From Interstate 5, take the south Yreka exit and turn west.  At the light, turn left and follow this road until you see the Callahan cutoff on your left, just before entering Etna.  Taking Hwy 3 from Etna to Callahan, drive about 5 miles to Fay Lane.  Turn left or east to East Side Road.  Turn left about a half a mile on the left, (west of East Side road)  across a field, up on a hill. A tall pointed white marble stone with two graves. A red brick, covered with concrete wall with no gate surrounds the graves. Graves of mother and son. Story goes, later a girl working in the house had a baby which died and they buried it outside the wall. There is evidence of bricks covered with concrete, the shape of a small slab,  badly sunken on the east side of the wall. There is no name or marker to indicate if this is a burial.

Naturally honest, kind
and ingenious,
Industrious, enterprising
and prompt,
Cut down in the morning
of manhood,
Oh solac(e) of our hearts,
It is hard to give you up.
