O’Reiley, Martin
Redding Record-Searchlight, January 5, 1950
MARTIN O’REILEY’S DEATH REPORTED
Martin Patrick “Pat” O’Rieley, 58, resident of the Shasta Dam area
for the past eight years, died Sept. 19 at the Mare Island naval
hospital, it was learned today. The his request he was buried
in the military ceremony there.
O’Reiley had worked at Shasta dam and various lumber camps as a
“bull cook” and also had been employed at the Shasta county hospital.
He had been ill for several years. Born in Ireland, O’Reiley
decided to join the American forces during World War I and made
his home in the United States after the war. He lived in
Oregon before coming here.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Omalee O’Reiley of Pine Grove, and three
children, Michael Joseph “Mickey” O’Reiley, 13; Mary Josephine
Rose O’Reiley, 11; and J. Eugene O’Reiley, 5. The family
formerly lived in Central Valley. |
Olson, Robert J.
Redding Record-Searchlight, Thursday, Aug. 13, 1981
Services for Robert J. Olson, 62, of Redding will be conducted at
9:30 a.m. Friday at McDonald's Redding Chapel. The Rev. Rick Green
will officiate. Burial will follow in the Redding Cemetery. Visitation
began at 4 p.m. today. Mr. Olson died Wednesday at Mercy Medical
Center.
He was born Sept. 7, 1918, in Billings, Mont., and was a maintenance
foreman at Bridge Bay Resort on Shasta Lake for 10 years. He was
a member of the Masonic Lodge in Canoga Park, past captain of
the Shasta Lake Volunteer Fire Department, and past commander
of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Canoga Park.
He is survived by his wife Faye; sons Robert of Anderson, Dale of
Canoga Park and Thomas of Redding; brothers Francis of Idaho,
Elmo of Tennessee and Bud of Canada; and four grandchildren. McDonald's
Redding Chapel is handling arrangements.

Overing, William Arthur
Redding Record-Searchlight, January 9, 1950
William Overing Succumbs at 79
William Arthur Overing, 79, former county hospital employee,
died at his Central Valley home Saturday. He was
born in Iowa, and had lived in Central Valley for the
past nine years. Funeral services will be held
at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Wayside chapel. Interment
will follow in Redding cemetery.
He leaves a son, George W. Overing of Central Valley;
a daughter, Mrs. M.J. Mahan of Maumee, Ohio; and a sister,
Mrs. Ina McCormick of Salk Lake City.

The Rev. E. J. Troutner conducted funeral services at
the Wayside chapel yesterday for William A. Overing. Interment
followed in Redding cemetery. Casket bearers were: Harold
Hagen, Arthur Webb, Jena Pederson, Ben Alderson. |

By falling from the Chauncy & Swinford's bridge, on the Sacramento
River, Mr. J. C. Owens, aged 36 years..
