Anderson, Donaldson,
Proudy, Tershera |
I am searching for my father's
(George Teshera)
first cousin, Melody Anderson.
She may have taken her step-father's
last name, Proudy.
As far as I know, she has never
married. Her mother was Melva
Proudy, who has since passed away,
and her grandparents were Thomas and
Clara Donaldson
who passed away in the 1960's.
Melody's last known address was
Redding, where she grew up. Any help
with contacting her would be very
appreciative. |

Carroll, Gaines,
Hunter |
I have been searching for a long
time to find a cousin, son of my
great uncle, Martin Carroll. I
learned today that John William
Carroll, born 29 May 1903 in
Nebraska, mother's maiden name, Hunter,
died in Shasta County on 11 October
1966. This is definitely my cousin.
His obituary states that his
survivors, widow, Alta V. Carroll
and a daughter, Maxine Gaines of
Redding and three grandchildren. I
would like to obtain information
about the family and descendents.
Thank you. |

Mary (Mariana) Neto and
brought her back to Shasta County.

Hovey |
I am researching 5
Hovey brothers shown in the 1850
census:
- Captain Clark Hovey 30 NY
- John Baker Hovey 25 NH
- Joseph H. Hovey 31 NH
- Richard Rowell Hovey (also
Rowell Richard) 33 NH
- Samuel W. Hovey 28 NY
Captain C. was killed and robbed in
1857 as the story goes but he shows
up in later voter lists. Samuel
& Joseph seem to disappear. John
and Richard show up in 1860 &
1870 Shasta Co. Census. All had
settled with parents in Boone Co, IL
prior to 1840 and the rush. John
lived out his life there. R R moved
back to Boone Co where he died in
1889 leaving adaughter Mary J. and
Gdau Leonora living with John.
Grateful for aditional info. |

Youngkin |
In the Soc Sec records I found a
Clayton John Youngkin
born 8-31-1877 in Pennsylvania, he
died 12-19-1946 in Shasta County,
Calif. I'm looking for his parents
names. This is an unusual surname.
Also hoping there are still family
members living around this area
somewhere.
This surname is in my family. My
grandfather had a brother who left
MN. they lost touch with him shortly
after that. We're wondering if this
Clayton John could be a relative,
perhaps a son of this brother.
Thanks, please contact me if you
know anything about this person.
Thanks. |

Gibbs, Harrington,
Jones, Sturtevant, Sullivan, Wright |
Are there surnames of
the people who lived in Kennet City
before Shasta Lake was made? I have
a copy of a deed of Ebeneezer Jones with
Charles Sturtevant
that was dated 10 Apr 1920.
Ebeneezer Jones married Jessie Wright (b.
2 Jan 1888) in Douglas County,
Oregon, then lived in Kennett. I
don't know when nor where they got
married. Jessie's parents were
Ezekiel Wright and Nancy Jane Gibbs.
Nancy was called Mary and Jennie by
two different relative families.
Jessie's sister is Ethel and she
married Charles Sturtevant and that
is the connection to the deed. I
don't know where or when they got
married. Ezekiel dies young in 1894
and Nancy has some of her children
raised by others.
From distant relatives they have
letters that say Ethel married again
to a Mr. Harrington
with a son Harold Harrington. With
Ezekiel dying in 1894 Edith would
have been born after 1882 and before
1888. I believe she was born before
Jessie but I could be wrong - for
sure she was born before 1894. Some
of the Wright's moved to Calif. and
I can't seem to find more
information on them nor on Ethel or
Jessie.
Jessie and Ethel's brother, Walter,
lived near Fort Klamath and he
married a Carrie unknown maiden
name. Walter died in July 16, 1965
and maybe Carrie went to relatives
in Calif.? She had a daughter,
Martha Sullivan.
I don't know if Carrie's maiden name
was Sullivan. This family is a
brickwall for me. I am hoping maybe
someone in Shasta County would
remember any of the above names or
that there is information at one
time on them. There maybe be a
chance that cousins or relatives
moved with them? |

Baker, Foster,
Longacre |
Looking for information on a Ella
Mae Baker/Baker-Longacre
born 12-17-1923 in Minneapolis
Minnesota. I believe her parents
names were Charles & Ella Mae Foster.
The California Death Records said
she died at age 33 on 10-02-1957 in
Shasta County, California. I found
this information on the secondre
line where it states her name as
Baker and under it says the same
thing but has the Longacre after the
Baker name. I'm wondering if that
was a mistake and the Long Acre is
where she lived? Hoping someone
might know of or have some
information on this person? If so
please contact me. I am her great
niece looking to find out if she had
family. Thank you. |

Bryant, Gregory,
Houston, Sente, Stanford, Stroud,
Williams |
My ggrandmother was Malinda
Caroline Williams,
born February 7, 1844, in Missouri.
I am lookingfor information about
her parents, Margarette V. Williams
(maiden name may have been Bryant),
born in Indiana about 1818, and ????
Williams. I would also appreciate
any information about Malinda's
twin, Amanda (Lucinda) Emiline
Williams, her brother George
Williams, born about 1840, and her
sister Mary Williams, born ???.
Malinda may have had other siblings
but these are the only ones I could
find living with, or nearby,
Margarette in the 1860 Shasta
census. Amanda Williams married
William D. Houston
on December 9, 1860 and later an
Isaac Stroud
on June 17, 1878. Amanda died on
July 12, 1887.
Mary Williams married John
Frank(lin) Stanford,
but I do not know when or where.
Malinda Williams married Franklin
Leroy Gregory,
and later Charles Sente.
Malinda died March 18, 1927 in
Shasta County. Most of the above
individuals are buried in Redding
Cemetery or Houston Cemetery. Any
information is appreciated. Thank
you. |
