Rose Mary Clodig, 84
SAN MARCOS - Rose Mary Clodig, 84, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, at a local retirement home.

Born Jan. 10, 1916, in Chicago, she recently moved to San Marcos from Merriville, Ind., where she lived for 25 years. She was a steelworker for U.S. Steel for 40 years.

Mrs. Clodig was preceded in death by her husband, John Theodore Clodig, in 1989. She is survived by her son, John Clodig of Fallbrook; daughter Rosemary Stanzione of San Marcos; brothers Frank Stanzione, Rocco Stanzione and Victor Stanzione, all of Merriville, Ind.; and five grandchildren.

No local service is scheduled. A service will be handled by Stilinovich & Wiatrolik Funeral Home in Merriville.

Allen Brothers Mortuary, Vista Chapel, is handling arrangements.

Otilia Galvez, 99

RAMONA - Otilia Frances Galvez, 99, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000, at a local convalescent hospital.

Born Dec. 3, 1900, in Yuma, Ariz., she lived in California since she was 8 years old and in Ramona since 1991. She was an assistant cashier at Walker-Scott department store in Los Angeles for 25 years and was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church of Ramona and the Ramona Senior Center.

Mrs. Galvez was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel Galvez, and a grandson, Mark Uselman. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Louise Uselman of Apple Valley; one sister of Salem, Ore.; grandchildren Kathy Outland of Salem, Dolores Emerson of Ramona, Eric James of Las Vegas, Victoria Kearns of Greenleaf, Idaho and Karl Uselman of Simi Valley; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

A rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. and a Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 1, at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Escondido. A committal service and burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City where she will be buried next to her late husband.

The family suggests memorial donations to Horizon Hospice, 13053 Poway Road, Poway, CA 92064; or to the American Cancer Society, 12405 Rancho Bernardo Road, Suite 100, San Diego, CA 92128.

Jorge Gutierrez, 43

CARLSBAD - Jorge Arturo Gutierrez, 43, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, of cancer, at Kaiser Permanente in San Diego.

Born Feb. 19, 1957, in Burbank, he lived in Carlsbad for 43 years. He was a self-employed landscaper.

Mr. Gutierrez is survived by his wife of 18 years, Mary Gutierrez of Carlsbad; mother and father Petra and Moises Gutierrez of Carlsbad; sons Brian Gutierrez and Steven Gutierrez, both of Carlsbad; brothers Edward Gutierrez of Valley Center and Moises Gutierrez of Detroit; and sister Mary Gutierrez of Oceanside.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 28, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, with Deacon Michael Frazee officiating.

The family suggests memorial donations to El Dorado Bank, 675 Carlsbad Village Drive, Carlsbad, CA 92008.

Homer Schwiebert, 93

SAN DIEGO - Homer Wladen Schwiebert, 93, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2000, in Fallbrook.

Born Nov. 29, 1906, in Victor, Iowa, he lived in San Diego for 2 1/2 years. He was a salesman for Swift & Co. meat packers for 40 years. He was past president of Monmouth Country Club in Monmouth, Ill., ruling elder of the United Church of Christ in Sun City, Ariz., and a member of the Illinois Draft Board for 20 years.

Mr. Schwiebert is survived by his wife, Lillian V. Schwiebert of Fallbrook; sons David T. Schwiebert of San Diego and Phillip D. Schwiebert of San Jose; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A private cremation is planned. Inurnment will take place at Victor Immanual Methodist Cemetery in Victor, Iowa.

The family suggests memorial donations to the Presbyterian Mission Fund, c/o Fallbrook Presbyterian Church, 463 S. Stage Coach Lane, Fallbrook, CA 92028; or to a charity of choice.

Clara Carunchio, 84

ESCONDIDO - Clara Marie Carunchio, 84, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000, at her home.

Born May 7, 1915, in Pittsburgh, she lived in Escondido for 25 years. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Carunchio was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Carunchio, on Aug. 4, 1991. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Kenny Carunchio of Escondido, Henry R. and Maggie Carunchio of Rancho Murrieta; daughter Vickie M. Carunchio of Escondido; brother Albert Russo of Pittsburgh; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, at Church of St. Timothy in Escondido. A private inurnment is planned.

Rosemary Raines, 72

EL CAJON - Rosemary Raines, 72, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2000, in Santee.

Born Oct. 21, 1927, in Brawley, she lived in El Cajon for two years. She was an insurance clerk in Los Angeles for 30 years. She graduated from Brawley High School in 1945 and attended Woodberry Business School in Los Angeles.

Mrs. Raines is survived by her nephews, Larry Swink of Green Valley, John Swink of Lakeside and Bill Swink of San Diego; and nieces Billy Jean Knox Granger of San Jacinto and Kathy Lou Brown Baxter and Sharon Brown, both of San Diego.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 28, at Alhiser-Comer Mortuary. A funeral service will follow at 10 a.m., with burial at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

The family suggests memorial donations to Alzheimer's Research, UCSD-ADRC, 9500 Gilman Drive, Suite 0948, La Jolla, CA 92093.

Glenda Helm, 68

OCEANSIDE - Glenda Helm, 68, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000, at Tri-City Medical Center.

Born June 13, 1931, in Arizona, she lived in Oceanside for 25 years. She worked for McDonnell Douglas.

Mrs. Helm was preceded in death by her husband, David Helm, in 1972. She is survived by her daughters, Vesta A. Cowing of Escondido and Myra D. Grosshard of Washington; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 28, at Eternal Hills Memorial Park, with the Rev. David Plank officiating. Burial will follow.

The family suggests memorial donations to the American Cancer Society, 12405 Rancho Bernardo Road, Suite 100, San Diego, CA 92128.

David Stookey, 83

CARLSBAD - David M. Stookey, 83, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000, at Sunbridge Care Facility in El Cajon.

Born May 9, 1916, in Forty Fort, Penn., he lived in Carlsbad for 15 years. He worked for Pacific Telephone and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as chief petty officer with the Sea Bees and was awarded a Purple Heart.

Mr. Stookey is survived by his wife of 45 years, Alma Milbrodt Stookey of Oceanside; son Mark Stookey of Carlsbad; daughter Carol Sandra Holmes of Fullerton and Virginia "Ginny" Wekall of Huntington Beach; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. today, Feb. 27, at San Luis Rey Mission Chapel. Inurnment will follow.

Lillian Marie Houston, 91

MURRIETA - Lillian Marie Houston, 91, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2000, in Murrieta.

Born Feb. 20, 1909, in Elwood, Neb., she lived in Murrieta for one year and previously lived in Fallbrook for 30 years. She was an assistant engineer at North American Rockwell for 15 years.

Mrs. Houston was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas R. Houston in July 1979. She is survived by her sons, Dave Houston of Bend, Ore., and Donald Houston of Dana Point; daughters Patsey Sherohman of Bullhead City, Ariz., Phyllis Nogalas of Salton Sea, Donna Marie Houston of Murrieta and Judy Brush of Borrego Springs; 25 grandchildren; and 45 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, at Berry-Bell & Hall Chapel, with the Rev. Jim Manning of Calvary Chapel in Temecula officiating. A private cremation is planned.

Margaret Adams, 87

SUN CITY - Margaret Theresa Adams, 87, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2000, of congestive heart failure, at her home.

Born April 30, 1912, in Dayton, Ohio, she lived in Sun City for 13 years. She was a quality control inspector of fuel cells for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in Los Angeles, retiring in 1976 after 30 years. She was a member of St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church and the International Hungarian Club.

Mrs. Adams is survived by her husband, Ray S. Adams of Sun City; son Martin Kish of Canyon Lake; daughters Doris Stern of Sun City and Mary Baldenow of Orange; sisters Julia Chewbel, Ann Ostrove, Rose Dudon and Agnes Gonzalez, all of Dayton, and Maryann Badurina of Grove City, Ohio; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces.

A vigil will be held at 9:45 a.m. today, Feb. 26, at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church. A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. following the vigil. Burial will take place in Dayton.

Guyneth Johnson, 82

SUN CITY - Guyneth Arlene Gord Johnson, 82, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2000, of acute cardiorespiratory arrest at her home.

Born March 14, 1917, in Pierceton, Ind., she lived in Sun City for eight years. She was a sales associate for Maronal Field & Co. in Milwaukee and L.S. Ayres Co. in Indianapolis. She graduated from Lowell High School in Lowell, Ind., and was a homemaker.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband, Robert E. Johnson of Sun City; son Phillip Drew Johnson of Maui, Hawaii; daughters Poppy Lee Sorce of Sun City and Sandra Elaine Beckwith of Morgan Hill; sister Gene King of Englewood, Tenn.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Friday, Feb. 25, at the home of her daughter, Poppy Sorce. A private cremation is planned.

The family suggests memorial donations to Ramona VNA & Hospice, 890 W. Stetson, Suite B, Hemet, CA 92543.

Donna Lee Walker, 68
ESCONDIDO - Donna Lee Walker, 68, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2000, at her home in Escondido.

Born June 22, 1931, in Spokane, Wash., she lived in Escondido for 27 years. She worked for North County Superior Court before retiring in 1995 and was a member of First Church of Christ Science in Escondido.

Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Walker, in 1998. She is survived by her stepmother, Ruth Regis of Spokane, Wash.; son John Walker of Escondido; daughter and son-in-law Lori Harney of Santee and Vickie and Dan Seavey of Escondido; brothers and sister-in-law John Regis and Denny and Kathy Regis, all of Spokane; and grandsons Tyler and Jordan Seavey.

No service will be held at the request of the deceased. A private cremation is planned.

Stanley Rymsza, 76

CARLSBAD - Stanely I. Rymsza Jr., 76, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2000, at his home.

Born Oct. 23, 1923, in West Hazleton, Penn. He was an auditor for the federal government. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and as a U.S. Air Force Reservist. He graduated cum laude from the University of Scranton, Penn.

Mr. Rymsza was preceded in death by his first wife, Ann L. Rymsza, and his second wife, Marian Rymsza. He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Margaret Rymsza of Carlsbad; son Thomas Rymsza of Albuquerque, N.M.; daughters Eileen Miller of Chambersburg, Penn., Mary Rosencrans of Portland, Ore., Kathy Schroeder of Carlsbad and Elizabeth Rymsza of Sacramento; brothers H. Irvin Rimshaw of Allentown, Penn., and Theodore A. Rimshaw of Dublin; sister Lillian Y. Hough of Indiana, Penn.; and seven grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 10, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Carlsbad. A private cremation is planned.

Angela Paster, 88

VALLEY CENTER - Angela Maria Paster, 88, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000, at Monte Vista Nursing Home in Poway.

Born Dec. 18, 1911, in Italy, she lived in Valley Center for 21 years. She was a salesclerk for department stores.

Mrs. Paster was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Leonard Paster, in January 1999. She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Lorraine Opp of Palm Desert and Ranetta Burdick of Lake Tahoe, Nev.; two nephews; and nine nieces.

A cryptside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 28, at Bible Mausoleum at Greenwood Memorial Park in San Diego, with the Rev. Louis Fischer officiating. Entombment will follow.

Willie Sims, 77

VISTA - Willie Lee Sims, 77, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, at Pleasant Care of San Diego.

Born Aug. 11, 1922, in Mississippi, he lived in Vista for 40 years. He was a bartender at Ed's Cocktail Lounge and served as a master sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.

Mr. Sims is survived by his son, Phil Sims of San Juan Capistrano; brother Ed Sims of Encinitas; grandchildren Joshua and Stacey Sims of San Juan Capistrano; and five nieces.

A cryptside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 28, at Eternal Hills Memorial Park. Entombment will follow.

Lotus Garrahan, 86
VISTA - Lotus Marie Garrahan, 86, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, at Scripps Torrey Pines Convalescent Hospital.

Born Jan. 3, 1914, in Kansas, she lived in Vista for 27 years. She was a homemaker for 30 years.

Mrs. Garrahan is survived by her husband of 61 years, Donald Garrahan of Vista; daughter Lotus Colleen Pace of Irvine; and brothers William O. Briggs Jr. of Ventura and Harry N. Briggs of California.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 1, at Eternal Hills Chapel. Burial will follow at noon at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

VISTA - Wilda Eileen Zenner, 73, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, in Vista.

Born July 4, 1926, in Escondido, she lived in Vista for 40 years. She was a homemaker for 55 years.

Mrs. Zenner is survived by her husband of 55 years, Alvin M. Zenner of Vista; son and daughter-in-law Danny Zenner and MaryAnne Zenner of Vista; daughter Judith Anne Zenner of Escondido; and grandchildren Michelle Zenner, Elizabeth Zenner and Magen Zenner, all of Escondido, and Daniel Zenner, Stephen Zenner, Kristen Zenner and Melissa Zenner, all of Vista.

A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 2, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Vista. Burial will follow at Valley Center Cemetery.
