Pauline Sepich, 75

VISTA - Pauline F. Sepich, 75, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, in Oceanside.

Born June 7, 1924, in Bainbridge Island, Wash., she lived in Vista for 20 years. She was the owner of Twice As Nice, a retail clothing store, for 12 years.

Mrs. Sepich was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Anthony "Andy" J. Sepich. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Tony and Debbie Sepich of Escondido and John and Barbara Sepich of San Marcos; daughter Norma Asbary of Escondido; brother Andy Rafkin of San Pedro; sister Phyllis Katnich of San Pedro; grandchildren Stephanie Butcher, Gina Hernandez, Carla Sepich, Jessica Sepich, Stephen Sepich, Andy Sepich and Daniel Sepich; and great-granddaughter Sophie Hernandez.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, at Alhiser-Comer Mortuary. A private burial will take place at Riverside National Cemetery.

Ciro Whited, 81

VISTA - Ciro Neyvie Whited, 81, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, at his home.

Born Jan. 4, 1919, in Minnesota, he lived in Vista for 15 years. He was a captain in the U.S. Navy, serving as a naval aviator during World War II and was decorated four times. He was a member of the Neighborhood Watch Program and was given a Lifetime Achievement Award from the city of Vista.

Mr. Whited is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara Whited of Vista; son and daughter-in-law Craig Richard and Gilda Whited of Los Angeles; and grandchildren Brian, Brenda and Jason Whited, all of Los Angeles.

Inurnment will take place at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in Point Loma with full military honors.

Iva Smith, 82

MURRIETA - Iva Isabelle Smith, 82, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000.

Born Jan. 24, 1918, in St. Joseph, Mo., she lived in Murrieta for 20 years. She was a homemaker for 62 years and owned Curly's Liquor Store in Redondo Beach. She was a troop leader for the Girl Scouts and past president of the South Elementary School PTA. She was chairwoman for the Los Angeles Children Hospital Golf Tournament fund-raiser and a member of the Anchor Bowling team.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her sons, Jim Smith of Torrance, Richard Smith of Virginia and Robert Smith of Murrieta; daughters Sharon DeBrae of Redding, Patty Jablon of Van Nuys, Dixie Quigg of Thousand Oaks and Vicki Rivers of Santa Cruz; brother Hershel Sheperd of Emporia, Kan.; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 25, at Miller-Jones Mortuary & Crematory, with the Rev. William Carne officiating. Burial will take place at Riverside National Cemetery.

Arnold Andersen, 70

WILDOMAR - Arnold Kenneth Andersen, 70, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2000, at Inland Valley Regional Medical Center.

Born March 19, 1929, in Fresno, he lived in Wildomar for 16 years. He received a bachelor of science in aeronautical engineering from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 1951 and worked as an aeronautical engineer at McDonnell Douglas in Long Beach for 34 years. He was a member of Elks Lodge No. 2591 in Lake Elsinore.

Mr. Andersen was preceded in death by his son, Mike Andersen. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jan Andersen of Wildomar; daughter Sherry Foster of Palmdale; brother Holger Andersen of Fresno; and one grandson.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 25, at Evans Brown Sun City Mortuary.

Florence Sharpless, 75
VISTA - Florence Stomel Sharpless, 75, died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2000, in Oceanside.

Born Sept. 2, 1924, in Minneapolis, Minn., she lived in Vista for 16 years. She graduated from the University of Southern California taught for the Los Angeles School District for 20 years, retiring in 1969. She Mrs. Sharpless is survived by her husband, Roland V. Sharpless of Vista; sons Steven Sharpless of Glendale and William Sharpless of Spokane, Wash.; daughter Diana Dodd of Chester, England; brothers Robert Stomel of California and William Stomel of Tarzana; sister Mildred Kristal of West Covina; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be held from noon to 1 p.m. today, Feb. 23, at 17355 Thibodo Road in Vista. Entombment will follow at 1 p.m. at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

Ruby L. Gibson, 88

SAN MARCOS - Ruby L. Gibson, 88, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, in Vista.

Born Oct. 30, 1911, in Charlotte, N.C., she lived in San Marcos for five years. She attended Blue Ridge College in North Carolina and worked in civil service for the city of Palm Springs. She was a member of the Baptist Church, serving as pianist, the Christian Women's Club and Women's Club.

Mrs. Gibson is survived by her brother, Horace C. Gibson, M.D. of Fallbrook; and niece Mary A. Gibson of Fallbrook.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, at San Marcos District Cemetery, with the Rev. Jack McGoldrick of Living Water Christian Fellowship in Fallbrook officiating.

California Funeral Alternatives is handling arrangements.

Annie Eskridge, 98

PAPILLION, Neb. - Annie Elizabeth Eskridge, 98, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000.

Born Jan. 20, 1902, in Pana, Ill., she previously lived in Julian.

She was an oil painter and a member of the United Methodist Church and of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Mrs. Eskridge was preceded in death by her husband, James Eskridge.

She is survived by her nephew, Marcus Nichols of Nebraska; and two nieces.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 28, at the Julian Cemetery where she will be buried next to her late husband.

The family suggests memorial donations to the Julian United Methodist Church, PO Box 834, Julian, CA 92036.

Marla Dean, 89

ENCINITAS - Marla A. Dean, 89, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, at the Oceanview Convalescent Hospital. Born Jan. 25, 1920, she lived in Encinitas. She was a teacher and operator of a preschool before retiring.

Ms. Dean is survived by her sister, Billie May Buchanan; nephew James Buchanan; and nieces Maxine Cox and Helen Jean Moore.

No service is planned. At her request, her remains will be donated to the School of Medicine at UCSD.

Isidro Chavez, 60

ESCONDIDO - Isidro Chavez, 60, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, at Pomerado Hospital.

Born Feb. 4, 1940, in Aguililla, Michoacan, Mexico, he lived in North County for 20 years. He was a field worker.

Mr. Chavez is survived by his son, Isidro Chavez Jr. of Escondido; daughters and sons-in-law Irma and Juan Olivarez, M. Guadalupe Chavez, Maria and Ruben Garcia and Yolanda and Noe Lopez, all of Escondido; and 10 grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Wilson Jones, 83

FALLBROOK - Wilson Burdette Jones, 83, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000, at his home.

Born July 13, 1916, in Jamestown, N.Y., he lived in Fallbrook for 50 years. He served in the Civil Engineering corps of the U.S. Navy during World War II, retiring as chief engineer in public works from Camp Pendleton in 1976.

Mr. Jones is survived by his wife of 59 years, Helen Jones of Fallbrook; sons Jeff Jones of Fallbrook and Kerry Jones of Black Canyon City, Ariz.; daughters and son-in-law Jera Jones of Vista and Kasey and Charlie Jonesrebandt of Fallbrook; brother Charles William Jones of Bakersfield; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A private family memorial service will be held at the family lake in Fallbrook, with Dr. Dennis Y. Ginoza officiating. A private cremation is planned.

Landon Hipps, infant

OCEANSIDE - Landon Fletcher Hipps, 5 1/2 months, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, at UCSD in San Diego.

Born Sept. 5, 1999, he lived in Oceanside.

Landon is survived by his mother and father, Marcie and Danny Hipps of Oceanside; grandparents Tim and Diane Hipps of Carlsbad, Ray Dominguez and Lucy Dominguez, both of Escondido; and a large extended family.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Carlsbad.

Edward Baier, 89

OCEANSIDE - Edward Michael Baier, 89, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000, in Encinitas.

Born March 31, 1910, in Buffalo, N.Y., he lived in Oceanside for 68 years. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Mr. Baier was preceded in death by his wife, Ireane Baier, in 1982. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Lary Dovenbarger of Encinitas; brother Hary Baier of New York; sister Evelyn Rettberg of New York; and grandchild Kyle Dovenbarger.

The family suggests memorial donations to the American Cancer Society, 12405 Rancho Bernardo Road, Suite 100, San Diego, CA 92128.

Nell Cope, 83

POWAY - Nell B. Cope, 83, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000, at a hospital in Poway.

Born July 31, 1916, in Ipan, Texas, she lived in Ramona for 10 years.

She worked for Broadway, a department store in La Mesa, before retiring.

Mrs. Cope was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Darilyn Cope, in 1997. She is survived by her sons, Marshall Cope of Sallisaw, Okla., and George Cope of Dallas; daughter Ann Morgart of Ramona; grandsons Christopher Morgart of Ramona and Clayton Cope of Sallisaw; and great-grandson Jonathon Morgart of Ramona.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. today, Feb. 23, at the First Congregational Church of Ramona, with the Rev. Alex Dreese officiating. Inurnment will take place in Sallisaw.

Nancy Bishop, 69

FALLBROOK - Nancy Barnard Bishop, 69, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2000, in Fallbrook.

Born April 3, 1930, in Arkansas City, Kan., she lived in Fallbrook for eight years.

She was an administrative assistant for Senator Robert Beverly for seven years and was a member of the Jr. League, Pi Beta Phi Sorority and was a volunteer Republican fundraiser.

Mrs. Bishop is survived by her husband, William Bishop of Fallbrook; son David Barnard Bishop of Beverly Hills; and daughter Sally Ann Bishop of St. Louis, Mo.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, at St. John's Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Don Kroeger officiating. A private cremation is planned.

The family suggests memorial donations to the Nancy Bishop Memorial Fund, c/o St. John's Episcopal Church, 434 N. Iowa St., Fallbrook, CA 92028.

Charlotte Hennie, 54

OCEANSIDE - Charlotte L. Hennie, 54, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, at her home.

Born Feb. 9, 1946, in Chicago, she lived in Oceanside for 45 years.

She worked for MCCS at Camp Pendleton and opened two exchanges there before retiring.

Mrs. Hennie is survived by her husband of 36 years, Warren D. Hennie of Oceanside; sons Kevin L. Hennie of Oceanside and Travis M. Hennie of Sacramento; daughters Latina A. Hennie of Oceanside and Ingrid L. Burgess of San Diego; brother Gregory Davis of San Diego; sisters Marion Knighton of Perris, Patsy Davis of Anaheim, Candice Davis of San Diego and Dee Dee Davis of Murrieta; and 15 grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24 and Friday, Feb. 25, at Eternal Hills Mortuary Chapel. A funeral service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, at Eternal Hills Mortuary Chapel. Interment will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.
