 Another Pioneer Gone.   Caswell Lewis Murray died at his home near Yreka, December 15th, several week's sickness, aged 75 years and 1 day.  Deceased was a native of Cole county Missouri, and was in every sense of the word, a pioneer.  He left his native State in 1853 and drove an ox team across the plains arriving in Oregon in June of that year.  He engaged in business there, but the country did not appeal to him, as did the gold fields of California, and early in 1854 he again took up the trail, with his ox team and came to Siskiyou County, where he settled and has resided ever since.  Shortly after coming to this county he married and has reared a large family, four daughters and three sons who are all grown up.  During his long residence in Siskiyou County, almost sixty years, he lead an active life, a portion of which time was engaged in mining, the rest of the time was devoted to farming and stock raising.  By the passing of Caswell L. Murray, the County has lost a good citizen who was ever ready to assist the needy to the full extent of his means.  He was a loving husband and a kind father.  He leaves surviving him, a widow, four daughters and three sons.  The daughters are Mrs. J.J. O'Leary, of Healsburg, Mrs. Burton of Scott Valley,  Mrs. Bert Taylor and Mrs. Sadie Stearns of Fort Jones.  The sons are Frank, Joseph and William.  The funeral was held Sunday afternoon from the Methodist church and was largely attended.  Interment was made in Evergreen cemetery.
