ESCONDIDO - Ernestine A. Thuneman, 83, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, at Palomar Continuing Care Center.
Born Oct. 7, 1916, in California, she lived in Escondido for 35 years. She was the bookkeeper for Rexall drug store in Ramona and was a member of the Sunshine Club at Mobile Home West.
Mrs. Thuneman was preceded in death by her first husband, James Gulley, in 1961; and her second husband, Richard Thuneman, in 1984. She is survived by her daughters, Joy L. Clyde of Yucca Valley and Janet Clyde of Northern California; brother Herbert Jackson of Indio; sisters Bonnie Faye of New Mexico and Elosie O'Boyle of Garden Grove; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

OCEANSIDE - Grace Huizar Miller, 79, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, at Villa Rancho Bernardo.
Born Aug. 9, 1920, in San Diego, she lived in Oceanside for 79 years. She was the owner/operator of Vista village Cafe for nine years and owned and operated Village Pantry in Carlsbad in the 1960s.
Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her husband, Everette Miller, in 1967. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Erin Miller of Kerrville, Texas; son-in-law Frank Szubart of Temecula; daughter Elizabeth Szubart of Oceanside; sister Marina Garcia of Carlsbad; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A private family service will be held at a later date.

ESCONDIDO - Alberta Smith, 86, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, in San Marcos.
Born June 2, 1913, in California, she lived in Escondido for 12 years. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her sons, Jim Smith of Escondido and Jerry Smith of Long Beach; sister Eulla Switzer of Claremont; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A cryptside memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, March 5, at Pomona Valley Memorial Park, with Ed. Stinson officiating.

Merritt Perkins, 73
FALLBROOK - Merritt "Bud" Holden Perkins Jr., 73, died; Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2000, in Fallbrook.
Born Aug. 4, 1926, in Denver, he lived in Fallbrook for 15 years. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and was a marketing manager for Continental Airlines for 35 years.
Mr. Perkins is survived by his wife, Patricia M. Perkins of Fallbrook; sons Merritt H. Perkins III of Kerrville, Texas, Russ Perkins of Dallas and Randy Perkins of Broken Arrow, Okla.; sister Mildred Marker of Albuquerque, N.M.; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held Friday, Feb. 18, at Berry-Bell & Hall Mortuary. A funeral service took place Saturday, Feb. 19, at Berry-Bell & Hall Chapel, with the Rev. Bernie Rapp officiating. Interment followed at Fallbrook Masonic Cemetery.

OCEANSIDE - Steven Webb, 24, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, at UCSD Medical Center.
Born June 20, 1975, in North Carolina, he lived in Oceanside for 24 years. He was a 1995 graduate of El Camino High School and worked for McDonalds. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church Youth Group.
Mr. Webb is survived by his mother and father, Irene and Dick Webb of Oceanside; grandmother Lillian Webb of Vista; brothers and sisters-in-law Rick and Beth Webb of Virginia, Kirk and Linnea Webb of Texas and Mark Webb of Oceanside; sisters and brother-in-law Terri and William Lizalde of Oceanside and Tammy Webb of Burbank; and four nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 5, at the First Presbyterian Church in Oceanside, with the Revs. Duane Walker and Jan Farley officiating. A reception will follow. Inurnment will take place at a later time.

Mr. Gebhardt is survived by his wife, Antoinette Gebhardt of Oceanside; son Alexander Gebhardt of Florida; and daughter Jennifer Gebhardt of Oceanside.

Born Feb. 14, 1926, in Wisconsin, she was a legal secretary before retiring.
Mrs. Denny is survived by her husband of 20 years, Warren Denny of Escondido; son and daughter-in-law Kenneth and Annette Raatz of Maryland; three sisters; and grandchildren Brian and Nicholas Raatz.

born Nov. 7, 1964, in Fairfield, she lived in Ramona for 8 1/2 years. She graduated from Azusa Pacific University in 1986 and received her master's degree in social work from the University of Southern California. She was a social worker in Los Angeles and a foster mother.
Mrs. Fish is survived by her mother Ethel Fish of Canon City, Colo.; sons Jonathan David Fish and Jeremiah Michael Fish, both of Ramona; daughter Alyssa Nicole Fish of Ramona; and brothers Michael D. Fish of Lake Elsinore and Dean Lee Fish of Canon City.

Mrs. Costa was preceded in death by her daughter, Rose Marie Jones. She is survived by her son, Michael Costa of Escondido; daughter Libby Costa of Rancho Bernardo; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

David Emanuelson, 75
OCEANSIDE - David Thomas Emanuelson, 75, died of cancer.
Born Sept. 25, 1924, in Zion, Ill., he lived in Oceanside for 16 years. He was a home builder and real estate broker. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and the National Aeronautics Association.
Mr. Emanuelson was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Mabel Emanuelson; and his sister, Mabel Grace Emanuelson Mathison, in 1987. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, David N. and Sharon Emanuelson of De Kalb, Ill.; Martin and Nancy Emanuelson of Downers Grove, Ill., Michael Emanuelson of Jeffersonville, Ind., and Hugh Emanuelson of Fallbrook; sisters Ruth Emanuelson and Jean Marberg, both of Oceanside, and Miriam Emanuelson of Vista; and grandchildren John, Edward, Emily, David, Joseph, Jaclyn, Amy and Benjamin.
A memorial service will be held at San Luis Rey Valley United Methodist Church in Oceanside. Interment will take place at Rosecrans National cemetery in Point Loma.

Born Nov. 25, 1906, in Scotland, she lived in Rancho Bernardo for 14 years. She was a real estate broker, operating Pennebaker Realty in Los Angeles.
Mrs. Pennebaker was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Pennebaker in 1976; and her son, Kenneth Hall, in 1998. She is survived by her stepson and stepdaughter-in-law, Robert and Dorothy Pennebaker of Michigan; stepdaughter and stepson-in-law Pearl and Claud Franklin of West Virginia; daughter-in-law Margaret Hall of Michigan; sisters Elizabeth Smith and Gertrude Hubbard, both of Canada; grandchildren Susanne and Paul Hartman and Steven and Gloria Hall, all of Michigan; and great-grandchildren Kelli Hartman, Stephanie Hall and Ashley Hall, all of Michigan.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 2, at Rancho Bernardo Presbyterian Church. A private cremation is planned with burial to take place in Michigan.

OCEANSIDE - Roswald Glenn Everett Guberud, 74, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at Scripps Hospital in La Jolla.
Born Feb. 24, 1926, in Kindred, Cass County, North Dakota, he lived in Oceanside for 22 years. He worked for San Diego Gas & Electric, served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Mr. Guberud was preceded in death by his daughter, Wendee Renee Guberud, in 1967. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Lorraine Arois of Oceanside; sons Bradley Peter Guberud and Jeffrey August Guberud, both of Davenport, Iowa, and Craig Edwin Guberud of Oceanside; daughter Pamela Jane Guberud Francis of Park City, Utah; grandchildren Corey, Eric, Tami, Shelly, Todd, Emily, Krista, Kelly, Jessica, Katie and Johnathon; and great-grandchildren Easton, Christian and Laywer.
Viewing will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 3, at Eternal Hills Mortuary. A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, March 4, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, First Ward, on California Street in Oceanside, with Bishop Greg Wood officiating. James Houser, 85
FALLBROOK - James G. Houser, 85, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, of a stroke, in Fallbrook.
Born Feb. 22, 1915, in Swanton, Neb., he lived in Lincoln, Neb. He served in the U.S. military. He was a motorcycle police officer in Lincoln for six years and worked for the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of the Western Fraternal Lodge in Lincoln and St. Teresa Catholic Church, serving as usher.
Mr. Houser was preceded in death by his brother, Bob Houser; and grandchildren Courtney Brooke Tunnel and Jon Patrick Houser. He is survived by his wife of nearly 63 years, Blanche K. Houser of Lincoln; sons James Frank Houser and Donald Joseph Houser, both of Lincoln; daughter Phyllis J. Krenz-Sweeney of Fallbrook; sister Evelyn Clopine of Milpitas; grandchildren Randy and Dana Houser, Roy and Brooke Tunnell and Kyle Krenz; and great-grandchildren Garrett, Bailey, Sydney, Olivia and Jonathan Houser.
A vigil was held and rosary recited Monday, Feb. 28, in Lincoln. A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Teresa's Catholic Church.

Born May 18, 1940, in Los Angeles, she lived in Escondido for 30 years. She was a homemaker for 43 years and a member of Crosswinds Community Church.
Mrs. Higgins is survived by her husband of 19 years, Daniel E. Higgins of Escondido; sons Daryl Voeltner of Tucson, Ariz., Jeffrey Voeltner of Las Vegas and Kevin Voeltner Sr. of Oceanside; daughters Jennifer Ferry of North Carolina and Renee Jenkins of Escondido; 15 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
