Jett Reilly, 6
VALLEY CENTER - Jett Colton Reilly, 6, died Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, in Children's Hospital, San Diego, as a result of an accident.
Born Dec. 4, 1994, in San Diego, he lived in Valley Center for six years. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and attended Valley Center Primary School. He loved all sports, playing with his brothers, sisters and cousins. He loved to read and color.
Jett is survived by his parents Kris and Russell Wayne Reilly of Valley Center; brothers A.J. Reilly, Trevor Reilly, Drew Reilly and Beau Reilly, all of Valley Center; sister Savanna Reilly of Valley Center; grandparents Wayne and Gail Reilly of Valley Center and Harlan and Dorthy Johnson of Minnesota, Ty and Cindy Johnson of Minnesota and Erick and Wendy Johnson of Minnensota; uncles and aunts Keith and Tori Reilly, Scott and Wendy Kimball, all of Valley Center; cousins Shaun and Cameron Kimball, Paige, Regan, Sidney, Trent and Rhett Reilly, all of Valley Center, Aubrey, Taggert, Riley, Tyrel, Colton, Hannah, Ellen, and Nathan Johnson, all of Minnesota.
A funeral is scheduled for noon, Thursday, Jan. 25, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints of Valley Center with the Rev. Tom Hefferon officiating. Burial will follow at Valley Center Cemetery.

Celestina Lorenzo, 69
OCEANSIDE - Celestina V. Lorenzo, 69, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, in Moreno Valley.
Born June 19, 1931, in the Philippines, she was a resident of Oceanside for 13 years.
Ms. Lorenzo is survived by son Reynaldo Camacho of the Philippines; daughters and sons-in-law Nancy Grant of Oceanside, Elena and Wilfred Asuten of the Philippines and Luzminva and Ednel Naguit of the Philippines; sister Carmen Bautista of the Philippines and eight grandchildren.
Visitation was scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, at Eternal Hills Mortuary. A funeral was held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, at Eternal Hills Mortuary with the Rev. David Plank officiating. There was a private cremation.

Myrtis Gulath, 77
FALLBROOK - Myrtis "Dixie" Fife Gulath, 77, died Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, at home of natural causes after a long illness.
Born April, 7, 1923, in Rayville, La., she lived in Fallbrook for 19 years. She worked in the Zion Lutheran Thrift Shop and was an active member in the church. She also served as a volunteer driver for Meals-on-Wheels in La Jolla.
Mrs. Gulath was preceded in death by her parents Blanche and Watson H. Fife in March 1978. She in survived by her husband of 42 years, Raymond Gulath of Fallbrook; daughters Sandra Bagley of Salt Lake City and Pamala Wilson of Fallbrook; daughter and son-in-law Patricia and William Hogue of Lakeside; brother Alvin Fife of Orlando, Fla., sisters Vivian Warren of Montclair and Jane Burgess of Houston; grandchildren Todd and wife Brittney Bagley and Paige Bagley of Salt Lake City, Joshua and Sean Hogue of Lakeside and great-grandchild Dain Bagley of Salt Lake City.

Chad Hama, 19
CARLSBAD - Chad Jace Hama, 19, died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001, as a result of a motorcycle accident in San Luis Obispo.
Born June 6, 1981, in San Jose, he lived in Carlsbad for 17 years. He was a business major at Questa College in San Luis Obispo and planned to transfer to Cal-Polly next fall. He was interested in all sports.
Mr. Hama is survived by his parents, Milo and Susan Hama of Carlsbad; sister Jill Hama of Santa Barbara, brother Tayler Hama of Carlsbad and grandparents Masakazu and Mitsu Hama of San Jose.
A Catholic vigil is scheduled for 6 p.m., tonight, Jan. 23, at the El Camino Memorial/Sorrento Valley Chapel in San Diego. A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, at St. John's Catholic Church, in Encinitas, followed by interment at the Old Mission San Luis Rey Cemetery, San Luis Rey.

OCEANSIDE - Bonnie Sue Fleming, 56, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001.
Born Nov. 12, 1944, in Westridge, Ark., she lived in Oceanside for 29 years. She was a secretary for Scripps Clinic in Encinitas.
Mrs. Fleming is survived by son Robert Fleming of Vista; daughters Renee Fernandez of Oceanside; brothers Robert Johnson of Etowah, Ark., Bobbie Johnson of Yorba Linda, Nathan Johnson of Blytheville, Ark., Harvey Johnson, Fred Johnson and Grady Johnson al of Osceola, Ark.; sisters Nora Ferguson of Etowah, Ark., Peggy Morgan of Caraway, Ark., Carolyn Moore of Monette, Ark. and Martha Jo Hass of Oceanside and two grandchildren.

RAMONA - Mary Elizabeth Rath 83, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, at a San Diego area convalescent hospital.
Born March 24, 1917, in Cleveland, she lived in the San Diego area since 1945. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Rath was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Joseph E. Rath, in Feburary 1989. She is survived by son David Rath of Nevada City; daughters Cindy Ives and Mary Jo Campbell, both of San Diego; brothers John Erpenbeck of Oregon and Eugene Erpenbeck of Ramona; sister Helen Wheat of Napa and three grandchildren.
A Mass will be celebrated at noon, Wednesday, Jan. 24, at Holy Cross Chapel in San Diego with graveside services with burial following at Nuevo Memory Gardens.

Born March 8, 1903, in Hemer, Germany, she lived in Escondido for 40 years.
Mrs. Schafer is survived by son Friedhelm Schafer of Murrieta and son-in-law Heinz Hopp of Vista; sister-in-law Elli Stampp of Escondido; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.

Howard Humphrey, 75
VISTA - Howard Tyler Humphrey, 75, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, at Tri City Medical Center.
Born Aug. 26, 1925, in Hanover, N.H., he lived in Vista for four months and was formerly of Oceanside.
He retired 10 years ago as an electronic engineer for the U.S. government. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Mr. Humphrey is survived by his wife Helen Humphrey of Vista; sons James Humphrey of Scotsdale, Ariz., and Thomas Humphrey of Phoenix; daughters Susan Humphrey of San Ramon and Carol Falls of Ramona; brother Robert Humphrey of Buffalo, N.Y. and four grandchildren.

VISTA - Isoyo Drew, 74, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001.
Born May 14, 1926, in Japan, she lived in Vista.
Mrs. Drew was preceded in death by her husband, Chuck Drew, about 18 years ago. She is survived by her three sisters in Japan.
No services are planned at the request of the deceased. Her cremains will be scattered at sea.

ESCONDIDO - Arthur W. Leighton, 76, died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, in Oceanside.
Born July 29, 1924, in Massachusetts, he lived in Escondido for 15 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Mr. Leighton is survived by daughter and son-in-law Sigrie and Bill Potter of Pleasanton and two grandchildren.

Born Sept. 13, 1931, in Florida, she lived in Vista for two years. She was a retired medical secretary and a member of the United Methodist Church in Vista.
Mrs. Schurr is survived by daughters, Susie Schurr and Lauren Schurr, both of Ramona and son Ken Rumbaugh of Ramona.

OCEANSIDE - Faiva LeSolosa ole Ma'oputasi Tuata Mauga, 82, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2001, at his home.
Born April 7, 1918, in Papua, New Guinea, he lived in Oceanside for 14 years. He was a deacon and lay minister of First Samoan Congregational Church of Honolulu. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.

ESCONDIDO - Joseph Thomas Kansas, 86, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, at Alterra in Oceanside.
Born Dec. 14, 1914, in Elizabeth, Pa., he lived in Escondido for 31 years. He was a retired automotive mechanic with Shell Oil after 30 years. He served in the U.S. Army from 1940-1946 and fought in the European Theater during World War II and received the Purple Heart.
Mr. Kansas is survived by his wife of 55 years, Leslie Kansas of Escondido; daughters Carol West of Escondido Virginia Appleman of Carlisle, Pa., and Leslie Poirier of Evansville, Ind.; brother George Kansas of Follansby, W. Va.; sisters Julie Zembry of Ohio, Stella Preat of Follansby, W.Va., and Annie Androff of Hemet; grandchildren Jamie, Doug and Michael Kansas, Stephanie Gonzalez Wendy and Stefan West, Natalie, Eric and Sally Beane and Brett, Justin and Trevor Poirier and great-grandchild Joaquin Gonzalez.

ESCONDIDO - Vincent Clingo, 79, died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2001, at his home.
Born Dec. 2, 1921, in Italy, he lived in Escondido for one year.
Mr. Clingo is survived by his wife, Carmen Clingo of Escondido; son and daughter-in-law Richard and Linda Clingo of Stuart, Fla.; daughter and son-in-law Rosemary and John Nigro of San Marcos; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held on Jan. 17, at Community Center at Imperial Mobile Estates.
Elena Lara, 86
VISTA - Elena Catherine (Katie) Lara, 86, died Monday, Jan. 22, 2001, in San Diego.
Born Jan. 7, 1915, in Valle De Santiago, GTO, Mexico, she lived in Vista for 68 years. She was a member of Rebekkah Lodge, Vista, Vista Historical Society, and the Wesleyan Methodist Church.
Mrs. Lara was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel J. Lara in 1983. She is survived by daughters and son-in-law Luisa Burklow of Vista and Danielle and Jesse Valenzuela of Vista; brother and sister-in-law Tony and Phyllis Mata of Carlsbad; sisters and brothers-in-law Margie and Alfinio Lara of Vista, Amparo and David Martinez of Carlsbad, Virginia and Tony Sanchez of Oceanside and Gladys Romero of Hanford; grandchildren Lisa Nicolai, Donnie Burklow, Daniel Valenzuela and Elena Valenzuela and great-grandchildren Denise, Mike, Bridget and Travis.

Mary Blackwood, 94
ESCONDIDO - Mary Dorothy Blackwood, 94, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, at Secure Seniors.
Born April, 14, 1906, in Columbus, Wis., she lived in Escondido for one and a half years. She was a homemaker for 62 years and a member of Wale's Women's Club; Christian Women's Club and an active member of Bellevue Heights Baptist Church in Sun City, Ariz.
Mrs. Blackwood was preceded in death by her husband Leonard Blackwood in 1997 and grandson Howard Hash in 2000. She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Matthew Blackwood of Bellingham, Wash., Mark and Susan Blackwood of Deming, Wash., and John and Beth Blackwood of Bellingham, Wash.; daughter Edye Marin of Escondido; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.
A private family memorial is planned in Sun City, Ariz.

FALLBROOK - Gwendolyn Christine McClurg, 82, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, at Beverly Oaks Assisted Living in Murrieta.
Born Oct. 13, 1918, in Ripley, Miss., she lived in Fallbrook for one year.
She was a homemaker for over 40 years and a member of the El Centro Southern Baptist Church in El Centro.
Mrs. McClurg is survived by her husband of 52 years, Theodore H. McClurg of Fallbrook; sons Michael McClurg of Solana Beach and Phillip McClurg of Fallbrook; brother John Harrell of Memphis, Tenn. and two grandchildren.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later time with a private cremation and scattering at sea.
