Bennie Morgan, 89
Oceanside --- Bennie James Morgan, 89, died Wednesday, Jan 17, 2001, in Vista. Born June 28, 1911, in North Carolina, she was a resident of Oceanside for ten years.
She was an administrative assistant for Mercy Hospital in North Carolina, retiring in 1976 and a member of Tri-City Baptist Church.
Mrs. Morgan was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe Howard Morgan. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law Sydney Howard and Linda Kay Wincapow-Morgan of Oceanside; grandchildren John Howard Morgan of Woodland Hills, Peter James Morgan of San Francisco and Matthew Donovan Morgan of Warsaw, Poland and great-grandchild Taylor Zachary Morgan.
A memorial service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 26, at Salvation Army Chapel in Oceanside with Chaplain Lt. West officiating.

Vincenzo Toscani, 87
CARLSBAD - Vincenzo Toscani, 87, died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, at his home.
Born March 29, 1913, in Italy, he lived in Carlsbad for 17 years. He worked in shipping and receiving for E.A. Beck Co. and served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and the Korean War.
Mr. Toscani is survived by his wife of 45 years, Florence Toscani of Oceanside; and brother Frasmo Toscano of Gaeta, Italy.
No service will be held at the request of the deceased. Burial will take place Monday, Jan. 22, at Riverside National Cemetery.

Harold Bateman, 92
ESCONDIDO - Harold Wilfred Bateman, 92, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, of pneumonia and Alzheimer's dementia, at Palomar Medical Center.
Born Feb. 16, 1908, in Nebraska, he lived in Escondido and Rancho Bernardo for more than 30 years and had lived in Oregon for 30 years. He served in the U.S. Navy as a lieutenant during World War II and worked as a traffic manager for the Department of Agriculture for 35 years before retiring in 1963. He enjoyed playing golf and was a member of Escondido Country Club.
Mr. Bateman was preceded in death by his mother, Florence Campion Bateman; and his father, James Bateman. He was survived by his wife, Sennia "Dickie" Bateman and is survived by a brother in Washington, two nieces in Portland and one in Washington and a nephew in Washington.
A private cremation was held and his cremains were scattered at sea off the coast of San Diego County on Tuesday, Jan. 16.

ESCONDIDO - Sennia Aurora "Dickie" Bateman, 91, died Monday, Jan. 8, 2001, of pneumonia and Alzheimer's dementia, at Palomar Medical Center.
Born April 17, 1909, in Oregon, she lived in Escondido and Rancho Bernardo for more than 30 years and had lived in Oregon for 30 years. She was an office worker during World War II and a homemaker. She enjoyed golf and was a member of Escondido Country Club.
Mrs. Bateman was preceded in death by her father, Frank Hill, on March 10, 1953; and her husband, Harold Bateman, on Jan. 2.
A private cremation was held and her cremains were scattered at sea off the coast of San Diego County on Tuesday, Jan. 16.
Norman Skibel, 86
OCEANSIDE - Norman Davis Skibel, 86, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, at Lifecare Center of Vista.
Born Nov. 2, 1914, in Chicago, Ill., he lived in Oceanside for two years and in Los Angeles for 79 years. He was a salesman for Allied Furniture for 30 years.
Mr. Skibel was preceded in death by his wife, June Skibel, on Feb. 13, 1974. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Lynn Skibel of Corona; daughters Norma Schwartz of England, Carlene Masero of Los Angeles, Barbara and David Wilson of Oceanside; brother and sister-in-law Robert and Dorothy Skibel of Oceanside; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at noon Sunday, Jan. 21, at Hillside Memorial Park & Mortuary in Los Angeles.
Richard Nash, 29
SHELTON, Wash. - Richard Lee Nash, 29, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2001, in Shelton.
Born June 12, 1971, in Henderson, Nev., he lived in Ramona for many years.
Mr. Nash is survived by his mother, Diana Roger of Lakeside; father Dick Nash of Escondido; grandmothers Marion Combs of Lakeside and Julia Nash of Hesperia; sisters Wendy Meador of Ramona, Kim Beall of Nevada and Chris Nash of Colorado; four nephews and a niece.
A private ceremony for family is planned.
Emily Cox, 78
ENCINITAS - Emily F. Cox, 78, died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, at Scripps Ocean View Convalescent Hospital in Encinitas.
Born May 30, 1922, in Port Costa, she lived in Encinitas for four years and had lived in the Tracy-Stockton area. She was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Tracy, the church Mother's Guild and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a volunteer for the March of Dimes.
Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Claude Cox. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Gary and Diane Cox of Carlsbad; brother William Furtado of Napa; and grandsons Bryan and Brent.
Visitation will be held from noon to 12:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 22, at Hotchkiss Mortuary in Tracy. A graveside service will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Tracy Public Cemetery.

Oceanside --- Myrtle Victoria Chisholm, 85, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001.
Born May 21, 1915, in Syracuse, N.Y., she lived in Oceanside for four years.
Mrs. Chisholm retired from Sally's Dress Shop in 1978.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Douglas Chisholm in 1984. She is survived by son Douglas Chisholm of Boca Raton, Fla.; daughters and sons-in-law Marcia and Jerold Bechard of Oceanside and Carole and Topper Stevens of Orwell, N.Y.; brothers Lawrence Beil and Robert Beil both of Syracuse, N.Y.; ten grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Temecula - Susan T. Litsch, 38, died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2001, from injuries from a car accident.
Born Oct. 10, 1962, in Inglewood, she lived in Temecula for two years. She was a teacher for the San Jacinto School District and enjoyed traveling and children.
Ms. Litsch is survived by her mother and father, Justine and John Litsch of Fountain Valley; and brother Richard Litsch of Santa Rosa.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. today, Jan. 20, at Stout Family Funeral Home in Temecula. A private inurnment is planned.

SUN CITY - Margaret Oliano, 87, died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001, of respiratory failure, at Menifee Valley Medical Center in Sun City.
Born Dec. 24, 1913, in New Haven, Conn., she lived in Sun City for 23 years. She was a homemaker for 68 years, a member of St. Vincent's Catholic Church in Sun City and of the Italian Club of Sun City. She enjoyed cooking and sewing for her family and spending time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Oliano is survived by her daughter, Joan Stevens of Sun City; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Monday, Jan. 22, at Miller-Jones Mortuary. A funeral service will follow at 12:30 p.m. Burial will take place at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

SAN DIEGO - Grace P. Lofaro, 67, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, in Escondido.
Born March 13, 1933, in Glens Falls, N.Y., she lived in San Diego for 25 years. She was an activities aide for Country Hills Nursing Home.
Mrs. Lofaro was preceded in death by her son, Scott Lofaro, in 1987. She is survived by her sons, Frank Lofaro of Shaftsbury, Vt., William Lofaro of San Diego and Kevin Lofaro of Escondido; daughters Debra Loy of Ramona, Kathleen Cooper and Tamela Lofaro, both of Auxvasse, Mo., and Jill Lofaro of Escondido; sister Janice Galia of Albany, N.Y.; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Thursday, Jan. 11, at McLeod Mortuary Chapel. A private cremation was held.

Wallis Schallock, 90
OCEANSIDE - Wallis Carroll Schallock, 90, died Friday, Jan. 12, 2001, in Vista.
Born Oct. 15, 1910, in Big Timber, Mont., he lived in Oceanside for eight years and had lived in San Diego County for 22 years. He was an electrical inspector for the city and county of Santa Barbara before retiring and was past master of Doric Masonic Lodge No. 53 in Big Timber.
Mr. Schallock was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Schallock, in 1997. He is survived by his son, Larry Schallock of Oceanside; daughter Eleanor Kay Prestidge of El Cajon; sister Irene Kuhlman of Oceanside; granddaughter and her husband Lisa and Henry Rios of Campo; and great-grandchildren Henry Jr. and Danny Rios.
A private memorial service was held. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Mountain View Cemetery in Big Timber.

Barbara Donnelly, 67
San Diego --- Barbara G. Donnelly, 67, died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2001, in San Diego Hospice after a long illness.
Born Dec. 30, 1933, in San Diego, she was a resident of San Diego for 41 years.
She was retired from Southwest Marine. Ms. Donnelly was a graduate from La Jolla High School where she was a member of the tennis team and drama clubs. She loved all sports especially the Women's National Basketball Association.
Ms. Donnelly was preceded in death by her mother, Pauline A. Moore in 1996. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law Michael P. and Loreen Donnelly of El Cajon; daughters Kathleen A. Kinder of Vista, Christi Donnelly of San Marcos and Kelley A. Donnelly of San Diego; grandchildren Rebekka Kinder, Tiffani Kinder, Mandi Kinder, Caitlin Donnelly, Cara Donnelly, Christopher Stipa and Kiernan Donnelly.
A rosary was recited Thursday, Jan. 11, at 2 p.m. at San Diego Hospice with the Rev. Will Gavin officiating. A Memorial service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday Jan. 25, at St. Philip The Apostle - Episcopal Church with the Rev. Maryanne Lacey officiating. There will be a private cremation and inurnment.

VISTA - Andres Sanchez Jr., 18, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, at his parents' home in Vista.
Born June 27, 1982, he was a lifelong Vista resident.
Mr. Sanchez is survived by his parents, Andres Sanchez Sr. and Maria Sanchez of Vista; brother Alejandro Sanchez of Vista; sisters Naomi Sanchez and Leticia Sanchez, both of Vista; grandmothers Esther Ramirez of Vista and Rosa Zavala of Mexico; and adopted grandparents Ramon and Maria Lara of Vista.

OCEANSIDE - Joseph Elias Monaco, 74, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, at Tri City Medial Center.
Born July 15, 1926, in Ambler, Pa., he lived in Oceanside for 11 years. He was the owner of Gem Aero Aviation Supplies for 25 years and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Mr. Monaco was preceded in death by his son, Michael Monaco in 1999. He is survived by his wife, Constance Monaco of Oceanside; sons Steven Monaco of Seattle, Mark A. Monaco of Ventura and Joseph Monaco of Carlsbad; daughters Kathleen Domzalski of Huntington Beach and Elizabeth Gross of San Juan Capistrano; sisters Nancy Melograno, Molly Scalfaro and Elizabeth Myers, all of Ambler, Pa., and 10 grandchildren.

OCEANSIDE - Patricia Ann Dixon, 69, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001.
Born July 7, 1931, in Milwaukee, she lived in North County for 21 years, and currently lived in Oceanside.
She was a homemaker for 44 years and an avid traveler.
Mrs. Dixon is survived by Joanne Kelhart, sons Patrick Dixon of San Diego, Daniel Dixon of Vista and Donald Dixon of Vista; daughters and sons-in-law Nancy and Santiago Rodriguez of Vista, Teresa and Douglas Smith of Chandler, Ariz., and Kathleen Dixon of Escondido; brothers William Shea of Fallbrook, Joseph Shea of Dallas and Thomas Shea of Fallbrook; sister Kathleen Sullivan of Oceanside; grandchildren Christopher and Melissa Rodriguez, Timothy and Tyler Smith and Breanna Schnoebelen and numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

LAS VEGAS - Mark Brinkman, 48, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, at his home of heart failure.
Born June 18, 1952, in Escondido, he lived in Las Vegas for seven years. He attended St. Mary's and Del Dios schools, graduating from Orange Glen High School. He was employed in construction work, principally in dry wall. He held a contractor's license until 1995 and enjoyed racing cars.
Mr. Brinkman was preceded in death by his father, William Brinkman in July 2000. He is survived by mother Joan Floyd of Escondido; brother and sister-in-law Paul and Candise Brinkman of Valley Center and sisters and brothers-in-law Jean and Jim Wold of Valley Center, Teresa and Mel Windsor of LaQuinta, Mary and Michael Promisco of Bozeman, Mont.
A memorial is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, at McLeod Mortuary in Escondido with the Rev. John Verstegen officiating.
