ESCONDIDO - Lillian W. Archer, 87, died Wednesday, July 26, 2000, in Escondido.
Born Nov. 7, 1912, in Howe, Texas, she lived in Escondido for 12 years. She was a homemaker, a former school teacher, owner of a World War II uniform shop and a seamstress. She was an avid golfer and loved cooking, traveling, camping and doing crossword puzzles.
Mrs. Archer was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, George Gordon Archer, in 1994. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, David Gordon and Anita Archer of Escondido and Charles Roberts and Junnie Archer of Valley Center; daughters and sons-in-law Dawne Ellen and Bill Sheppard of Sun City, Jacqueline Ann and Ray Grisolana of Flagstaff, Ariz., and Leslie Jo and Paul Mayer of Escondido; brother and sister-in-law William James and Joann Roberts of Sherman, Texas; uncle and aunt W.W. Collins and Margaret Collins, both of Sherman; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at noon Monday, July 31, at Alhiser-Comer Mortuary in Escondido, with Sergeant Andrew Mills officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Robert Haehl, 61
LAS VEGAS - Robert Haehl Jr., 61, died Thursday, July 20, 2000, in Las Vegas.
Born Dec. 23, 1938, in Toledo, Ohio, he lived in Poway for 25 years. He worked for the San Diego Fire Department for 25 years, served as a bus driver for the Poway Unified School District and as president of the Poway High Band Boosters for two terms.
Mr. Haehl is survived by his companion, Penny Quintero of Las Vegas; daughters Katherine Haehl of Temecula, Barbara Foster of Marble Canyon, Ariz., Pamela Haehl of Escondido, Jennifer MacDonald of Poway and Patrice Quintero of Colorado Springs, Colo.; former wife Sharon Haehl of Poway, parents Robert Sr. and Fannie Haehl of San Diego; sisters Nancy Badejo and Sue Warner, both of California, and Joyce Clark of Las Vegas.

Laverne Broyles, 64
ESCONDIDO - Laverne Albert Broyles, 64, died Friday, July 21, 2000.
Born Sept. 31, 1935, in Yakima, Wash., he lived in Escondido for 11 years. He graduated from high school in Sterling, Neb., and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1954 to 1957. He earned a degree in business administration at Woodbury College in Los Angeles, where he served as president of his fraternity. He worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. in San Francisco and various places around the state for 33 years before retiring in Los Angeles in 1998.
Mr. Broyles was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Mabel Broyles of Dresden, Kan.; and sister Eulla Loraine Broyles. He is survived by his wife, Donna Broyles of Escondido; daughters and sons-in-law Vickie and Jack Bagner of Casper, Wyo., Andrea and Jeff Hastings of Kona, Hawaii, and Collette and Brian Johansen of Sacramento; grandchildren Jenifer Crawford of Chauteau, Okla., Jaci Bagner of Casper, William Bryant of Sacramento and Ashley Hastings of Kona; great-grandchildren Austin, Jenea and Vanna Crawford; sisters Donna Linnell of Riverton, Wyo., and Marlene Smith of Salt Lake City; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 6, at the Neighborhood Church on Country Club Lane in Escondido. A reception will follow with light refreshments.
Stan Mack, 69
HUMBOLDT, Tenn. - Stan Mack, 69, died Wednesday, July 26, 2000, from complications of leukemia.
Born June 16, 1931, in Porterville, he lived in Escondido for 42 years. He was a New York Life Insurance agent for 30 years and a member of the Rotary Club in Escondido for many years. He served as president of California Life Underwriters in 1988.
Mr. Mack is survived by his wife, Cleo Mack of Humboldt; daughter Joy Galindo of Dixon; sons Walt Mack and Brian Mack, both of Escondido; stepdaughter Kelly of Australia; stepson Brit of Washington State; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held today, July 29, in Humboldt.

FALLBROOK - Helen Shaw Smith, 74, died Tuesday, July 25, 2000, in Fallbrook.
Born June 6, 1926,m in Milano, Texas, she lived in Fallbrook for 44 years. She was a homemaker for more than 50 years.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband of 55 years, Odell H. Smith of Fallbrook; daughters Katherine Saunders of Fallbrook and Linda Corn of Vista; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
No service will be held at the request of the deceased. A private cremation is planned.

ESCONDIDO - Paul Bennett Wikstrom, 57, died Sunday, July 23, 2000, at Life Care Center in Escondido.
Born Aug. 8, 194 in Minneapolis, he lived in Escondido for 37 years. He was a machinist for Pacific Metal Fabrication, retiring in 1998. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1959 to 1963 and was a member of the Escondido Motorcycle Club GWRRA, Chapter CA 1N.
Mr. Wikstrom was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Wikstrom, in 1998. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Peggy S. Wikstrom of Escondido; son James J. Wikstrom of Escondido; daughters Doreen M. McCarean Tanya D. Wikstrom and Trisha Gissler, all of Escondido and Charleen Wikstrom of Texas; three brothers; father-in-law Walter Bost Sr. of Escondido; and grandchildren Matthew, Tyler, Tamara, Jessie, B.J. and Zacharias.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, at Felicita Park in Escondido, with GWRRA Motorcyle Club, Chapter CA 1N of Escondido, officiating. A private cremation is planned.

Born Oct. 24, 1902, in Chicago, she lived in Escondido for one year. She was a receptionist for Bowman Dairy.
Mrs. Murphy is survived by her brother, James Murphy of Escondido; and niece Susan Ryan of Escondido.

LAKE SAN MARCOS - Donald Aubrey Lee, 85, died Monday, July 17, 2000, at a local convalescent home.
Born Jan. 18, 1915, in New York City, he lived at Lake San Marcos for 14 years. He was a cartographer for the United State Geological Survey in Menlo Park for 20 years and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of the BPOE Elks in Palo Alto and the Palo Alto Yacht Club.
Mr. Lee is survived by his wife of 64 years, Freida Lee of Lake San Marcos; sons and daughters-in-law George and Wendy Lee of Portola Valley and Donald Jr. and Janice Lee of Leucadia; grandchildren Jane Phillips of Coloma and Dana Lee and Erin Lee, both of Leucadia; and great-grandchildren Caitlin Phillips and Jessica Phillips, both of Coloma.

Born Aug. 11, 1904, in Mansfield, Mo., she lived in Escondido for 80 years. She was a homemaker and a life-time member of the First Congregational Church of Escondido.
Mrs. Crise is survived by her son, Harold J. Crise of Escondido; daughter Ella Lucille Baker of Escondido; six grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Born Dec. 28, 1915, in Melrose, Mass., she lived in Rancho Bernardo for 15 years. She was a teacher for the Niscayuna School District before retiring in 1980. She was a member of the San Rafael Catholic Church in Poway and of the American Association of University Women.
Mrs. Harrington-Breen was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Daniel Harrington II, in July 1965; and her son, Joseph Daniel Harrington III, in June 1975. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Breen of Rancho Bernardo; sons and daughters-in-law Richard and Bonnie Harrington of Corona Del Mar, Geoffrey and Bonnie Harrington of Ridgefield, Conn., and David and Martha Harrington of Tucscon, Ariz.; daughter Judith Kiener of San Rafael; grandchildren Jilla, Sheila, Leigh, Steven, Alex, Paul, Jonathan and Molly; and great-grandchildren James, Madeleine and Jordan.

Raymond Kruckenberg, 70
SAN MARCOS - Raymond R. Kruckenberg, 70, died Thursday, July 27, 2000, at his home.
Born July 17, 1930, on a farm near Halliday, N.D., he lived in San Marcos. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1951 to 1953. He worked for the Home Stake Gold Mine in the Black Hills of South Dakota and for Convair in San Diego from 1956 to 1957. He did grading on construction sites for Earl Dean and opened his own business, Ray's Tractor, in 1960.
Mr. Kruckenberg was preceded in death by his sister in 1980. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Faye Kruckenberg of San Marcos; son and daughter-in-law Ronald Ray and Judy Kruckenberg of San Marcos; daughter and son-in-law Raylene and Chuck Hobbs of Columbus, Ga.; brothers and sisters-in-law Alvin and Ramona of Spokane, Wash, and Marlyn and Janet of Wapiton, N.D.; grandsons Ronald and Ashley Kruckenberg; five nephews; and five nieces.
Visitation will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 30, at Encinitas Mortuary. A funeral service is scheduled for noon Monday, July 31, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Encinitas. Burial will take place at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

FALLBROOK - John Edward Fairman, 78, died Tuesday, July 4, 2000, in Fallbrook.
Born May 9, 1922, in Pittsburgh, he lived in Fallbrook for 12 years. He was an engineer for Southern California Gas & Electric for 37 years and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of Toastmasters International and the American Legion.
Mr. Fairman was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Wanda Fairman, in 1999; and his brother, Edwin Fairman. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Henry and Elizabeth Hoag of Tehachapi; and brother Dr. Robert Fairman of Epping, Australia.
A private cremation was held. Interment will take place at Fort Rosecrans National cemetery at a date and time to be determined.

ESCONDIDO - John Raymond Lewis, 69, died Friday, July 28, 2000, at his home in Escondido.
Born Feb. 16, 1931, in Akron, Ohio, he lived in Escondido for 42 years. He worked for California Highway Patrol for 20 years, retiring in 1967. He served in Korea in the U.S. Air Force from 1949 to 1952 and was past commander of the American Legion Post 149 in Escondido in 1978.
Mr. Lewis is survived by his wife of 44 years, Donna Mae Lewis of Escondido; sons and daughter-in-law David and Christy Lewis of Lake Forest and John Lewis of Escondido; sister June Powers of Lufkin, Texas; grandchildren Shawna Royster of Huntington Beach and Micah Lewis of Lake Forest; and three great-grandchildren.

SAN MARCOS - Raymond Peter Wegter, 80, died Saturday, April 8, 2000, of cancer, at Village Square Convalescent Home in San Marcos.
Born March 6, 1922, in Sheldon, Iowa, he lived in San Marcos for 10 years. He was assistant manager for Security Bank in Downey for 21 years and a real estate salesman and broker for more than 20 years. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard for 3 1/2 years during World War II.
Mr. Wegter is survived by his wife of almost 58 years, Lillian Wegter; sons and daughters-in-law Jay and Michele Wegter of Valencia and Rex and Laura Wegter of Seal Beach; daughter Lori Jarry of Greenwich, Conn.; sisters Kay Krause of Hobbs, N.M., and Ethel Richardson of Holmes Beach, Fla.; and grandchildren Natasha Wegter of Valencia, Seth Wegter and Rachel Wegter, both of Seal Beach, and Julien Jarry of Greenwich.

FALLBROOK - Raymond I. Thompson, 77, died Monday, May 22, 2000, from a cerebrovascular accident, in Fallbrook.
Born April 24, 1923, in Murrieta, he lived in Fallbrook for 26 years. He was a deputy fire chief at Camp Pendleton and founded the Murrieta Volunteer Fire Department in 1950.
Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife of 26 years, Norma Thompson of Fallbrook; sons Patrick Thompson of Grand Terrace and Michael Thompson of Bakersfield; daughter Leslie Sterbenk of Fallbrook; sisters Mary Roberts of La Habra, Nelda Sheld of Sun City and Janis Taylor of Hemet; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
