2019-01 FRIEND I've found in the 1900 and 1910, one Thomas A. Friend who lived in "South Fork" or "Hayfork" respectively to the census years. Could this be any relation to the local "Friend Mountain" north of Hayfork, California? Matthew D. Friend 04/20/2019

2016-02 WILBURN We are looking for any relatives in the Willburn/Wilburn family - descendents of James St.Clair Wilburn who migrated there in 1849 at the age of 19 from Texas. He was the oldest of 11 children and his parents migrated there in 1880. His father, Edward "Ned" Willburn, died in a cabin fire in 1885. The story of James St.Clair fighting a bear and losing an arm in the battle while killing the bear has been handed down for generations. We are looking for the burial plot. James & Mary 08/23/2016
2016-01 DIDEON
MILLER
My gggg uncle, Jacob "Jake" B. Gideon, was born September 13, 1828 at Millerstown, Champaign County, Ohio, son of George Gideon and Elizabeth Miller Gideon. He traveled to California and became a '49er. He was part of a group of gold miners on the East Fork of the North Fork of the Trinity River near Weaverville, Trinity County, California entering into a mining agreement in 1852. The Gideon family in Clinton, Illinois had not heard from Jacob B. Gideon for over 40 years and Jacob Gideon was declared legally dead in June 1909.

I am keenly interested in learning what became of my uncle Jacob Gideon, whether he remained on in Weaverville, perhaps died and was buried there, or perhaps moved on? Any help that you or visitors to the Trinity County GenWeb website could provide to help learn more about Jacob Gideon or what became of him would be greatly appreciated. Again, many thanks.
