Donald Marsh, 89
OCEANSIDE - Donald K. Marsh, Sr., 89, died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000.
Born April 18, 1911, in New Jersey, he was a resident of Vista. He retired in 1948 from Curtiss Wright New Jersery. After flying for the Navy aboard the aircraft carrier Wasp during the early stages of World War II, he performed some of the first test pilot work on the new B-29 bombers. As a result of that experience, he became part of the 509th Composite Group, piloting his airship, the Great Artiste, on the first atomic bomb mission over Hiroshima, Japan.
Mr. Marsh is survived by his wife Muriel Marsh of Vista; son and daughter-in-law Donald and Ann Marsh Jr. of Carmel Valley and son Kevin Marsh of Portland, Ore.; and five grandchildren.
Graveside services are scheduled for noon, Friday, Dec. 1, at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

Marjorie Buckham, 99
ESCONDIDO - Marjorie C. Buckham, 99, died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2000, at Oak Hill Residential Care.
Born Dec. 12, 1900, in Belleville, Ky., she was a resident of Escondido. She retired from Stone & Webster Construction company as a secretary.
No services are scheduled at the request of the deceased. A private cremation and burial at Oak Hill Memorial Park is planned.

Lloyd Watson, 79
ESCONDIDO - Lloyd A. "Rusty" Watson, 79, died Friday, Nov. 24, 2000.
Born April 11, 1921, in San Diego, he was a resident of Escondido for 68 years. He was a truck driver for U.S. Forestry Service. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II and was a life member of VFW #1513.
Mr. Watson is survived by his wife of 46 years, Ruth Watson of Escondido; sons Jim Watson of Lakeside, Mont. and Gary Watson of Post Falls, Idaho; daughter Kathleen Miller of Pataskala, Ohio; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled for noon, Wednesday, Nov. 29, at McLeod Mortuary, with funeral service at 1 p.m. Burial will be at 2 p.m. at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
The family suggests memorial donations to Elizabeth Hospice, 150 Crest St., Escondido, CA 92025.

Patricia Farley, 73
ESCONDIDO - Patricia Jean Farley, 73, died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000.
Born July 1, 1927, in Brea, she was a resident of Escondido for six years. She was an executive assistant for the Fireman's Insurance Company.
Mrs. Farley was preceded in death by her husband, Michael D. Farley, Jr. on June 18, 2000. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law Michael and Mary Ann Farley III of St. Louis, Mo., half-brother Lawrence Thomas La Fond of Orlando, Fla. and grandchild Anna Kathleen Farley of St. Louis, Mo.
A memorial is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, at Resurrection Catholic Church. Inurnment will be at a later date at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, Pt. Loma.

Kerry Allen, 36
ESCONDIDO - Kerry George Allen, 36, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000.
Born Dec. 10, 1963, in Oceanside, he was a resident of Escondido for 36 years. He was employed by LC Paving in San Marcos.
Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his father, George (Smokey) Allen and brother David Allen. He is survived by his wife Deborah Allen of Escondido; mother Shirley Allen of Vista; sons Jeffery, Micheal and Timothy, all of Escondido; brothers Kelly, Lee and George of Escondido; brothers and sisters-in-law Smokey and Cindy Allen of San Marcos and Greg and Lucy Allen of Oceanside; sisters and brothers-in-law Christine and Roy Otis of Glendale, Ariz., and LC and Marisa Family.
A funeral service is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, at Eternal Hills Mortuary Chapel with interment following at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

David Weseloh, 63
ESCONDIDO - David Weseloh, 63, died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000.
Born May 5, 1937, in San Diego, he was a resident of Escondido his entire life. He was owner and operator of Rancho Metal and Supply. He was a founder of Palomar Community Band and served on its board for 18 years until his death. He was the general manager of Harding's Freight Service for over 25 years. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Escondido Elk's Lodge.
Mr. Weseloh is survived by his wife of 10 years, Catherine Weseloh of Escondido and brothers Joe Weseloh of Escondido, Bill Weseloh of Menlo Park and Dick Weseloh of Sacramento.
A service is scheduled for 11 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 30, at McLeod Mortuary Chapel. A private inurnment is planned.

Peggy Miville, 64
SAN MARCOS - Peggy Belle Miville, 64, died Friday, Nov. 24, 2000, at a local convalescent home.
Born Nov. 16, 1936, in Hot Springs, Ark., she was a resident of San Marcos for five years. She previously lived in Escondido for 11 years and Vista for 25 years. She had been a staff assistant for the City of Vista for 20 years. She was a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church in San Marcos.
Mrs. Miville is survived by her husband of 41 years, Albert P. Miville of San Marcos; sons and daughters-in-law Phillip and Kristin Miville of Enterprise, Ala.; daughters and sons-in-law Margaret and Ken Estep of Murrieta and Christina and Chris of Vista; brother Jerry Jones of Oklahoma City and six grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from 4 to 7 p.m. at Allen Brothers Mortuary, San Marcos Chapel. A Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, at St. Mark's Catholic Church in San Marcos with the Rev. Burt Boudoin officiating. Burial will follow at San Marcos Cemetery.

MURRIETA - Arline M. Ackerman, 78, died Friday, Nov. 24, 2000.
Born Aug. 29, 1922, in Reading, Pa., she was a resident of Murrieta for three years. She worked for Valley Center Elementary School as a secretary in Valley Center for eight years. She was a member of the Eastern Star of Cedar Ridge, Colo., and a member of Murrieta United Methodist Church. She enjoyed painting, sewing and craftwork.
Mrs. Ackerman is survived by daughter Claire McCrann of Murrieta; sons Dale Ackerman of Warner Springs and Dennis Ackerman of McCall, Idaho; sister Elaine Gruber of Warner Springs and five grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, at Murrieta United Methodist Church. Interment will be at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery.

Byron Vafiadi, 82
SUN CITY - Byron "Barney" Vafiadi, 82, died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000 at his home from Lou Gehrigs Disease.
Born Feb. 9, 1918, in Birmingham, Ala., he was a resident of Sun City for 14 years. He was a salesman for Mac Murray Cleaners in Whitter for 13 years and prior for Prudential Overalls Supply Co. for 31 years. He enjoyed all sports, especially golf, swimming and being in the outdoors. He was in the semi-pro baseball league for many years. He was active in coaching Little League.
Mr. Vafiadi is survived by his wife of 58 years, Charlene Vafiadi of Sun City; daughter Kathy Say of Peoria, Ariz.; son Terry Vafiadi of Huntington Beach; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Irene Seevers, 99
SUN CITY - Irene K. Seevers, 99, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000.
Born March 26, 1901, in Maritta, Ohio, she was a resident of Sun City for five years and lived in Hemet previously for 24 years. She worked for 20 years as the secretary of the CEO for Roadway Express in Akron, Ohio. She was a member of the Daughters of America.
Mrs. Seevers is survived by her son, Richard Seevers of Sun City; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Sharon Frazier, 52
ESCONDIDO - Sharon Jean Frazier, 52, died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2000, of heart failure.
Born Oct. 7, 1948, in Sanger, she was a resident of Escondido for 25 years. She was a homemaker and caretaker.
Ms. Frazier was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Frazier in December 1987. She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Rodney Maziarka of Escondido; mother Norma Frazier of Morro Bay; son David Kainan Madey of Medford, Ore.; brothers Jeffery Dale Frazier of Ventura and Stanley Frazier of Los Vegas; sisters and brothers-in-law Debbie Maziarka and Glen Aldridge and Janice Belshee and Tim Manchster, all of Escondido.
A memorial will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, at Dixon Lake Space 18.

Richard Porter, 52
LA JOLLA - Richard Howard Porter, 52, died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000, at Scripps Green Hospital of a stroke and heart attack.
Born Feb. 17, 1948, in Longwood, Fla., he was a resident of Encinitas for 30 years.
Mr. Porter was preceded in death by his mother, Nellie L. Porter, on Sept. 1, 1997. He is survived by his father, Otis T. Porter of Encinitas; brothers and sisters-in-law Bill and Celia Porter of Prescott, Ariz., and Greg Porter of Escondido; and sisters Lanell Cain and Linda Dewey, both of Encinitas.

OCEANSIDE - Bobbie J. Shelton, 68, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000.
Born Aug. 27, 1932, in Redwine, Ariz., she was a resident of Oceanside for 33 years. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Shelton was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Shelton, in 1997 and son John C. Shelton in 1969. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law James and Deborah Shelton of Vista; daughter Cynthia Windrum of Oceanside; brothers and sisters-in-law Wallace and Janice Cossey of Little Rock, Ariz., and Donny and Diane Cossey of Sherwood, Ariz.; sister and brother-in-law Doleres and Leon Southern of Bryant, Ariz.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

SAN DIEGO - Judith C. Correll, 54, died Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, at her home of an 18-year battle with breast cancer.
Born Dec. 29, 1945, in San Francisco, she was a resident of San Diego for 19 years. She was a document controller for Advanta Mortgage for 12 years, a member of St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church in Poway and Cancer Care Support Group, Palomar.
Mrs. Correll is survived by her husband of 31 years, Walter Correll of San Diego; daughter Jenifer Correll of San Diego; and brother and sister-in-law James and Lois Lamb of Los Altos.
A memorial will be held at 2 p.m Dec. 9 at St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church in Poway.

INDIO - Henrietta "Mom" Dankelmann Richter, 99, died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000.
Born June 9, 1901, in Philadelphia, she had lived in San Marcos for nearly 40 years before moving to the Palm Springs area. She was a caregiver, bookkeeper, homemaker and an avid gardener.
Mrs. Richter was preceded in death by her husband, John, and son and daughter-in-law Arthur and Helen Richter. She is survived by her son John Richter; grandchildren Barbara Richter, David Richter, Robin Foley, Gail Kull, Arthur Richter, Michael Rendino; 10 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and many friends.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. today, Nov. 30, at San Marcos Cemetery.

ESCONDIDO - Muriel Katharine "Betty" Everett, 95, died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2000, at Palomar Medical Hospital.
Born Sept. 11, 1905, in Boston, she was a resident of Escondido for 20 years. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Everett is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Dolores Elliott of Escondido; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Michael Krikorian, 57
REDONDO BEACH - Michael Krikorian, 57, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, after a lengthy illness.
Born Aug. 21, 1943, in Methuen, Mass., he was a resident of Redondo Beach for 20 years. He was self-employed in real estate.
Mr. Krikorian was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Krikorian, in January 2000. He is survived by his father, George Krikorian of Vista; brothers Harry Krikorian of Carlsbad, George Krikorian of Redondo Beach and Richard Krikorian of San Pedro; and numerous nieces and nephews.

CARLSBAD - Harry W. Ternquist, 89, died Friday, Nov. 24, 2000.
Born April 28, 1911, in Minnesota, he was a resident of Oceanside. He was the owner of Bali Hai apartments for 37 years.
Mr. Ternquist was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Ternquist, in 1993 and his brother, Elmer Ternquist, in 1992. He is survived by his niece, Jeannie Mozingo, and her husband, Dave Mozingo of Carlsbad.
