Albert Reiter, 93

SUN CITY - Albert Reiter, 93, died Tuesday, March 28, 2000, of congestive heart failure, at Menifee Valley Medical Center in Sun City.

Born Feb. 20, 1907, in New York City, he lived in Sun City for 30 years. He was a self-employed musician for 50 years and served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1945. He played in the Chicago Symphony of Music as first violinist and was in the Hemet Symphony for 15 years.

Mr. Reiter is survived by his wife, Margaret Reiter of Sun City.

Miller-Jones Mortuary & Crematory, Sun City, is handling arrangements.

Judy Koller, 49

MURRIETA - Judy Ann Koller, 49, died Saturday, March 25, 2000.

Born Feb. 15, 1951, in San Pedro, she lived in Murrieta for one year. She was a database administrator for Nextel Communications for four years. She owned Jak's Snak's, a dog-biscuit company.

Mrs. Koller is survived by her husband, Dennis Koller of Murrieta; mother and father Alice and James Holt of San Marcos; son Jacob Koller of Murrieta; and sister Alice Olsen of Clovis.

Miller-Jones Mortuary & Crematory, Sun City, is handling arrangements.

John Perez, 87

ESCONDIDO - John Encanacion Perez, 87, died Monday, March 27, 2000, in Vista.

Born May 4, 1912, in Las Cruces, N.M., he lived in Escondido for three years. He was a rancher at Wonder Y Ranch, retiring in 1979.

Mr. Perez was preceded in death by his son, Frank Perez, in 1999; daughter Jenny Villalobos, in 1988; and brother Joe Perez. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Mae Perez of Escondido; sons Joseph Perez of Valley Center and David Perez and Robert Perez, both of Escondido; daughters Almida Villalobos and Rita Wilson, both of Escondido, and Rachel Hernandez of Valley Center; sister Beatrice Munoz of Santa Ana; 27 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

A private family viewing will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday, March 31, at Cathedral of the Valley Foursquare Church in Escondido. A funeral will follow at 1 p.m., with the Revs. Tom Villalobos and Lupe Hernandez officiating. A public viewing will take place after the service. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Mauda Stephens, 95

OCEANSIDE - Mauda L. Stephens, 95, died Sunday, March 19, 2000, at a local convalescent home.

Born De. 19, 1904, in Mangum, Okla., she lived in Oceanside for 18 years. She was a healthcare technician for the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Los Angeles for 17 years and a member of the 1st Christian Church of Oceanside.

Mrs. Stephens is survived by her brother, Robert Stephens of Bandera, Texas; and niece Betty Chapman of Manteo, N.C.

A memorial service at the 1st Christian Church of Oceanside, with the Rev. Robert Case officiating, is pending. A private cremation is planned with cremains to be scattered at sea.

Hazel Neverden, 89

OCEANSIDE - Hazel Sproul Neverden, 89, died Friday, March 24, 2000, at her home.

Born Sept. 1, 1910, in Salt Lake City, she lived in Oceanside for 28 years. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Neverden was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Neverden, in 1988. She is survived by her daughters, Beth Esken of Oceanside and Barbara Wheeler of El Toro; and two grandchildren.

A private viewing and service were held.

Oceanside Mortuary handled arrangements.

Emily Frank, 89

VISTA - Emily Bertha Frank, 89, died Thursday, March 23, 2000, at Sunrise of Vista Knoll.

Born April 19, 1910, in Chicago, she lived in Vista for 10 years. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Frank is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, W.C. and Marlene Frank of Bonsall; grandson Matthew Frank of Trail, Ore.; and great-grandson Noah Frank of Trail.

No local service is planned. Burial will take place at Calumet Park cemetery in Merrillville, Ind.

Nathelle Ariaudo, 81

ESCONDIDO - Nathelle Ariaudo, 81, died Thursday, March 23, 2000, in Escondido.

Born Feb. 27, 1919, in Columbus, N.M., she lived in Escondido for three years. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Ariaudo is survived by her husband of 22 years, John A. Ariaudo of Escondido; son Reg Nicolay of Alpine; daughter Sandy Ariaudo of Escondido; sister Eleanor R. Mulvihille of Palm Desert; and grandchild Reggie T. Nicolay.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 30, at Rancho Bernardo Presbyterian Community Church. Interment will follow at noon at El Camino Memorial Park.

Clair Hammond, 59

BONSALL - Clair Anne Hammond, 59, died Friday, March 24, 2000, at Tri-City Medical Center.

Born Sept. 27, 1940, in Brooklyn, N.Y., she lived in Bonsall for five years. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Hammond is survived by her sister, June C. Kessell of Winchester, Mass.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 31, at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Fallbrook, with the Rev. Phil Tukua officiating. A private cremation is planned.

Ethel Thomas, 102

ESCONDIDO - Ethel Trueblood Thomas, 102, died Thursday, March 23, 2000, at her home.

Born June 18, 1897, in Motor, Iowa, she lived in Escondido for 36 years. She was a homemaker and a high school teacher of home economics. She was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority, a birthright Quaker and a member of the First Congregational Church since 1941. She attended Simpson College and graduated from William Penn College with a bachelor of arts in home economics.

Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by her husband, Loyal Thomas, in 1966. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Oliver and Virginia Thomas of Escondido; brother Dr. Clare Trueblood of Indianola, Iowa; and great-granddaughter Amy.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, April 2, at the First Congregational Church in Escondido, with the Rev. James Fredette officiating. A private family interment will take place at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

The family suggests memorial donations to the First Congregational Church, 1800 N. Broadway, Escondido, CA 92025; or Escondido Community Health Center Endowment Fund, 201 E. Grand Ave., Suite 20, Escondido, CA 92025.

Frances Hillhouse, 82

ESCONDIDO - Frances L. Hillhouse, 82, died Sunday, March 26, 2000, in Escondido.

Born March 22, 1918, in Missouri, she lived in Escondido. She worked for Dr. Bernard Paletz before retiring.

Mrs. Hillhouse was preceded in death by her husband, Howard W. Hillhouse, in 1984. She is survived by her son, Michael Hillhouse of Colorado Springs, Colo.; daughters Jane Fischer of Boulder City, Nev., and Patti Torres of Aliso Viejo; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-granchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 30, at Eternal Hills Mortuary.

The family suggests memorial donations to Elizabeth Hospice, 150 W. Crest St., Escondido, CA 92025.

Elizabeth Lee, 86

OCEANSIDE - Elizabeth Hickman Lee, 86, died Thursday, March 23, 2000, at Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation.

Born April 2, 1913, in Gould, Ark., she lived in Oceanside for 15 years. She was a self-employed private nurse, retiring in 1986.

Mrs. Lee is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn Jones of Chicago, Carleen and Excell Thomas of St. Louis, and Audra and Larry Popp of Oceanside; sister Susie Lee of Jackson, Miss.; grandchildren Snow, Stephanie, Alan, Phyllis, Jerome, Carleen, Stratton, Devin and Marque; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation and viewing will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 1, 2000, at Eternal Hills Chapel. A funeral will follow at 1 p.m., with Chaplain Laverne Root officiating. Burial will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, April 3, at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

Henri Ghilbert, 67

SAN DIEGO - Henri R. Ghilbert, 67, died Friday, March 24, 2000, at San Diego Country Estates.

Born April 29, 1932, in Normandy, France, he lived in San Diego for 23 years. He was a mechanical engineer for NASSCO ship building in San Diego for 25 years and served in the French Navy before moving to the United States.

Mr. Ghilbert is survived by his wife of 44 years, Jeanne S. Ghilbert of Ramona; and four sisters in France.

A private family service and private cremation will be held.

The family suggests memorial donations to the Animals Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, 18740 Highland Valley Road, Ramona, CA 92065.

Santo Serani, 64

CARLSBAD - Santo Serani, 64, died Thursday, March 23, 2000.

Born Oct. 12, 1935, in Hartford, Conn., he lived in Carlsbad. He was an expediter at Pratt & Whitney before retiring.

Mr. Serani was preceded in death by his daughter, Shannon Ann Serani. He is survived by his companion, Joan C. Stabenau; daughters Shelley Ann Serani-Umberger and Sanlyn Ann Serani; brother John Serani; and sister Lucille Zanolli.

A private memorial service will be held at San Diego Hospice Hospital.

Vivian Dunn, 65

SAN MARCOS - Vivian May Dunn, 65, died Wednesday, March 22, 2000, of lung cancer, at her home.

Born July 10, 1934, in Ohio, she lived in San Marcos for 15 years. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Dunn is survived by her husband of 46 years, Jack Dunn of San Marcos; son and daughter-in-law Dave and Tena Dunn of San Marcos; brothers Hal Lewis and Pat Lewis, both of La Costa, and Dwight Lewis and Billy Lewis, both of Phoenix.

No service will be held at the request of the deceased. A private cremation is planned with cremains to be scattered at sea.

Cora Carr, 98

CARLSBAD - Cora Carr, 98, died Friday, March 24, 2000, at Scripps Ocean View in Encinitas.

Born Sept. 9, 1901, in Orange, Texas, she lived in Carlsbad for 14 years and previously lived in Orange County from 1954 to 1986. She was a homemaker for 58 years and was a founding member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Vista.

Mrs. Carr was preceded in death by her husband, Loran H. Carr Sr., in 1958. She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law Loran H. Carr Jr. of Gainesville Ga., and John and Randi Carr of Carlsbad; daughter Carolyn Hindman of Oceanside; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

A Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 31, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, with the Rev. Peter McGuine officiating. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. at Holy Sepulcher cemetery in Orange.

The family suggests memorial donations to the St. Thomas More Catholic Church Building Fund, 1910 Shadowridge Drive, Vista, CA 92083; or Oceanside Adult Day Care Center Activity Fund, 602 Civic Center Drive, Oceanside, CA 92054.

OCEANSIDE - Cheryl Ann Meeker, 52, died Monday, March 20, 2000, in Oceanside.

Born July 23, 1947, in Aurora, Ill., she lived in Oceanside for 23 years. She was a clerical worker for the state of California.

Ms. Meeker is survived by her mother and father, Florence and Lyle White of Oceanside; and son Jack Meeker of Oceanside.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 1, at King of Kings Lutheran Church in Oceanside. A private cremation is planned.

The family suggests memorial donations to King of Kings Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 2993 Macdonald Oceanside, CA 92054.

Michele Lanning, 50

VISTA - Michele Ann Lanning, 50, died Saturday, March 25, 2000, at Tri-City Medical center.

Born June 7, 1949, in Pasadena, she lived in Vista and San Diego for 25 years. She was an office manager for Kirchnavy Construction for four years.

Mrs. Lanning is survived by her daughter, Kimberly A. Lanning of Carlsbad; and sister Lisa Radthornes of Washington.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 31, at Allen Brothers Mortuary, Vista Chapel, with Chaplain F. Ted Johnson of Hospice of the North Coast officiating. A private cremation is planned.

Sarah Zimmer, 67

CARLSBAD - Sarah L. "Sally" Zimmer, 67, died Sunday, March 26, 2000, at her home in Carlsbad.

Born April 28, 1932, in Seattle, she lived in Carlsbad for eight years.

Mrs. Zimmer is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Mary Zimmer of Carlsbad and Julie and Mike Carpenter of San Diego; sister Janet Shelton of Carlsbad; and granddaughter Megan Carpenter.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 31, at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Carlsbad. Interment will follow at El Camino Memorial Park in San Diego.

The family suggests memorial donations to St. Vincent DePaul, 1550 Market St., San Diego, CA 92101; or Masses be said at the church.
