Alberta Bishop, 86
ENCINITAS - Alberta S. Bishop, 86, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, at the Escondido Care Center in Escondido.
Born May 7, 1914, in Lockport, N.Y., she lived in Encinitas for 28 years. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Bishop is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Charmain and Kirk Brogdon of Temecula, Cynthia and Michael St. Clair of San Diego, Christine Bishop of Encinitas; son Douglas Bishop of San Diego and two grandsons.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26, at the Encinitas Chapel. A private interment will be held at a later date at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

Kristina Hogan, 20
FALLBROOK - Kristina Marie Hogan, 20, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2001, at Montana de Oro State Park in Los Osos.
Born Sept. 25, 1980, in San Clemente, she lived in Fallbrook. She was a junior at Cal Poly State University at San Luis Obispo. She had attended Live Oak School, Potter School and Fallbrook High School and graduated from San Clemente High School.
Ms. Hogan is survived by mother and step-father Cindy and Jim Dillon of Brighton, Mich., formerly of Fallbrook; father Jim Hogan of San Clemente; sister Jennifer Hogan of San Clemente; grandparents, Joan and Douglas Anderson of Fallbrook; grandfather Paul Hogan of San Clemente; two uncles; two aunts and five cousins.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Jan. 13, in San Clemente and on Jan. 18, at the Cal Poly campus in San Luis Obispo.
A memorial scholarship fund has been established in Ms. Hogan's name for Fallbrook High School students c/o Bank of American, 1125 S. Main St., Fallbrook, CA. 92028.

Russell Thibodo, 78
VISTA - Russell Lewis Thibodo, 78, died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2001, at his home.
Born Nov. 27, 1922, in Hayward, he lived in Vista for 60 years. He was a Real Estate developer and public works contractor for over 40 years. He served in U.S. Air Force during World War II, was a 10-year former member of Tri City Hospital Board of Directors. He was a strong supporter of his favorite charities, YMCA; 4H Club, Vista Little League, Vista Boys and Girls Club and Vista Optimist Club.
Mr. Thibodo is survived by his wife of 55 years, Margaret J. Thibodo of Vista; son Gary R. Thibodo of Vista; daughters and sons-in-law Janice and Stub Free of Wyoming, Nancy and Doug Beckett of Paso Robles and Denise Hicks of Vista; sister and brother-in-law Marilyn and Roger of Newport Beach and 10 grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, at Riverview Church in Bonsall. A private cremation is planned.

May Rathbart
RANCHO BERNARDO - May Rathbart died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2001.
Born in Belle Harbor, N.Y., she was a graduate of Pratt Institute of Design/Fashion and attended Golden Oak Adult School for painting. She sold hundreds of paintings in such places as Guam and Budapest, Hungary. She was an award-winning artist. She was a member of the Coronado Art Association, the Rancho Bernardo Art Association, the Escondido Art Association and a charter member of the 10 North artist group. She was a charter member of the Society of Fine Arts and the Carlsbad-Oceanside Art League.
Mrs. Rathbart is survived by her husband, Bert Rathbart of Rancho Bernardo; daughter Randi of San Diego and son Matthew of San Diego.
A memorial service and celebration of life is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, at Oaks North Community Center, 12578 Oaks North Drive in Rancho Bernardo.

Arthur Aull, 80
OCEANSIDE - Arthur H. Aull, 80, died Monday, Jan. 22, 2001.
Born Jan. 11, 1921, in Walhalla, S.C., he lived in Oceanside for three years. He was a pilot and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
Mr. Aull was preceded in death by his parents William and Mabel Aull. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Rilda R. Aull of Oceanside; son and daughter-in-law Joe and Cheryl Aull of Ashville, N.C.; daughters and son-in-law Virginia and Charles Corrigan of Manassas Va. and Karen Di Francia of San Diego; sister Rowena Hansen of Phoenix; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

OCEANSIDE - Kendrick Reilly Bradley, infant, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, at Tri City Hospital.
He was born Jan. 5, 2001.
Baby Bradley is survived by mother Kimberly Rebecca Bradley; father Gregory Harrison Bradley and brother Baelin Oakleigh Pastorius all of Oceanside.
A graveside service with rosary recited was held at noon, Saturday, Jan. 20, at San Luis Rey Mission.

Lela Tyrell, 93
CARLSBAD - Lela Deaton Trayer Tyrell, 93, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000.
Born in 1906 in Omaha, Neb. she lived in Carlsbad, Miles City, Mont., San Marcos, Seattle and Denver.
Mrs. Tyrell served in the U.S. Navy. She was a nurse. She was proud to hang two stars in her window for her sons during World War II. Her grandfather served in the war between the states and she was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Mrs. Tyrell was preceded in death by husband Edward Trayer in 1960, second husband Harry Tyrell in 1979 and daughter Elizabeth in 1986. She is survived by children, Gene Trayer of South Carolina, Bonnie Niles of Miles City, Montana, Jack Trayer of Carlsbad and Patricia Christopherson of Miles City, Montana; sisters Arline Whitt of Galiton, Missouri, Marcile Gerlt of Mt. Veron, Washington.
A memorial is scheduled for Feb. 10 at the Trayer home in Carlsbad.
David Sawyer, 87
VISTA - David Curtis Sawyer, 87, died Monday, Jan. 22, 2001, at his home.
Born March 5, 1913, in Goodhue, Minn., he lived in Vista for 30 years and previously in Redlands for 24 years. He had been an accountant and office manager for Brookside Dairy in Redlands for 21 years. He graduated from West High School in Minneapolis and attended University of Minnesota. He worked in the family bank and then the Federal Land Bank in St. Paul before moving to Honolulu where he worked as an auditor and Navy cost inspector. He served as a tech sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II. He enjoyed gardening, travel and golf.
Mr. Sawyer is survived by his wife of 59 years, Neva B. Sawyer of Vista; sons and daughter-in-law Dr. David J. and Patty of Reno, Nev. and Thomas W. Sawyer of Vista and grandchildren Mike Sawyer of Seattle and Diana Sawyer of Reno, Nev.
Cremation will take place with inurnment at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, with a private family service at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 27.

Kenneth Bowe, 73
RAMONA - Kenneth Michael Bowe, 73, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, at his home.
Born April 14, 1927, in New York, N.Y., he lived in Ramona for three years and the county for 17 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked for the U.S. government for 30 years with the Department of Justice.
Mr. Bowe was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Bowe, in 1991. He is survived by son Guy Bowe of Ramona; daughter Candice Lynn Funk of Ramona; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Private family services have been held.
Annamaria Valenzuela, 35
ESCONDIDO - Annamaria Valenzuela, 35, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, in San Diego.
Born Nov. 21, 1965, in Escondido, she lived in Escondido for 35 years.
She was a homemaker and a longtime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She loved all animals, cooking, sewing, hair dressing and computers.
Ms. Valenzuela is survived by her mother Lorenza Valenzuela of Escondido; brothers Anthony Valenzuela of Escondido; brother and sister-in-law Rubin and Brenda Valenzuela of Vista and sisters and brothers-in-law Maria and Mario Cornejo of Escondido and Rosemarie and John Volpe of Temecula.
Viewing is scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. with rosary recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, at Alhiser-Comer Mortuary.
A Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 130 E. 13th Ave. in Escondido.
The graveside service will follow the Mass at Oakhill Memorial Park.

OCEANSIDE ?- Alopey Feliciana Rojelio, 5, died Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, at Tri City Medical Center of a brief illness.
Born March 7, 1995, in Oxnard, she lived in Oceanside. She was in kindergarten at Oscar Palmquist Elementary School.

Gerald Floyd, 67
OCEANSIDE ?- Gerald L. Floyd, 67, died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at his home.
Mr. Floyd lived in Oceanside. He was a pilot in the U.S. Air Force and retired as a lieutenant colonel having served two tours in Vietnam. He received several decorations.
Mr. Floyd is survived by wife Sue Floyd; son Danny Floyd; and daughter Lori Sendrowski.
A private family memorial service is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 29, at Camp Pendleton Chapel.

ESCONDIDO - Dorothy Marie Preston, 86, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, at Palomar Medical Center.
Born Nov. 30, 1914, at St. Paul, Minn., she lived in Escondido for 22 years. She was a cook at Lakeland Elementary School.
Mrs. Preston is survived by sons James Preston of White Bear Lake, Minn., Peter Preston of Hastings, Minn., and Dale Preston of Stillwater, Minn.; daughter Karen Nelson of Escondido; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, at Cornerstone Church, with the Rev. Matthew Currie officiating.
James Freeman, 42
PALA - James Denver Freeman, 42, died Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, at Palomar Medical Center in Escondido.
Born June 20, 1958, in Fallbrook, he lived in Pala for 42 years.
Mr. Freeman is survived by mother Pauline (Bobbie) Freeman of Pala; brother Doug Freeman Sr. of Pala; sisters and Brothers-in-law Deanne and Al Garcia of Pala and Nicole and Tony Ravago of Pala; uncles Race Freeman of Pala, Ellis Denver and Alvin Noami Denver, both of Roosevelt, Utah, and Jerry Padilla of Orlando, Fla.; aunts Edith Gardner of Roosevelt, Utah, Joyce Lawson of Violet Inglett; June Freeman of Pala and Theresa Denver of Pala; one niece, five nephews; one great nephew and numerous cousins.
Visitation is scheduled at 5:30 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26, at Mission San Antonio De Pala. Funeral is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, at Mission San Antonio De Pala and interment will follow the service.
Leo Milner, 85
CARLSBAD - Leo Milner, 85, died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2001, at his home.
Born Jan. 10, 1916, in Philadelphia, he lived in Carlsbad for 17 years. He was a regional audit director with the Department of Health, Education and Welfare prior to his retirement.
Mr. Milner is survived by his wife, Loretta M. Milner of Carlsbad; daughters and sons-in-law Gayle and Jim Moroney of Hidden Hills, Cindy Heatherly and Luigi Francisco of Carlsbad, Bobbie and Steve Sauer of Hutchinson, Kan.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Ervin Lobpreis, 76
ESCONDIDO ?- Ervin Lobpreis, 76, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2001, at Palomar Hospital.
Born July 11, 1924, in Ivancice, Czech Republic, he lived in Escondido for 10 years. He had a U. S. Navy career as a medical surgeon. He retired as a Captain in 1986 after 28 years of service. He was a Vietnam veteran and his decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Naval Commendation, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and the Navy Unit Commendation. He was actively involved in the Boy Scouts, member of the Flying Doctors and active with the ex-patriate Czech community. He pioneered research in hyperbaric medicine.
Mr. Lobpreis is survived by son Andrew Lobpreis of Melbourne, Fla., daughters Helen Koudelkova and Libor Koudelka of Nashville, Tenn. and grandchildren Antonin and Lubos Koudelka.
Viewing is scheduled from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, at Forest Lawn Mortuary in Glendale. A funeral service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 29, at Church of the Recessional, Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, burial will follow.
Maye White, 97
OCEANSIDE - Maye Geneva White, 97, died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, in Klamath Falls, Ore., of natural causes.
Born April 20, 1903, in Meeker, Okla., she lived in Oceanside for 31 years. During World War II she worked as a registrar of Japanese immigrants for San Gabriel Valley. Later she worked at the San Marion Public Library as an assistant librarian, retiring in 1968. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, bingo and gardening. She was a member of the Ladies Postal Carriers Auxiliary.
Mrs. White was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall White, on July 14, 1963. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Virginia and John Cross of Tulelake; brother Andy Wilkison of Arroyo Grande; grandchildren John and Susan Cross, Diane and Mike Tyrholm, and Robert and Maria Cross; great-grandchildren Jeremy and Shawn Cross, John and Jordan Tyrholm and Jamie Cross.
A memorial service was held Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, at O'Hair & Riggs Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Billy Hamblin of Calvary Temple, Klamath Falls officiating. A graveside service was held on Monday, Jan. 22, at Rose Hills Cemetery in Whittier.
