Agnes Carlson, 87
RAMONA - Agnes Carlson, 87, died Tuesday, May 16, 2000.
Born Oct. 21, 1912, in Canada, she lived in Ramona for 62 years. She was a dispatcher and provided clerical support for a forest ranger station and worked as an accountant for Ransom Brothers for 32 years.
Mrs. Carlson is survived by her son, Don Carlson of Merritt Island, Fla.; and grandson Jay Carlson; and great-granddaughter Elizabeth Ann Carlson of Saint Petersburg, Fla.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 24, at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
The family suggests memorial donations to Elizabeth Hospice, 150 W. Crest St., Escondido, CA 92025.

Jeanne Hause, 81
VISTA - Jeanne Brunner Hause, 81, died Monday, May 15, 2000, of heart failure, at Tri-City Medical Center.
Born May 17, 1918, in Elm Grove, W.Va., she lived in Vista. She worked for the Sweetwater Union School District, retiring in 1978 and was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Vista, American Contract Bridge League, California Retired Teachers Association and Elks Lodge in Parker, Ariz.
Mrs. Hause was preceded in death by her husband, Carleton Hause Sr., on June 8, 1983. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Marti Hause of Vista; daughter Marjorie Hause of Bethel Island; grandchildren Jeff, Eric and Michele Hause, Kathy Larsen and Carolyn Wallis; great-grandchildren Sasha, Dylan and Camille Larsen, Madeline Hause, Ashley Scabolt and David, Michael and Samantha Redman; and great-great-grandson Billy Seabolt Jr.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 21, at the First Lutheran Church in Vista, with Steve Awbrey officiating. Her cremains will be scattered at sea.
The family suggests memorial donations to the First Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 1410 Foothill Drive, Vista, CA 92083.

Einar Thorsen, 73
SAN MARCOS - Einar "Hagar" Thorsen, 73, died Monday, May 15, 2000, at Pomerado Hospital.
Born May 18, 1926, in California, he lived in San Marcos for 15 years. He was a beef jerky distributor and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Lutheran Church and the National Rifle Association.
Mr. Thorsen is survived by his wife of 10 years, Eloise Dietrich of San Marcos; sons and daughters-in-law Eric and Terri Thurston of Anchorage, Alaska, Russell and Patricia Dietrich of Ramona and Dave and Jean Dietrich of San Marcos; daughters and son-in-law Kristen DeKurqulian of Montana and Leann and Chet Skov of Vancouver, British Columbia; sister Sally Thursston of Washington, D.C.; and grandchildren Vanessa, Taylor, Valerie, Grant, Bethany, Josh, Beth and Ben.
North County Cremation Service is handling arrangements.

Mary Kusch, 91
VISTA - Mary A. Kusch, 91, died Wednesday, May 17, at her home in Vista.
Born Oct. 26, 1908, in Fresno, she lived in Vista for 50 years. She was a homemaker and a member of the Vista Garden Club.
Mrs. Kusch was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Kusch on Dec. 18, 1999. She is survived by her daughter, Karol K. Fenner of Bailey Island, Maine; grandchildren Roslyn Turner Bernhardt, Sharon Turner Benoit and Laurel Kathleen Savage; and great-grandchildren Jed Page, Nina Page, Anna Ruth Beinhardt, Katy Savage and Alaina Savage.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 26, at Memorial Grove at Brengle Park in Vista, with the Vista Garden Club officiating.
The family suggests memorial donations to Elizabeth Hospice, 150 W. Crest St., Escondido, CA 92025; or the Vista Garden Club, PO Box 44, Vista, CA 92085.

Thelma Jensen, 88
SUN CITY - Thelma Jensen, 88, died Sunday, May 14, 2000, in Sun City.
Born Feb. 9, 1912, in Spanish Fork, Utah, she lived in Sun City for 10 years and had lived in Encinitas for many years. She was a bookkeeper for 20 years.
Mrs. Jensen was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Jensen, in January 1998. She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Lyle Jensen of St. Helena and Ted and Maryann Jensen of Encinitas; sister Reta Hyde of Sandy, Utah; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A private interment will take place Friday, May 19, at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.
The family suggests memorial donations to the Alzheimer's Association of San Diego, 8514 Commerce Ave., San Diego, CA 92121.

Helen Allman, 91
CARLSBAD - Helen Beatrice Allman, 91, died Friday, May 12, 2000, of congestive heart failure, in Carlsbad.
Born Aug. 18, 1908, in Oklahoma, she lived in Carlsbad for 38 years. She was a homemaker and a member and benefactor of the Carlsbad Womens Club and the Helen Allman Youth Center.
Mrs. Allman was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Allman, in 1991. She is survived by her nephews, Robert Hunter of North Little Rock, Ark., William Hunter of Palm Desert and Richard Telaneus of Signal Hill; and nieces Patricia Tellman of San Diego, Rosalyn Palmer of Livingston, Texas, and Phyllis Allman of Woodburn, Ore.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 27, at the Helen Allman Youth Center in Carlsbad. Her cremains will be scattered at sea.
The family suggests memorial donations to the Carlsbad Womens Club, PO Box 173, Carlsbad, CA 92008; or the Helen Allman Youth Center, PO Box 584, Carlsbad, CA 92008.

Betty Hall, 83
AGUANGA - Betty Juanita Hall, 83, died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, in Aguanga.
Born Sept. 20, 1916, in Biscoe, Ark., she lived in Aguanga for 25 years. She owned a bar in Tucson, Ariz., for 40 years before retiring.
Mrs. Hall is survived by her granddaughter, Deborah Urias of Aguanga; and two great-grandchildren.
No service will be held at the request of the deceased. A private cremation is planned with cremains to be scattered at sea.

Donald Atkin
Donald D. Atkin, 90, died Wednesday, May 17, 2000, at his home in Vista.
Born Nov. 17, 1909, in Greenville, Utah, he lived in Vista for 25 years. He served as patriarch in the Vista Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a real estate investor, grocery store manager and owner, Clark County Dairy manager, postal exchange manager for Camp Williston/Seibert and Nellis Air Force Base and a court-appointed bankruptcy referee.
Mr. Atkin is survived by his wife of 71 years, Mae Memmott Atkin; son Dr. Roy D. Atkin of Carlsbad; daughter Floy Daun Mackay of Tustin; one brother; two sisters; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today, May 19, at Eternal Hills Mortuary in Oceanside. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 20, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1545 South Melrose in Vista.

Debra Hart, 48
ESCONDIDO - Debra K. Hart, 48, died Wednesday, May 17, 2000, of cancer, at her home.
Born Sept. 26, 1951, in Windom, Minn., she lived in Escondido for seven years. She was a registered nurse at Grossmont and a member of the Association of Critical Care Nurses, Zoological Society of San Diego, Humane Society of the United States and Harley Owner's Group.
Mrs. Hart is survived by her husband of eight years, Eugene Hart of Escondido; mother Verna M. Fischer of San Marcos; stepson Chad Hart of Newport News, Va.; stepdaughter Shelley Scherbenske of Watertown, S.D.; and grandchildren Brett and Abbey.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. today, May 19, at Grossmont Hospital Auditorium, with the Rev. Donald Stouder officiating.
The family suggests memorial donations to the American Cancer Society, 12405 Rancho Bernardo Road, Suite 100, San Diego, CA 92128.

Richard Jones, 75
ESCONDIDO - Richard E. Jones Sr., 75, died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, in Escondido.
Born Jan. 6, 1925, in Escondido he lived in Escondido for 75 years. He was a self-employed plasterer, retiring in 1968. He served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps at Iwo Jima and was a member and past commander of the American Legion, Post 149, for 24 years. He was a member of 40 ET 8 No. 1406 for 20 years and of the Past Commanders Club and the Las Ramadas Camping Club in Escondido.
Mr. Jones is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ada Jones of Escondido; sons and daughters-in-law Richard and Marie Jones Jr. of Poway and Kenneth and Jane Jones of Orange; daughters and sons-in-law Carol and Steve Marsh of Yorba Linda and Shirley and Ronald Johnson of San Marcos; brothers and sisters-in-law Donald and Elda Jones of Escondido, Charles and Edith Jones of Tulare, Gerald and Fern Jones of Las Vegas, and Buford "Boots" and Frances Jones of Oceanside; sister Edith Book of Oregon; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 21, at Alhiser-Comer Mortuary. A funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, May 22, at Alhiser-Comer Mortuary. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Rita Abelar, 91
SAN MARCOS - Rita D. Abelar, 91, died Monday, May 15, 2000, at a local convalescent home.
Born Feb. 13, 1909, in Sonora, Mexico, she lived in San Diego County for 20 years. She was a homemaker for 53 years and a member of the W. Los Angeles Holiness Church and the United Methodist Church of San Marcos. She was a volunteer at the Encinitas Thrift Store and the Joslyn Senior Center. She was a seamstress for celebrities and a nanny for Vincent Price.
Mrs. Abelar was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Abelar, in 1982; and her sons, Samuel Abelar and John Abelar. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David and Norma Abelar of Santa Monica; daughters and sons-in-law Esther Guilfoyle and husband Paul Abelar of San Marcos and Ruth Abelar Russell and Douglas Russell of W. Los Angeles; niece Esther and Edward Sandoval of Huntington Park; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, May 20, at Casa Escobar Restaurant in Marine Del Rey, with the Rev. Kenneth Ashitomi officiating. A private inurnment will take place at Inglewood Park cemetery in Inglewood.

Philip Sperry, 90
VISTA - Philip Dudley Sperry, 90, died Thursday, May 18, 2000, at Tri-City Medical Center.
Born Dec. 10, 1909, in Los Angeles, he lived in Vista for 20 years. He was a production mailer for the Los Angeles Times for 23 years and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Mr. Sperry is survived by his wife, Margaret Sperry of Vista.
No formal service is planned. A private cremation will be held with cremains to be scattered at sea.

Vida Felt, 53
OCEANSIDE ----Vida Elizabeth "Libby" Felt, 53, died Wednesday, April 12, 2000.
Born Feb. 20, 1947, in Laurel, Miss., she lived in Carlsbad. She attended Carlisle High School near Marshall, Texas and graduated from California Baptist College with a bachelor of arts in 1971. She worked for Industrial Underwriters and the city of Riverside's tax division. She also worked for Lochemiller Mortgage of Vista and in accounts receivable for the city of Vista.
Mrs. Felt is survived by her husband of 21 years, Lawrence Felt of Carlsbad; mother Dora L. Harville of Calhoun City, Miss.; daughter and son-in-law Julie and Keith Blevins; uncle and wife John and Martha Harville of Houlka, Miss.; aunts Dell Harville of Calhoun City and Mabel Collins of Bruce, Miss.; and three grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, June 2, at the Vista Assembly of God Church.

SOLANA BEACH - Dorothy K. Gillespie, 79, died Friday, May 19, 2000, of renal failure, in Encinitas.
Born Oct. 29, 1920, in Graybill, Wyo., she lived in Solana Beach for 33 years. She was a teacher for the San Dieguito School District, retiring in June 1978.
Mrs. Gillespie is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Marti Gillespie of Laguna Niguel and Michael Gillespie of Drake, Colo.; brother and sister-in-law Donald and Barbara Knode of Holmes Beach. Fla.; grandchildren Sharon Hines, Michelle Grace, Cameron Gillespie, Andrew Gillespie and Oliver Gillespie; and great-grandchild Sean Hines.

Lillian Hodgert, 69
SAN MARCOS - Lillian Hodgert, 69, died Sunday, May 21, 2000, at a local convalescent home.
Born Oct. 25, 1930, in Los Angeles, she lived in San Diego County for 20 years. She was a homemaker for 40 years.
Mrs. Hodgert is survived by her husband of six years, Craig B. Hodgert of San Marcos; daughters Jean Manning of San Marcos and Charlene Renteria of Valley Center; brother James Wetzel of Los Angeles; and one grandchild.
A private cremation is planned with cremains to be scattered at sea.

Veva Francisco, 88
RANCHO SANTA FE - Veva Francisco, 88, died Saturday, May 20, 2000, in Rancho Santa Fe.
Born Nov. 12, 1911, in Nebraska, she lived in Rancho Santa Fe for 74 years. She worked for R. C Francisco Investments Company before retiring.
Mrs. Francisco was preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. Francisco, in 1984. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Janice Francisco of San Marcos and James and Carolyn Francisco of Colorado; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Dorothy Loranger, 86
CARLSBAD - Dorothy Loranger, 86, died Friday, May 19, 2000, in Vista.
Born Dec. 31, 1913, in Massachusetts, she lived in Carlsbad. She was a homemaker and a member of the Oceanside Emblem Club.
Mrs. Loranger is survived by her sons, David Stewart and Richard Swanson, both of Connecticut; and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. today, May 23, at Eternal Hills Mortuary. A funeral service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, at Eternal Hills Mortuary. A private interment will take place at a later date.
