born in Medina, Ohio; enlisted 05/02/1864; mustered out 09/09/1864 at Camp
Cleveland, Ohio; came to California by 1888; had certificate dated
09/15/1864 expressing appreciation for honorable service from President
Lincoln, also signed by Edwin Stanton; he was the last member of Grant Post
#9 GAR to die (membership had been as high as 150). |

Modesto Pioneer Cemetery; born in New York; widow Abby Jane; residing in
Modesto, California 1869. |

member of GAR; pension application #42707; of 110 men in his Company, only 4
returned; last 6 years were at California Veterans Home - Yountville, where
he died. |
