died 4 miles east of Turlock, California.
John Phillip Young
1842-1904; Pvt., Cos. B & C, 78 PA Infantry; Oakdale Citizens Cemetery; born in Jefferson County, Pennsylvania; enlisted 08/28/1862; discharged 06/19/1865; transferred from Co. C to Co. B 10/18/1864; wife Sarah A. Murtha; came to California by 1882, moved to Michigan 1898, back to California 1902; pension application #1208681 filed on 07/20/1898 in Michigan; died in Oakdale, California; Dr. Young was active in GAR in Michigan; he was superintendent of schools in Isabella County, Michigan.
Richard Young
1840-1896; Pvt., Co. E, 5 NY Heavy Artillery & Co. I, 2nd US Heavy Artillery; Modesto Citizens Cemetery GAR plot; born in England; came to Empire, California 1880; naturalized 1888 in Stanislaus County, California; left a widow and 6 children; said to have served in both naval and military branches; died at Stonesifer Ranch in Crows Landing, California.
