Thomas Jefferson Ralls
1845-1909; Pvt., Co. F, 9 KY Cavalry, CSA; Oakdale Citizens Cemetery; born
in Missouri; enlisted 1863; widow Sarah Markley; came to California before
1870; Justice of the Peace in Oakdale, California. Daughters of the
Confederacy honored Thomas Ralls at his graveside after his death in
Oakdale, California; he was present at Sherman's siege of Atlanta and among
the group who guarded Jefferson Davis on his escape from Richmond at the end
of the war; Ralls surrendered to Union Forces 05/09/1865 at Washington,
Georgia. |

1841-1905; Pvt., Co. I, 74 IN Infantry; Modesto Citizens Cemetery GAR plot;
born in Indiana; enlisted 08/05/1862, residing at Goshen, Elkhart County,
Indiana; mustered out 06/09/1865 at Washington, DC; came to California about
1875; he was a cook and a teamster; pension application #1058862 filed in
California; he left siblings in Indiana. |

1837-1890; Sgt., Co. B, 64 IL Infantry (Yates Sharpshooters); Modesto
Citizens Cemetery GAR plot; born in Ohio; enlisted 09/28/1861, residing in
Manlius, Illinois; mustered out 10/31/1864; widow Jane; came to California
by 1888; pension application #691862 filed on 03/01/1889; widow's
application #451899 filed on 12/01/1890; suicide by drowning in the Tuolumne
River; 5'7", 155 pounds, red hair and whiskers. |
