Elden Fossey, 80
LAKE ELSINORE - Elden Ray Fossey, 80, died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2000, at his home.
Born Sept. 10, 1920, he lived in Lake Elsinore for 11 years. He graduated from South Gate High School and worked as a machinist. He was a member of Faith Baptist Wildomar Church, where he was a volunteer with the bus ministry and served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1944, and as a lieutenant in the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary for two years. He attended police academy, worked as a deputy sheriff from 1948 to 1960 and was head of security for McDonnell Douglas for 20 years .
Mr. Fossey is survived by his wife, Audrey Fossey of Lake Elsinore; son Lester Fossey of Phoenix; stepson Terry Tyler of San Juan Capistrano; stepdaughter Lorna Hawkey of Whittier; brother Dale Gene Fossey of Los Osos; three grandchildren ; eight stepgrandchildren; one great-grandchild; and seven stepgreat-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, at Faith Baptist Church in Wildomar. Burial will follow at Riverside National Cemetery, Staging Area 4.

Jessie Solano, 82
PERRIS - Jessie Garcia Solano, 82, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2000, at Menifee Valley Medical Center.
Born March 30, 1918, in Mexico, she lived in Perris for 41 years. She was the owner of Jessie's Grocery in Perris for 10 years and a member of St. James Catholic Church in Perris for 41 years.
Mrs. Solano was preceded in death by her brother, David Garcia. She is survived by her daughter, Rosa Castillo of Nuevo; son Tony Solano of Redondo Beach; sisters Lupe Bracamontes of Hawaiian Gardens, Mary Cuevas of Compton and Rachel Herpich of Redondo Beach; brothers Manuel Garcia of Costa Mesa and Ruben Garcia of San Pedro; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Monday, Dec. 18, at Miller-Jones Mortuary in Perris. A funeral service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 18, at St. James Catholic Church. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at Riverside National Cemetery, Staging Area 5.

William Hooper, 51
OCEANSIDE - William T. "Hoop" Hooper, 51, died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2000, at his home.
born Sept. 2, 1949, in Reidsville, N.C., he lived in Oceanside for 25 years. He was a gunnery sergeant and military police in the U.S. Marine Corps for 23 years, doing one tour of Vietnam. He was ordained a minister in 1985 and served as associate minister at the Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church.
Mr. Hooper is survived by his sons, William T. Hooper II, Joseph Toric Hooper and Michael and Ronald Sloan, all of Vista; daughter Kimberly Robinson of Arkansas; godson Alanor McDowell; sister Rosa Strayhorn of Trenton, N.J.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Viewing will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 18, at Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church in Oceanside. A funeral service is scheduled fore 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, at the church, with the Rev. Leroy West officiating, followed by full military honors. A private family interment will take place Wednesday, Dec. 20, at Riverside National Cemetery.

Martha Rich, 89
BONSALL - Martha Louise Rich, 89, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000.
Born Jan. 24, 1911, in Rome, Ga., she was a resident of Bonsall for four years. She was a retired chief financial officer for WJS Plastics and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Ms. Rich is survived by her daughter, Sarah Stewart of Bonsall; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A memorial is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 22, at Zion Lutheran Church in Fallbrook. A private cremation is planned.

Richard Brantley, 82
OCEANSIDE - Richard Eugene Brantley, 82, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000.
Born March 20, 1918, in San Diego, he was a resident of Oceanside. He was retired from the civil service. He had been in the U.S. Marine Corp and was a Seventh Day Adventist.
Mr. Brantley was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Jane Brantley, in 1967. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Dora Brantley of Oceanside; three sons; two daughters; three sisters; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
No services are planned. Burial will be at Riverside National Cemetery.

Caroline Guth, 90
OCEANSIDE - Caroline Louise Guth, 90, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000, at Brighton Gardens Convalescent Facility.
Born Sept. 6, 1910, in Wisconsin, she was a resident of Oceanside for two years. She was a homemaker for 62 years.
Mrs. Guth was preceded in death by her husband, William Guth, in 1998. She is survived by her son, Jack Guthrie of Victoria, British Columbia; daughter and son-in-law Carol and Harold Riggs of Oceanside; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A private cremation and scattering of cremains is planned.

Jesus Olivarez, 80
FALLBROOK - Jesus Ruiz Olivarez, 80, died Friday, Dec. 15, 2000, at his residence.
Born Feb. 13, 1920, in Sonora, Mexico, he was a resident of Fallbrook for 35 years. He was retired from Odesey Paper Company ranch in Fallbrook. He loved carpentry and was an amateur horticulturist.
Mr. Olivarez was preceded in death by his granddaughter Angela Ruiz on Nov. 1, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Soledad, of Fallbrook; sons and daughters-in-law Bernardo and Jenny Ruiz of Temecula, Jesus and Maggie Ruiz Jr. of Escondido, and Jose Manuel and Tamarra Ruiz of Fallbrook; daughter and son-in-law Martha and Silvino Esparza of Pala; brother Monico Arreolo Olivarez of Tecate, Mexico; sister Marianna Flores of Mexico City, Mexico; grandchildren Nancy Ambriz, Grace Capitaine, Nora Ambriz, Silvino Esparza Jr., Cynthia Alferez, Bernardo Ruiz Jr., Jamie Ruiz, Andrea Ruiz, Andres Ruiz, Anthony Ruiz and Brandee Ruiz; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was scheduled from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at the Ruiz residence. A Mass was celebrated at 8 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at St. Peteršs Catholic Church in Fallbrook. There was a private family inurnment.

Darwin Heumann, 73
LA JOLLA - Darwin A. Heumann, 73, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000, following a long illness.
Born July 17, 1927, in Milwaukee, he was a San Diego resident for five years. He retired in 1994 from Commercial Union. He was a member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church where he served on the board of education at the preschool and worked with outreach ministry.
Mr. Heumann is survived by his wife of 11 years, Ruth Ellen Heumann of San Diego; son Mark W. Heumann of San Diego; daughter Cynthia V. Heumann; stepdaughters Rosemary Oraffius of Cold Bay, Alaska, Jeanne Taskerud of El Cajon, Joni Stack of Westbrook, Janis Berenson of Columbus, Ohio, Margaret Hoffman of Morrisenville, N.Y. and Beverlie Selleck of Portland, Maine; sisters and brothers-in-law Ardice and Ray Bernier of Westbend, Wis., and Desrae and Jack Lee of Clarksville Tenn.; 13 stepgrandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

VALLEY CENTER - Lou Helen Glaze, 93, died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2000, at Palomar Medical Center.
Born Dec. 3, 1917, in Uvalde, Texas, she was a resident of Valley Center for 23 years. She was a homemaker for 47 years and assisted her husband in his garage in Pacific Beach and later his glass business in Poway. She was a member of Valley Center Republican Womenšs Club, Federated, and the Valley Center Garden Club.
Mrs. Glaze was preceded in death by her husband, George E. Glaze, in July 1981. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Eva and Tim Morgan of Escondido; sister Scottye Wright of Odessa, Texas; grandchildren Timothy E. Morgan and wife Lois of Escondido, James Morgan of Escondido, and David Morgan of Murrieta; and great-grandchildren Jesse Marshall Morgan and Kaylynn Rose Morgan, both of Valley Center, and Samantha Nicole Morgan of Escondido.

Chavez of Oceanside, Leticia and Cesar Hart of Florida, Eva Martinez Trejo of Vista and Patricia Trejo of Vista; 19 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Albert Krankota, 90
VISTA - Albert Krankota, 90, died Monday, Dec. 11, 2000, at Pleasant Care in Vista.
Born Aug. 24, 1911, in Walsenberg, Colo., he was a resident of Oceanside for 22 years. He was raised in Butler, Pa., where he is in the Hall of Fame for his athletic abilities. He was a graduate of Dusquene University, where he played football in the first Orange Bowl Game in 1933.
Mr. Krank ota is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mildred Krankota of Oceanside; daughter Terry Cook; and sister Ann Preuitt.
No services are planned and there will be a private cremation.

James Watson, 91
OCEANSIDE - James Dodds Watson, 91, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000, at his residence.
Born July 31, 1909, in Los Angles, he was a resident of Oceanside for 10 years. He retired after 35 years from Hartwell Corp., where he was a manufacturing vice president.
Mr. Watson is survived by his sons, Don Watson of Oceanside and Gary Watson of Paradise; sister Elizabeth Chambers of Santa Paula; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation was from noon to 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 18, at Allen Brothers Mortuary Vista Chapel. The funeral took place at 1 p.m. The Rev. Francis Marcolongo officiated. Burial is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, at Inglewood Park Cemetery.

Daniel Lutz, 71
FALLBROOK - Daniel Carroll Lutz, 71, died Friday, Dec. 15, 2000.
Born Dec. 22, 1928, in Pittsburgh, he was a resident of Fallbrook for 32 years. He was a retired purchasing agent for Kraft System after 20 years. He was a member of St. Peteršs Catholic Church, Fallbrook, a founding member of Fallbrook Vintage Car Club, and a member of Model Aeronautics Club and the Early Ford V-8 Club.
Mr. Lutz is survived by his wife, Nancy Ann Lutz of Fallbrook; sons Dennis Lutz of Escondido and Daniel Lutz of Palomar Mountain; daughters Mary Reisman of Borrego Springs and Suzanne Lutz of La Mesa; sister, Carol Ann Kubiak of Hesperia and Jean Spinney of Arcadia; and four grandchildren.
A memorial will be held at a later date at St. Peteršs Catholic Church in Fallbrook. There will be a private cremation with interment at Mission San Luis Rey Cemetery in Oceanside.

ESCONDIDO - - - Kathleen C. Roth, 68, died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2000.
Born June 8, 1932, in Queens, N.Y. she was a resident of Escondido for 43 years. She was the manager of Trinity Episcopal Church store and did counseling service. She was a member of St. Theresa Guild and Palomar Counseling.
Mrs. Roth is survived by her husband of 51 years, Sherwood Roth of Escondido; father, Fred Evers of Riverside; daughter Claudia Wagner of Escondido; grandchildren Stephanie and Kimberly Wagner; and great-granddaughter Ariel Wagner.
Funeral is scheduled for today at 1 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church with the Rev. Meg Decker officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
