Clifford Kirkendall, 82
TEMECULA - Clifford LeRoy Kirkendall, 82, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, of cancer, at his home.
Born Jan. 21, 1918, in Pocatello, Idaho, he lived in Temecula for 11 years.
He worked for Northrop before retiring and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Temecula Creek Ward.
He served as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force from 1943 to 1945.
Mr. Kirkendall is survived by his wife of 58 years, Stella Kirkendall of Temecula; daughters Sharon Goodrich of Los Gatos, Linda Piguillem of Carlsbad, Janet Minter of Moreno Valley and Lori Chapman of Joplin, Mo.; brother Harold Kirkendall of San Diego; and 12 grandchildren.
Visitation was held Monday, Jan. 8, at Stout Family Funeral Home. Viewing will take place from 10 to 11 a.m. today, Jan. 9, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Temecula Creek Ward. A funeral service will follow, with interment taking place at 12:15 p.m. at Temecula Cemetery.

Ronald Dannenberg, 59
SAN MARCOS - Ronald Thomas Dannenberg, 59, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, at Palomar Medical Center.
Born July 25, 1941, in Rocky Ford, Colo., he lived in San Marcos for 30 years. He was the owner of J&R Drywall Scraping & Cleanup in San Marcos before retiring in 1990. He enjoyed sport fishing in the Sea of Cortez.
Mr. Dannenberg is survived by his companion of 19 years, Joanne Murphy of San Marcos; and son Ray Dannenberg of Escondido.
A private family service will be held at a later date. A private cremation is planned.

Augustine Sanchez, 65
VISTA - Augustine A. Sanchez, 65, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, in Vista.
Born May 5, 1935, in El Paso, Texas, he lived in Vista. He worked for Johnson's Movers.
Mr. Sanchez was preceded in death by his son, Augustine Sanchez Jr., in 1997. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Hortencia Sanchez of Vista; sons Stephen Sanchez and Anthony Sanchez, both of Vista; daughter and son-in-law Yolanda and Manuel Aldaco of Oceanside; brother and sister-in-law Fred and Mary Sanchez of Arizona; sisters and brothers-in-law Lucy and Rosario Fragoso of Arizona and Connie and Bob Velasquez of Oceanside; grandchildren Richard Aldaco, Daniel Aldaco and Corina Aldaco; great-grandchildren Samuel Aldaco; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service is pending.

Sinclair Mainland, 81
ESCONDIDO - Sinclair Robert Mainland, 81, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at his home.
Born Dec. 4, 1919, in Iowa, he lived in Escondido for 49 years. He was a mechanic for Solar enterprises before retiring.
Mr. Mainland was preceded in death by his sons, Baby Mainland, in 1958, and William Griffith, in 1956.
He is survived by his wife of 50 1/2 years, Gearldean Mainland of Escondido; son Robert Duane Mainland of Yuma, Ariz.; daughter Janet Carol VanderWoude of Escondido; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A private cremation is planned, with cremains to be scattered at sea.
The family suggests memorial donations to Hospice of North County, 2095 W. Vista Way, Suite 101, Vista, CA 92083.

Sandra Barron, 47
PAUMA VALLEY - Sandra M. Barron, 47, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, in Escondido.
Born Jan. 28, 1953, in Caracas, Venezuela, she lived in Pauma Valley and had lived in Maui for many years and in Valley Center. She was a homemaker and had graduated from Orange Glen High School in 1971. She loved the beach and jewelry making.
Mrs. Barron was preceded in death by her father, Noble Barron.
She is survived by her mother, Alice Jones of Escondido; son Kyle Barron of Chicago; and sisters and brother-in-law Marsha Jones-Duran of Escondido and Cynthia and Bill Dorr of Kona, Hawaii.
Viewing was held and a rosary recited Monday, Jan. 8, at Alhiser-Comer Mortuary.
A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today, Jan. 9, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Escondido, with the Rev. Bong officiating.
Interment will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Katherine Soresi, 87
OCEANSIDE - Katherine Adamo Soresi, 87, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at her home.
Born Dec. 4, 1913, in Chicago, she lived in Oceanside for 16 years. She was an assistant architect for the city of New York before retiring.
Mrs. Soresi was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Soresi, in 1992. She is survived by her cousins, Tina Crawford of Oceanside and Frances Stuart of Cape Creek, Ariz.
Visitation and viewing were held and a rosary recited Monday, Jan. 8, at Eternal Hills Mortuary. A Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. today, Jan. 9, at St. Margaret's Catholic Church, with the Rev. William Gold officiating. Burial will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park, with the Rev. Gold officiating.
The family suggests memorial donations to Kettering Cancer Center, 1275 York Ave., New York, NY 10021-6094.

Edith McConkey, 91
ESCONDIDO - Edith Ida McConkey, 91, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, in Escondido.
Born Nov. 25, 1909, in Carrington, N.D., she lived in San Diego County for 31 years. She was a homemaker for 53 years.
Mrs. McConkey was preceded in death by her husband, Cletus McConkey, on Nov. 23, 1981; and her son, Robert McConkey, in 1989. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Gerald Erck of Escondido; sisters Freda Cauden of Marrietta, Ga., and Betty Larson of Richland, Wash.; four grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from noon to 5 p.m. today, Jan. 9, at Allen Bros. Mortuary, San Marcos Chapel. A rosary will be recited at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, at Church of St. Timothy, with the Rev. James Rafferty officiating. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., following the recitation of the rosary. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
The family suggests memorial donations to St. Timothy's Church Building Fund, 2960 Canyon Road, Escondido, CA 92025-7402.

Lavinia Williamson, 87
ESCONDIDO - Lavinia Williamson, 87, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2000, in Escondido.
Born April 10, 1913, in Richmond, Va., she lived in Escondido for 56 years. She was a graduate of Fannie Farmer Cooking School and attended Mary Washington College.
Mrs. Williamson was preceded in death by her husband, Donald R. Williamson, in May 1993. She is survived by her brothers and sister-in-law George and Lorraine Morrison of Burbank, Marcella Williamson of Escondido and Elsie Morrison of Fredericksburg, Va.; 12 nieces and nephews, including Doreen Kemble of Escondido, Nancy Abruzzo of Santa Clarita, Pamela Vasquez of Glendale and Sharon Keller of El Cajon.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 13, at the First Congregational Church in Escondido. Interment will take place at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
North County Cremation Service is handling arrangements.

Joseph De Liso, 74
CARLSBAD - Joseph De Liso, 74, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2001.
Born March 30, 1926, in Detroit, he lived in Carlsbad. He was a teacher.
Mr. De Liso is survived by his wife, Theresa De Liso; sons and daughters-in-law Gary De Liso, Alan and Julie De Liso, Gregory De Liso, Michael and Sharon De Liso and Brian De Liso; and grandchildren Melissa, Ryan, Mary, Gregory and John De Liso and Joseph Migliorini.
Inurnment will take place at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in Point Loma.
The family suggests memorial donations to San Diego Parkinson's Association, 4901 Morena Blvd., Suite 104, San Diego, CA 92117-3364.

Paul Carpenter, 80
VISTA - Paul V. Carpenter, 80, died Monday, Jan. 8, 2001, at his home.
Born Nov. 5, 1920, in Janesville, Wis., he lived in Vista for 40 years. He was a clothier for 42 years and owned Dads & Lads Clothing in Vista. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.
Mr. Carpenter is survived by his wife, Genevieve M. Carpenter of Vista; sons Mark Carpenter of Oceanside, William Carpenter of Rancho Penasquitos and Richard Carpenter of Turlock; daughters Mary Beth Nelson of Bend, Ore., and Barbara Streagle of Valley Center; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Vista, with the Rev. Ramon Maruffo officiating. A private cremation is planned, with inurnment to take place at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in Point Loma.

Iola Morack, 81
VALLEY CENTER - Iola Lois Morack, 81, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2000 at Palomar Medical Center.
Born Dec. 28, 1918, in Rudd, Iowa, she lived in Valley Center for 46 years.
She was a bookkeeper for the San Diego Union School District for 20 years.
Mrs. Morack is survived by her sisters, Selma G. Holtz of Valley Center and Edna M. Holtz of Nora Springs, Iowa.
A private family service was held. Interment took place at Valley Center Cemetery.

Merle Williams, 75
RED BLUFF - Merle Rabourne Williams, 75, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, at his home.
Born Aug. 18, 1925, in Hamilton, Iowa, he lived in Red Bluff for nine years and had lived in Vista for 25 years. He was a self-employed building contractor and a member of Ducks Unlimited building. He served in the South Pacific in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He enjoyed woodworking and building.
Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his daughter, Peggy Abdula, in 1995. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Noma Williams of Red Bluff; sons Charles Williams and Michael Williams, both of Vista; brother Clarence Martin of Mesa, Ariz.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today, Jan. 10, at Chapel of the Flowers in Red Bluff. A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 12, at Rose Hills in Whittier. Burial will follow.

Gerald Fleming, 72
TWENTYNINE PALMS - Gerald Robert Fleming, 72, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2001.
Born July 7, 1928, he lived in Twentynine Palms. He was a motor transport chief for the U.S. Marine Corps for 21 years. He enjoyed fishing, camping and traveling.
Mr. Fleming is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marie Fleming of Twentynine Palms; daughters and sons-in-law Shirley and Ken Ichrist of Temecula and Pam and Robert Dickson of Oceanside; sons Roland and Beth Botler of Escondido and Robert and Janet Fleming of Kirkwood, Mo.; brother Richard Fleming of Omaha, Neb.; sister Dorthy Fleming of Omaha; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Interment will take place at a later date at Riverside National Cemetery.

Earl Sanger, 90
ESCONDIDO - Earl R. Sanger, 90, died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2001, in Escondido.
Born March 6, 1910, in North Dakota, he lived in Escondido for 21 years.
He was a self-employed farmer and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Sanger is survived by his wife, Jeanne "Marie" Sanger of Escondido; brother Robert Sanger of Morehead, Minn.; and sisters Marjorie Davis of Fargo, N.D., and Edna Anise and Lydia Martin, both of Morehead.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, at McLeod Mortuary Chapel, with the Rev. Faith Conklin of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Patricia Hendon, 79
OCEANSIDE - Patricia Juanita Hendon, 79, died Monday, Jan. 8, 2001, at San Diego Hospice.
Born July 24, 1921, in Texas, she lived in Oceanside for 50 years. She was a homemaker for 53 years.
Mrs. Hendon is survived by several nieces and nephews, including David Flanagan of Oceanside.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, at Eternal Hills Memorial Park, with the Rev. David Plank officiating. Burial will follow.
Frank Weidler, 85

OCEANSIDE - Frank K. Weidler Jr., 85, died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, at Tri-City Medical Center.
Born June 10, 1915, in Los Angeles, he lived in Oceanside for 21 years. He was a quality assurance engineer for the U.S. Air Force and NASA and served in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1946. He was a member of NARFE and American Legion.
Mr. Weidler is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ruth Weidler of Oceanside; son and daughter-in-law Bob and Pam Weidler of Anaheim; grandchildren Wendy Goodnight of Phoenix, Julie Weidler of Rancho Santa Margarita and Beth Ann Weidler and Matthew Weidler, both of Anaheim; and great-grandchildren Joshua and Megan Goodnight.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 14, at Laguna Vista Mobile Estate Clubhouse in Oceanside, with the Rev. Richard Miller officiating.
The family suggests memorial donations to Elizabeth Hospice, 150 W. Crest St., Escondido, CA 92025.
