The following books would make welcome addition to the bookshelf of any researcher who is concerned with Sierra County.
The "Surname Index" link following some of the book descriptions displays a list of surnames mentioned in the book along with page numbers. Each surname index was created by a volunteer going through all the pages in the book. Some of the books already have an index that incudes names.
Each "Look-up volunteer" link indicates that there is a volunteer willing to check that publication for references to your people. Click on the volunteer's name to send an e-mail message. Most if not all the listed publications are protected by a copyright. So the volunteer cannot send you copies of pages. The volunteer can only convey the genealogical information (facts) to the extent permitted by the book's author or copyright owner. Since most volunteers are slow typists, they will might not be able to convey large quantities of material from the book (e.g., entire newspaper articles or long letters). In that case, you will have to find your own copy of the book for that information. The volunteer can usually provide points of contact for where to find the book (for sale or loan), where to get permission to extract material from the book and the owners of any photos. The volunteer will normally be consulting the either book's index or the posted surname index when looking for your information.
The amount and type of information provided is solely up to the judgement of the volunteer. The CAGenWeb Project and The USGenWeb Project are not responsible for the accuracy, completeness or legality of any of the information conveyed by the volunteer.
If you are willing to do look-ups for other researchers, please contact the Sierra County Coordinator.
