MASONIC RITES SET THURDAY FOR A. C. LAWSON
San diego Commandery 25, Knights Templar, will conduct services at 1 pm
Thursday at Lewis Colonial Mortuary for Alexander C. Lawson, 62, of 3125
Polk Ave.
He died yesterday of a heart ailment in an El Cajon furniture store where
he was a salesman.
A native California, Mr. Lawson had lived in San Diego since 1932. He was
a member of the Uptown Business Association, Sunset Lodge 352, F&AM; el
Capitan Chapter 149, Royal Arch Masons; San Diego Commandery 25, Knights
Templar, and al Bahr Shrine Temple.
Surviving are his wife, Alice; daughter, Mrs. W. Zummerman, and two
sisters, Mrs. Robert Franckins and Beth Lawson, all of San Diego. Burial
has not been arranged.

EDWARD JAMES MCBRIDE SERVICES SCHEDULES
Military graveside services for Edward James McBride, 57, of 4087 43rd
St., will be at 2 pm tomorrow in Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery.
The former Navy officer died June 23 in Las Cruces, NM. Benbough Downtown
Mortuary is in charge.
Survivors include his wife, Della; two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Bovee and
Mary McBride, and two sons, William and Edward Jr., all of San Diego.

KENNETH PARSONS
Chula Vista (Special) - Services for Kenneth Parsons, 46, of 720 Fourth
Ave., will be Friday at 10 am in Greenwood Mortuary. Burial will be in Ft.
Rosecrans National Cemetery.
A ship builder here eight years, he died Monday.
Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Mae Parson, Chula Vista.

IRA ALFRED CLEVELAND
Services are pending at Benbough Mortuary for Ira Alfred Cleveland, 65, of
2839 Kalmia Pl., who died yesterday in a hospital.
A resident since 1938, he owned a business equipment company.
He leaves his wife, Mayme.

MRS. NETTIE BLANKENSHIP
Services will be in Watsonville for Mrs. Nettie Blankenship, 52, who died
in a local hospital yesterday. She had been visiting her daughter, Mrs.
Eiler Browning, of Linda Vista.
Survivors are her husband, James; a son, Walter; two daughters, Mrs. Wanda
De Zell and Muriel; and her parents, all of Watsonville, and another son in
England.

JAMES B. MILLS
Services will be in Bonham Brothers Mortuary at 1:30 pm tomorrow for James
B. Mills, 84, of 1657 4th Ave., former investment broker and resident here
34 years.
Cremation will follow.
During World War II he was associated with his son, Richard, investment
broker. He served in World War I as staff captain in the adjutant generals
office, Minnesota National Guard.
Surviving Mr. Mills are his widow, Lena; three sons, including Richard,
San Diego and a daughter Mrs. Helen Jensen, San Diego.

MRS MARGARET WEBER
Coronado (Special) - Services for Mrs. Margaret Weber, 72, of 810 A Ave.,
a resident here 41 years, will be at 10 am Wednesday in Coronado Mortuary.
Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, San diego. Mrs Weber died Saturday.
Surviving is a son, Herbert, Coronado.

MRS. LILLIAN B. LOWELL
Services for Mrs. Lillian B. Lowell, 72, of 4711 Cape May Ave., a resident
here 13 years, will be at 12:30 pm tomorrow in Benbough Mortuary.
Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Surviving Mrs. Lowell, who died Friday, are her husband, James; a
daughter, Mrs. Glenn Smith, San Diego, and two sons, John, San Diego and
James, Los Angeles.

ELMER SECHRIST
Rites will be at 11 am tomorrow in Johnson-Saum & Knobel Mortuary for
Elmer Sechrist, 79, of 6658 Bell Court, former Convair employee and
resident here 12 years.
Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Surviving Mr. Sechrist, who died Friday, are his widow, Lydia, and two
sons and two daughters in Indiana.

MRS CHRISTINE C. BRIGGS
Services for Mrs. Christine C. Briggs, 77, of 608 W. Walnut St., were held
today at St. James by the Sea Church, followed by entombment in Cypress
View Mausoleum.
Mrs. Briggs, a native of Texas, was a resident of the county 46 years. she
died Monday. She was a self-employed property manager.
She was a member of the board of directors of the Pacific Coast Browning
Foundation and the Musical Merit Foundation of San Diego. she was cofounder
and past president of the San Diego Browning Society.
Surviving are a son and a daughter, Mr. Christine Overton of San Diego.
Humphrey Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

JAMES L. SHERROD
Rosary will be recited at 8 pm tomorrow in Goodbody's El Cajon Mortuary
for James L. Sherrod, 56, whod died Monday night in a local hospital. Mass
will be said at 9 am Friday in the Little Flower Chapel with burial
following in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Mr. Sherrod formerly lived at 3784 Fortieth St., but recently resided in a
La Mesa rest home. He came here 15 years ago. Surviving are his wife, Mrs.
Pauline Sherrod; a son, James Sherrod, both of San Diego, and two sisters
in other cities.

ALBERT LEE JONES
Services will be at 10 am tomorrow in Lewis Colonial Mortuary for Albert
Lee Jones, 49, of 3252 Monroe Ave., who died sunday. Normal Heights Lodge
632, F&AM, of which he was a member, will conduct. Cremation will follow.

SANTIAGO SOMBILON
Requiem mass will be celebrated tomorrow at 9 am in Our Lady of Guadalupe
Church for Santiago Sombilon, 54, downtown hotel resident who died May 27.
Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Rogers Mortuary is in charge.
A native of the Philippine Islands, Mr. Sombilon formerly served with the
Philippine Constabulary Forces. He was a cook and had resided here 9 years.
No survivors are known.

MISS JESSIE SHERK
Los Angeles, June 6, (Special_ - Miss Jessie Sherk, for many years
secretary tothe late A. S. Bridges of San diego, died here recently.
Miss Sherk had been active inthe San diego Business and Professional
Women's club. She was made an honorarymember in appreciation of her figt to
the club of a cabinsite at Whispering Pines, near Julian.

ANDREW GINGLARDI RITES SET TUESDAY
Rosary for Andrew G. Ginglardi 89, of 1852 National Ave. employee of the
City Street Department from 1912 to 1935, will be recited at 7:30 p.m.
Monday in Goodbody's Ivy Chapel.
Requiem Mass will be said Tuesday morning at an hour not yet announced, in
St. Anne's Church. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Born in Italy, Mr. Ginglardi had lived here since 1909.
Survivors are three sons, Frank, a Suncrest market owner; John, of San
Pedro, and Henry, of San Diego; two grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

FRANCIS J. COVERT
Francis J. Covert, 51, World War I veteran, died today in Veterans
Hospital, Palo Alto. San Diego had been his home since 1920, but; he had
been hospitalized since 1927.
Survivors are his mother, Mrs. Mary Covert; three brothers, including
Wesley and Eugene Covert of San Diego, and a sister, Mrs. Wilma Warf, of
Coronado.
Arrangements will be made at Goodbody's Ivy Chapel.

MRS. LILLIAN ZIMMERMAN
Rites for Mrs. Lillian Zimmerman, 76, of 1071 Rosecrans St., will be at 10
a.m. Monday in Johnson-Saum Mortuary, Cremation will follow. She died Tuesday.

MRS. ALDIA M. SWEAZEY
Rites for Mrs. Aldia M. Sweazey, 57, of 526 San Jacinto Dr., will be at 10
a.m. Tuesday in Bonham Brothers Mortuary. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Mrs. Sweazey, a resident here since 1921, died yesterday.
Souvivors are her husband, C. C. Sweazey; two brothers and four sisters,
including Mrs. Viola Taylor, San Diego.

HENRY E. THOMPSON
Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow in Bonham Brothers Mortuary
for Henry E. Thompson, 44, a carpenter, who died Wednesday in Los Angeles.
He lived here 15 years until he moved to Paramount five years ago.
Requiem Mass will be said at 8 a.m. Monday in St. Joseph's Cathedral.
Survivors are his wife, Evelyn, of Paramount; his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Thompson, El Cajon; three sisters, including Mrs. Ruby Raynor and
Mrs. Catherine Owens, El Cajon, and a brother.

HARVEY F. SMITH
Services for Harvey F. Smith, 67, of 320 G St., will be at 1 p.m. Monday
in Greenwood Mortuary. Cremation will follow.
Mr. Smith, a San Diegan 29 years, died Thursday.
Survivors are three sisters and a brother in the East, and a niece, Mrs.
Mildred Davis, La Mesa.

GUSTAV A. MATTSON
Services for Gustav A. Mattson, 79, of 4845 Lilac Dr., will be at 3 p.m.
Monday in Greenwood Memorial Chapel. Entombment will be in Greenwood

CHARLES E BAILEY
Rites for Charles E. Bailey, 72, of 1731 Glencoe Dr., will be at 11 a.m.
Monday in Greenwood Mortuary. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park.
Mr. Bailey, a retired aircraft worker, died Thursday. He had lived there
eight years.
Survivors are his wife, Mildred; a sister, Mrs. Mary Anson, San Diego; a
brother in Illinois; a niece, Mrs. Vera Barber, Natinal City, and two
stepsons, Holly Ruhnow and Fredrick C. Ruhnow, La Mesa.

MRS. MARY CHATHAM
Graveside services for Mrs. Mary Chatham, 82, of 552 Genter St., La Jolla,
will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday in Oak Hill Memorial Park, Escondido.
Alhiser-Wilson Mortuary, Escondido, has charge. Mrs. Chatham, who had lived
25 years in this area, died Wednesday.

Services for Mrs. Roberta H. Stevenson of 4875 Mansfield St. will be held
at noon Monday in Greenwood Mortuary. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial

Mrs. Stevenson, who died Thursday, was born in Morth Carolina and and
lived here 46 years. She had been a department store employee and was a
memeber of Normal Height chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors are two sons, Telford Stevenson of El Cajon and Robert Stevenson
of San Diego; two sisters, and five grandchildren.

ALGENIA E. WRIGHT
Mrs. Algenia E. Wright, 66, of 6274 Stewart St., died yesterday. She is
survived by her son, Albin Wright of San Diego; her daughter Mrs. Mary A.
Beerie, of San Diego; a brother, four sisters and two grandchildren.
Private services are being handled by Greenwood Mortuary.

Mr. Ginglardi, who died Thursday, had lived here 62 years. In World War I
he served with Battlion A. 25th Artillery.
Survivors are his widow, Dathny; his daughter, Magdalena Zolezzi of San
Diego; a brother, Frank of San Diego, and; three grandchildren.

EVA MAY RICHARDS
Services for Eva May Richards, 86, of 4035 Ohio St., will be held at 3
p.m. tomorrow in Featheringill Mortuary. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Monday in
Forest Lawn Cemetary, Los Angeles.
Miss Richards, who died yesterday, was a native of San Diego and a member
of Our Savior Lutheran Church. There were no known survivors.

MRS. AUGUSTA PULLMAN
Services for Mrs. Augusta Pullman, 88, of 3726 Oleander Drive, will be at
10 a.m. Monday in Featheringill Mortuary.
Mrs. Pullamn, who died yesterday, was a native of New York City and came
to San Diego in 1912. She was a member of the San Diego Chapter, Order of
the Estern Star: the Daughters of the Nile, Ladies of the Oriental Shrine,
and First Methodist Church.
Survivors are a daughter, Elizabeth of San Diego; a son; three
grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

RALPH SCOTT
Services for Ralph Scott, 72, of 4037 1/2 43rd. St., will be held at 10
a.m. Monday in Rogers Mortuary. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park.
Mr. Scott died yesterday. A native of Missouri, he lived here 22 years. He
was a retired groceryman.
Survivors are three sons, including James and William of San Diego, five
grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

REV. ROBERT E. CRICK
Services for the Rev. Robert E. Crick, 88, of 5705 Redwood St., will be
held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Rogers Mortuary. Burial will be in Greenwood
Memorial Park.
The Rev. Mr. Crick died yesterday. He was a retired minister of the Family
of God Church and led congregations in Oklahoma and Texas. He had lived
here 23 years in retirement.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Wilson, and a sister, Mrs. Marie
Crosby, both of San Diego, and one granddaughter.

Services for Margaret W. Miller, 68, a county resident for 40 years, will
be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Greenwood Mortuary followed by burial in
Greenwood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Miller, of 9290 Campo Rd., Spring Valley, died Tuesday. She was a
native of New York.
Surviving are her husband, Leroy I.; two sons, Ivan of La Mesa and Wayne
of Spring valley, and a sister.
The family suggest donations to the Heart Fund.

ORA E. KEITHLEY
Graveside military services for Ora E. Keithley, 96, a vereran of the
Spanish-American War, will be held at 11:30 a.m. tomorrow at Golden Gate
National Cemetery near San Francisco.
Mr. Keithley, of 117 Washington St., died May 24 at a local hospital.
A native of Missouri, Mr. Keithley served in the Phillipines during the
war. He was a member of the cavalry and was one of five brothers in the war.
Mr. Keithley is survived by a sister, Mrs. Etta Sargent; a miece, Mrs.
Edna York, both of San Diego.
Benbough Mortuary is in charge.

MRS. VIRGINIA A. AXELROD
Services for Mrs. Virginia A. Axelrod, 42, will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow
in Cypress View Mortuary. Inurnment will be in Cypress View Mausoleum. She
died Saturday in a local hospital.
A native of San Diego, she had lived here for the last 28 years. She
graduated from Point Loma High School. She was a member of the Pink Ladies
of Scripps Memorial Hospital and the Clairemont Junior Woman's Club.
Survivors include her husband, Rudolph; three sons, Michael, Richard and
Jeffery, all of the home, and one sister.

JAMES W. CAINE
Services for James W. Caine, 51, a captain with the San Diego Fire Dept.,
who died Sunday, will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow at Greenwood Memorial Park.
Capt. Caine, of 12370 Royal Rd., El Cajon, was a county resident for 30
years. He was a native of Minnesota.
He had been a fireman for 25 years and was a member of San Diego Fire
Fighters Local 145 and the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks 1812 of El
Cajon.
Surviving are his wife, Ruby, a cousin and an uncle.

ISOBEL BAUMGARTNER
Services for Isobel Baumgartner, 68, who died yesterday, will be held at
10:30 a.m. tomorrow at La Jolla Mortuary Chapel, followed by burial in El
Camino Memorial Park.
Mrs. Baumgartner, a resident here for 20 years, lived at 5811 Stresemann
St.. She was a native of London and was a naturalized citizen of the United
States.
Surviving are her husband, Walter A., and two sisters.

ROBERT H. SAGER
Services for Robert H. Sager, 66, a county resident for 44 years, will be
held at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow at Berge Roberts Mortuary. Burial will be in
Glen Abbey Memorial Park.
Mr. Sager, who died yesterdsy, lived at 241 E. 4th St., National City. He
was a native of New York.
He had been employed at the Butterfield Ranch resort in Julian. He also
worked at the 32nd St. Naval Station for 20 years.
Mr. Sager was a member of the First United Methodist Church of National
City and the Southwest Masonic Lodge 283 F & AM. Services will be under the
auspices of the lodge and the Rev. Robert Davis, pastor of First United
Methodist Church.
Serviving are a Daughter, Mrs. Donna M. Cowan of La Mesa; a son, and five
grandchildren.

Masonic services for Howard L. Leedom, 71, of 3634 Copley Ave., will be at

Mr Leedom, a native of Missouri, was an area resident 23 years, He died
Wednesday.
He was a retired bookkeeper.
Mr. Leedom was a member of Lancaster (Mo.) Lodge 259, F&AM.
Surviving are his widow, Edith; three daughters, including Mrs. Ruth M.
Shoemaker of San Diego; a brother; two sisters, 11 grandchildren, and five
great grandchildren.

PAUL J. ROUSSEAU
El Cajon - Rosary for Paul J. rousseau, 60, of 626 Prescott Ave., will be
at 7:30 tonight in Paris Mortuary.
Mr. Rousseau, a native of Michigan, was an area resident 35 years. He died
Monday.
Requiem Mass will be said at 9 am tomorrow in Holy Trinity Catholic
Church. Burial arrangements are pending.
He was a service station attendant.
Survivors are his widow, Dorothy; three sons, Karl of Santee, Richard and
Robert of El Cajon; tow daughters, Karen and Susan of El Cajon; two
sisters, Mrs. Vera Krause of National City and Mrs. Geraldine Hollis of
Chula Vista and three grandchildren.

MRS FAUSTENA T. YOUNG
Services for Mrs. Faustena T. Young, 89, of 2707 44th St., will be at 9 am
tomorrow by Rebekah Lodge 137, IOOF; in Greenwood Mortuary followed by
cremation.
Mrs Young, a native of Massachusetts was an area resident 53 years. She
died Sunday.
Surviving are her dauighter, Mrs. Eileen Stead of San Diego; a son; six
grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren.

Services for Orpha E. Bremer, 73, of Tierrasanta, will be at 1 pm tomorrow
in All Saints Episcopal Church. Entombment will be in Greenwood Mausoleum.
Greenwood Mortuary is in charge. She died Monday in a hospital.
Mrs. Bremer was born in Illinois and lived in the county 50 years. She had
been a homemaker.
Survivors include two daughters, Joan Bremer and Patricia James, both of
San Diego, a brother, Henry Fogerty of Escondido, and two grandchildren.

RIAN L. WILLIAMS
Memorial services for Rian L. Williams, 27, of El Cajon, will be at 3 pm
Sunday in Rolando United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Greenwood
Memorial Park. Greenwood Mortuary is in chare. He died Tuesday in a hospital.
Mr. Williams was born in El Cajon and was a Denny's Restaurant cook.
Survivors include his wife, Connie; a daughter, Chorynia, and his mother,
Margaret, all of El Cajon; his father, Robert, of Salinas; his paternal
grandmother, Lela Williams of El Cajon; and his maternal grandfather,
Milton windham of Santee. The family suggested donations to the church or
the San Diego Chapter of the Leukemia Society of America.

RICHARD T. COXETER
Memorial services for Richard T. Coxeter, 79, of Mission Hills, will be at
10 am tomorrow in First Lutheran Church in San Diego. Cremation was planned
by the Neptune Society, with ashes to be scattered at sea. He died
yesterday in a hospital.
Mr. coxeter was born in Conecticut and lived in the county 56 years. He
had been a jeweler and was a Convair engineer for 19 years.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret; three daughters, Mary Lou Nagle of
El Cajon and Julie Roth and Anne Wolford, both of Pleasanton; seven
grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. The family suggested donations
to charity.

JAEGER COUPLE'S SERVICES HELD
Services for Ambrose "Andy" Jaeger, 68, and his wife, Jayne, 60, were
today in Greenwood Mortuary. Cremation has taken place.
Mr. Jaeger died Sunday at the family home in Chula Vista. Mrs. Jaeger died
Monday in a hospital.
Mr. Jaeger was born in Wisconsin and lived in the county 25 years. His
wife was born in Chicago and lived in the county 30 years.
Mr. Jaeger had been a salesman for Greenwood Memorial Park, and his wife
was a clerk-typist for the Elks Lodge in Chula Vista.
He was a member of the lodge and the Fleet Reserve Association and his
wife was a member of the lodge's Emblem Club.
Surviving are two daughters, including Ann Kaltner of Chula Vista; a son,
Joseph M. Braun Jr. of San Diego; and three grandchildren
Mr. Jaeger's survivors include two sisters, Esther Corey of Chula Vista
and Paula Bowe of Escondido.
Mrs. Jaeger's survivors include her parents, Mr. and Mrs. F.L. Conrad of
San Diego, and three brothers.

MARY GEROCHE JOHNSON
A rosary for Mary Geroche Johnson, 67, wil be recited at 7 tonight in
Erickson-Anderson Mortuary, where a prayer service will be conducted at 11
a.m. tomorrow. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Mrs. Johnson, a Spring Valley resident, died Sunday in a hospital.
She was born in San Diego and lived in the county all her life. She was a
homemaker and a member of the Alpha Iota Chapter of Epsilson Sigma sorority.
Surviving are her husband, U. Sherman, two daughters; her mother, Katie
Soper, and a brother, Victor Geroche, both of San Diego; and two
grandchildren.

PETE DALLA JR.
A rosary for Pete Dalla Jr., 61, a construction worker, will be recited a
8:15 tonight in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, where a Mass will be said
at 9 a.m. tomorrow Burial with military honors will be in El Camino
Memorial Park.
Mr. Dalla, a Spring Valley resident, died Tuesday in a hospital.
He was born in Tacoma, Wash., and lived in the county 34 years. Before
working in construction, he served in the Navy, retiring as a chief petty
officer. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association and Knights of
Columbus No. 4258
Surviving are his wife, Nancy, a son, Michael Dalla, a National City
councilman, a daughter, Patty Wilson of Bonita; a sister, two brothers; and
two grandchildren.
Berge-Roberts Mortuary is in charge.

ALLEN E. HUMPHREY
A graveside service will be counducted at 10 a.m. tomorrow in El Cajon
Cemetery for Allen E. Humphrey, 91, an El Cajon resident who died Tuesday
in a hospital. Paris Mortuary is in charge.
Mr. Humphrey was born in Montana.
He lived in the county 75 years and was the owner and operator of the H&H
Auto Wrecking Co. for 30 years. After retiring in 1962, he raised quarter
horses.
Surviving ar his wife, Myrna; two daughters, Margaret Starr of Lemon Grove
and Sharon Bryan of El Cajon; one son; two brothers, including Merrill, of
San Diego; a sister; one grandson, and two great-grandchildren.

LISA J. MILLER TO BE BURIED IN FLORIDA
Burial for Lisa J. Miller, 31, a Poway resident who died Tuesday, has been
planned in Clearwater, Fla.. Visitation at Poway-Bernardo Mortuary will be
from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday. No services are planned here.
A spokesman for the corner's office said Mrs. Miller died from a single
gunshot to the head. Police arrested a merchant seaman.
Mrs. Miller was born in Washington state and lived in the county about two
years. She was business manager for a mail-order company and also a
part-time belly dancer.
Surviving are her husband, Frederick of Daly City; one daughter, Kirsten
of Poway; her mother; and two brothers.

BILLY MASON
A Masonic memorial service was conducted today at Berry-Bell and Hall
Mortuary in Fallbrook for Billy "Moose" Mason, 59, a Fallbrook resident who
died Feb. 25 at his home. Cremation was planned.
Mr. Mason was born in West Virginia, lived in the county 25 years and was
a bartender after retiring from 22 years in the Marine Corps.. He was a
member of the Fallbrook Elks Lodge.
Surviving are one aunt and two cousins.

ORELAND SPENCER
A service will be conducted at 1 p.m. tomorrow in the El Cajon Elks Lodge
for former lodge president Oreland "Spence" Spencer, 64, a La Mesa resident
who died Tuesday in a hospital. Cremation was planned under the direction
of El Cajon Mortuary.
Mr. Spencer was born in Arkansas, lived in the county 48 years and was a
civilian engineer for the Navy 37 years. He served in the Navy for five
years before World War II and was a square-dance caller for about 15 years.
Surviving are his wife, Martha; two daughters; one brother; a sister; and
two grandchildren.

GEORGE R TIEMANN JR. SERVICES CONDUCTED
Services for George R. Tiemann Jr., custodian at Central Christian Church,
were today at the church. Entombment was in Greenwood Mausoleum.
Mr. Tiemann, a North Park resident, died Saturday in a hospital.
He was born in St. Louis and lived her 40 years.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth; three sons, Scott, Robin and George, all of
San Diego; four daughters, including Penny Kimbrel, Shirley Tiemann and
Debbie Atkinson, all of San Diego, and seven grandchildren.
Greenwood Mortuary was in charge.

PETER ARNOLD
A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. tomorrow in Greater Jackson
Memorial Church in God and Christ for Peter Arnold, 50, a Southeast San
Diego resident who died Saturday in a hospital. Burial will follow in La
Vista Memorial Park.
Mr. Arnold was born in Florida, lived in the county 28 years and was a
house-painter most of his life.
Surviving are four sisters, Vernell Thomas, Sadie Rackley, Gussie Hill and
Annie Reid, and six brothers, including Freddie Arnold and Philip
Arnold-Johner, all of San Diego.

MARTHA MCGUIRE
Services for Martha McGuire, 82, were today in Greenwood Mortuary. Burial

Mrs. McGuire died Sunday in her home in East San Diego. She was born in

ISAAC RUBIN, 72, DIES SUDDENLY
 Isaac Rubin, of Los Angeles, 72, owner of Rubin's clothing store here
from 1912 to 1942, died unexpectedly in a local hotel yesterday. He had
come here to visit a son, Ben B. Rubin, attorney.
Mr. Rubin came here in 1912 from Dublin, Ireland, and established the
store on Seventh Ave. and Broadway. He sold it in 1942, retired and moved
to Los Angeles.
Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Miriam Rubin, of Los Angeles; a daughter,
Mrs. A. Tenenbaum, of Long Beach; three sons, Myer and Edward E. Rubin,
both of Los Angleles, and Ben Rubin, of San Diego; three sisters, Mrs. Ben
Rittoff, of San Diego, and two others who reside in Ireland, and three
grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m., tomorrow in Johnson-Saum Chapel here,
Entombment will be in Home of Peace Mausoleum, Los Angeles.

F. ROSS DYE
Services for F. Ross Dye, 75, retired farmer, who died Saturday in his
home, 1545 S. Forty-seventh St., will be conducted by Dr. George A. Warmer
at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Bonham Brothers Chapel. Emtombment will be in
Cypress View Mausoleum.
Mr. Dye was born in Indiana. He had resided here 27 years.

MRS. NELL KERLIN
Funeral arrangements are pending at the Coronado mortuary for Mrs. Nell
Kerlin, 74, a resident of Hotel Del Coronado, who died in a Coronado
hospital yesterday after being stricken with a heart ailment. She was the
widow of John F. Kerlin. A son, Louis J. Kerlin, of Larchmont, N.Y., survives.

JOHN WESLEY COUNCIL
National City, March 22 (Special)-- Funeral arrangements were pending
today at Johnson-Saum Mortuary, San Diego, for John Wesley Council, 4, who
died of leukemia yesterday in a San Diego hospital after a 6-month illness.
Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Paula Council, and a brother, Richard, both

here 40 years, having been employed in wholesale produce markets.

Services were held today in Lewis Colonial Mortuary for the Rev. Jacob M.
Boaz, 79, of 2919 Thorn St.. Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetary.
The Rev. Mr. Boaz died Friday in his home. He was a minister in the Church
of the Brethren 41 years, including four years here. He retired several
years ago.
Survivors are his widow, Edna; two sons, Gladden, San Diego, and Royce,
Dallas, Tex.; a brother, the Rev. William Boaz, Trenton, N.J.; a sister,
Mrs. Sally Godshall of Pennsylvania, and five grandchildren.

JESSE J. MCINTOSH
Graveside services for Jessie J. McIntosh, 70, of 1547 Granada Ave., will

Colonial Mortuary has charge.
Mr. McIntosh, a retired Army master sergeant, died Saturday in a hospital.
He was born in Kentucky and moved here 21 years ago.

Robert E. L. Powell, 68, a retired civil service employe, died yesterday

John E. Myerly, 76, a retired carpenter who had lived here 55 years, died

SCHINDLER BURIAL RITE HELD TODAY
Services were held today for Scott Schindler, 21, who died in an
automobile crash near Marysville, Friday night. Burial followed in El
Camino Memeorial Park.
Mr. Schindler, who attended California State University at Chico, was
graduated from Patrick Henry High School. He was an assistant basketball
coach at the John Wooden Basketball Camp in the summer of 1976. He attended
United States International University last year and played basketball for
the school team.
Survivors include his father, Ernest, and his mother, Jean; a sister, Gail
Fogelman, of San Diego; his brother, Neil, of Lakeside, his paternal
grandmother, Gussie Schindler of San Diego, and his maternal grandparents,
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Gulko of San Diego.
The family has created a Scott Schindler Memorial Scholarship Fund at
Chico State and suggests contributions to the fund.

GRACE GOODPASTER

Mrs. Goodpaster, 87, of 9443 Pearlwood Rd., died Sunday. A homemaker, she

Mr. Burgi, 47, of 244 Palomar Ave., died Sunday. A native of El Centro, he

GERALD L. MORRIS
A blessing service was held today for Gerald LeRoy Morris, 33, of 2708

Mr. Morris was a native of San Diego and was granduated from San Diego
High School.
A welder, he was employed by San Diego Marine Construction.
Mr. Morris is survived by his son, Tyrone; his parents, Mr. and Mrs.

ELMER G. STODDARD
Rosary for Elmer G. Stoddard, 68, of 4666 Boundary St., will be recited

Mr. Stoddard, who died Friday at his home, was a watchman for San Diego
County. He served in the Navy during World War II, and was a member of the

HELEN C. SMITH

Smith, 72, owner of Smith Shade and Linoleum Shop in North Park. She died
Saturday in a hospital.
Mrs. Smith, of 12605 Mapleview St., Lakeside, was a native of New York.
She lived here for 60 years.
She was a member of the Silvergate Chapter, Order of Eastern Star; North
Park Businessmen's Club and the North Park Soroptimist Club. She was also
an organist for the Brooklyn Heights Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her daughter, Anita Paradowski, of Lakeside; a
sister, Ruth Galan, of San Diego, and three grandchildren. Greenwood

MRS. EVELYN SMITH SERVICES SCHEDULED
Services for Mrs. Evelyn Daw Smith, 58, general chairman of the National
Shakespeare Festivals here in 1961 and 1962 will be held at 1 p.m. tomorrow
in Bendough Mortuary. Burial will be in El Camino Memorial Park.
Mrs. Smith, of 2448 Presidio Drive, died Sunday. She was a county resident
18 years. She was featured in a 1937 motion picture entitled "Something To
Sing About", with James Cagney. After working in motion pictures, she spent
11 years singing operatta for the Shubert Brothers in New York.
In San Diego, Mrs. Smith was named as a Woman of Valor for Culture in
1962. She was a former member of the board of directors of the Old Globe
Theater and a member of the San Diego Symphony Association. The wife of Dr.
Steward H. Smith , a gynecologist, she once served as chariman of the
harvest Holiday Ball sponsored by the Woman's Auxiliary of the county
medical society.
Surviving in addition to her husband are her mother; two sons, Steward Jr.
and Gregory, both of San Diego; two daughters and two brothers.

MRS. RUTH E. RIGHTER
Services for Mrs. Ruth Emelle Righter, 69, of 3879 1/2 39th. St., will be
held at 10 a.m. tomorrow in Cypress View Mortuary. Embombment will be in
Cypress View Mausoleum.
A county resident for 31 years, she was a native of New York. Mrs. Righter
once worked as a nurse in San Diego. She was a member of the Vocational
Nurses League of California. She died yesterday.

Services for Cmdr. Frank Darrah, USN, ret., 57, who died Sunday, will be

Cmdr. Darrah, of 4566 52nd St., joined the Navy in 1939. He served in
Guadalcanal, the Philippine Islands and Alaska during his career. He was
made a sonar school commander in 1955 in San Diego. He retired in 1958.
He was a member of East San Diego Lodge 561, F&AM; -Royal Arch Masons 143;
Al Bahr Shrine an the Retired Officers Association. He was born in
Missouri. He was a county resident 37 years.
Surviving ar his widow, Margaret; four brothers, including Ralph of Chula
Vista, and two sisters, including Mrs. Geneva Helm of Chula Vista. The
family suggests contributions to the Crippled Children's Fund of Al Bahr
Shrine.

ALEXANDER N. ESPARZA
Rosary for Alexander N. Esparza, 54, of 2734 Reynard Way, will be recited
7:30 tonight in Goodbody's Ivy Chapel.
Mr. Exparza, a native San Diegan and lifetime resident, was fatally
injured Saturday when he was struck by a car as he attempted to cross State
67 near Prospect Ave. in El Cajon.
Requiem Mass will be said at 10 a.m. tomorrow in Christ the King Catholic
Church followed by burial in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Mr. Esparza was a construction worker for the past five years. He was a
member Labor Union Local 89, AFL.
He was a Purple Heart veteran of World War II, having served with the Army
in combat.
Surviving are his widow, Petra; four sons, Cesar, Edward, Nicholas and
Alexander Jr.; three daughters, Teresa, Evangelina and Ramona Exparza; two

John H. Babcock, reside here.
The family asks that no flowers be sent and that instead contributions be
made to the Shrine Hospital for Crippled Children in Los Angeles.
Dr. Babcock died Wednesday in a Los Angeles hospital. His wife, Mrs.
Margaret Babcock; his mother and brothers survive.
Dr. Babcock was a prominent Mason and was active in the American Legion,
having been a founder member and first commander of Dr. Albert Soiland
post. he served 33 months in the China-Burma Theater in the Medical Corps
in World War II.

Services for Elmer H. Kogler, 74, of Chula Vista, will be at 7 tonight in

charge. He died Saturday in a hospital.
Mr. Kogler, a native of Orange, lived in the county 51 years. He was a
self-employed certified public accountant for 25 years.
Survivors include his wife, Marsha; two daughters, Joyce Green of San
Diego and Mary Amendolagine of New Mexico; two sons, Henry, of Missouri,
and Robert, of San Pedro; three sisters, Inez, Evelyn Ream and Carolyn
Harms, all of Orange; and nine grandchildren. The family suggested

Lutheran Hour."

GLADYS STRUM
Services for Gladys Strum, 91, of Chula Vista, were today in Greenwood
Mortuary. Entombment was in Greenwood Mausoleum. She died Sunday in a
hospital.
Mrs. Strum was a native of Illinois. She lived in the county 27 years and
was a homemaker.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty Coleman of Oklahoma and Shirley
Franklin of San Diego three sons, Herchel Ownbey of National City and
Richard and James Ownbey, both of Hemet; 17 grandchildren; 15
great-grandchildren; and two grest-great-grandchildren.

Services for Eve R. Borchardt, 93, of La Jolla, will be at 11:30 a.m.

She died Friday in a hospital.
Mrs. Borchardt, a native of Chicago, lived in the county 29 years. She had
been a commercial artist for the Coffman and Fabray Co.

LAURETTA M. SWAPP
A rosary for Lauretta M. Swapp, 81, of Linda Vista, will be recited at 7

hospital.
Mrs. Swapp was born in North Dakota, lived in the county 44 years and was
a San Diego Unified School District cafeteria worker for 10 years. She was
a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and its Altar Society. she
celebrated her 54th wedding anniversary June 8.
Suvivors include her husband. Howard; two sons, Thomas, of San Diego, and
Howard, of Illinois; a daughter, Janet Lachman, and a sister, Richadean
Burrows, both of San Diego; two brothers, Gilbert Wolfe of El Cajon and
Burnett Wolfe of San Marcos; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

La Mesa--Services for Hilmer T. Severin, retired real estate broker, home
builder and designer of the Severin Roadster automobile of 1918, will be
held at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Greenwood Mortuary.
Mr. Severin, of 9299 Lemon Ave., died yesterday. He was 87.
A native of Kansas and a county resident 30 years, he was a retired vice
president of the Severin, Garzenelli & Stenbeck Real Estate Co., and was
the broker who arrranged for the first FHA-approved commitment and loan for
the Kensington-Talmadge area of San Diego.
Mr. Severin was a member of the San Diego and La Mesa board of realtors;
the California Real Estate Assn.; the National Institute of Real Estate
Brokers, and a former statistician and tax assessor.
His Severin Roadster was built and marketed from 1918 to 1921.
He is survived by his wife, Selma (Sally); one son; two brothers, includng
John S. Severin of La Mesa; two sisters, including Mrs. Anna White of San
Diego; two grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Entombment will be in Greenwood Mausoleum.

MYRTLE D. WRIGHT
Memorial services for Myrtle D. Wright, 81, of 1166 12th Ave. will be held

Mrs. Wright, a native of Utah and a county resident 65 years, was the
retired owner and operator of the Victor Doyle Co., a San Diego art and

Miss Hooley was a native of Iowa. She was a city librarian in the San
Diego Public Library for 15 years. She was city librarian in Cedar Rapids,
Iowa, before coming here 44 years ago.
She died Wednesday in a hospital.
She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and a former regent of
the Catholic Daughters of America. She also was a member of the Third Order
of St Francis and the Blue Army.
Surviving are five sisters, including Mrs. C. J. Healey and Agnes C.
Hooley, both of San Diego.

EDWARD J. WOOD
La Mesa - Rosary for Edward J. Wood, 58, at 4508 Olive Ave., will be
recited at 7 p.m. tomorrow in Goodbody's Boulevard Chapel San Diego.
Requiem Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Martin's Catholic Church.

A native of Canada, he had lived here 40 years. He was an engine evaluator
and examiner for 23 years at North Island Naval Air Station.
Mr. Wood died Thursday in a hospital.
He was an active member of St. Martin's Catholic Church.
Surviving ar his widow, Anna G., two sons, John and Lloyd, both of San
Diego; his mother, Mrs. John Wood of San Diego; two brothers; and a sister,
Mrs. Jennie Brown of San Diego.

MRS. BESS M. SIMPSON
National City - Services for Mrs. Bess M. Simpson, 75, of 3007 Shelby
Drive, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Greenwood Mortuary. Burial will be
in Fort Roscrans National Cemetery.
A native of New York, Mrs. Simpson had lived here 28 years.
She died Wednesday in a hospital.

DAVID A. KAY
Lemon Grove - Services for David A. Kay, 72, of 3640 Costa Bella St., will

A native of Canada, he had lived here 18 years. He retired in 1953 after
45 years as a carpenter and general contractor employe.
Mr. Kay died Thursday in a hospital.
He was a member of the Carpenters Union No. 2398 of El Cajon; the Veterans
of World War I, No. 1744, Spring Valley; and a life member of the National
League of Senior Citizens.
He also was a member of the American Association of Retired People.
Surviving are his widow, Marie; two sons, a sister, three step-sons and
five grandchildren.

MRS. MAE ELNORE GRAHAM
Lemon Grove -  Services for Mrs. Mae Elnore Graham, 80, of 7512 Roosevelt

She was the wife of G. Ray Graham, retired publisher of the Lemon Grove
Review.
A native of Iowa, Mrs. Graham was a county resident 21 years. She died

She was a member of the Lemon Grove Kiwanians.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two daughters, including Mrs.
Rae Long of Lemon Grove; two brothers; two sisters; three grandchildren and
two great-grandchildren.

WILLIS J. BRIGGS

Mr. Griggs was a retired hardwood floor contractor. A native of

Survivors include his wife, Agnes; a brother, Lawrence, of Ramona, and a
sister, Josephine McCabe of San Diego.

MATTIE DUVALL
Services for Mattie I. Duvall, 84, a former resident of Point Loma and

She died Saturday in Red Bluff, Calif., where she had recently moved after
40 years in Point Loma and two years in Chula Vista.
Mrs. Duvall was born in Minnesota, lived in the county 54 years and was a
saleswoman for Montgomery Ward & Co. for 45 years and a member of the
Eagles Aerie 244 Auxiliary and Point Loma Methodist Church. She had also
worked at Elm's Children's Store in Chula Vista.

Final rites for Leslie Leon Johnson, 59, retired fireman and former San
Diegan, of Mesa, Ariz., who died Monday in Mesa, will be conducted at 1:30

Circle, Greenwood Memorial park, under auspices of the Church of Jesus
Christ of Latte-day Saints.
Born in Tempe, Ariz., Mr. Johnson came to San Diego and joined the fire
department in 1911. After a brief leave of absence in 1917 to serve in the
navy during World War 1, he returned to the department and retired in 1934.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Maggie M. Johnson; two daughters, Mrs.

He died Monday in a convalescent home.
Mr. Henderson, a longtime Point Loma resident, was born in Owosso, Mich.,
lived in the county 50 years and was a trial attorney for 25 years,
retiring in 1961. He was a past member of the San Diego Club, the Cuyamaca
Club and the state Bar, to which he was accepted in 1932.
Survivors include his wife, Rhoda, a son; three stepchildren, and four
step-grandchildren.
The family suggested donations to charity or to the Alzheimer's Disease
and Related Disorders Association.

JUAN J. CASTELO
A rosary for Juan J. Castelo, 54, of Logan Heights, will be recited at 7
tonight in Greenwood Mortuary. A Mass will be said at 9 a.m. tomorrow in
Our Lady of Angels Roman Catholic Church. Burial will be in Greenwood
Memorial Park.
Mr. Castelo was born in Los Angeles, lived in the county 41 years and was
a aircraft painter for 20 years at North Island Naval Air Station.
Survivors include his wife, Mercedes, four daughters, Cecilia, Patricia,
Helen and Teresa, three sons, Albert, Adrian and Richard, and a sister,
Evelia, all of San Diego, his father, Augustine of Tijuana and five
grandchildren.

OLIVER CARNRIKE
Services for Oliver M. Carnrick, 85, of East San Diego, were today in
Rogers Mortuary. Entombment was in Greenwood Mausoleum.
He died Sunday in a hospital.
Mr. Carnrike was born in Schoyer, Kan., lived in the county 73 years, was
a clerk for 26 years for the J.S. Schrim Co. and was a member of East San
Diego Presbyterian Church and Forester's Court Hospitality 779.
Survivors include his wife, Agnes, a brother, Lawrence, of Ramona, and a
sister, Josephine McCabe of San Diego.
The family suggested donations to the church's parking lot fund.

CHARLES BECKER
A rosary for Charles W. Becker, 67, of El Cajon, will be said at 8 tonight
at Paris-Frederick Mortuary, where services will be conducted at 9 a.m.
tomorrow. Burial will follow in El Camino Memorial Park.
He died Sunday in a hospital.
Mr. Becker was born in Kansas, had been a resident of the county since
1938 and was a real estate developer. He was in the Marine Corps from 1938
to 1946, when he was discharged with the rank of warrant officer.
He was a member of the National Council of Shopping Centers and the El
Cajon Valley Hospital Research Group and was 1967 El Cajon Citizen of the
Year.
Survivors include his wife, Winifred, and four brothers.

CLIFFORD MILLER
Services for Dr. Clifford R. Miller will be at 1 p.m. tomorrow in Roger
Mortuary. Entombment will be in Greenwood Mausoleum.
He died Saturday in a convalescent hospital.
Dr. Miller, of El Cajon, was born in Calgary, Canada, lived in the county
52 years and was an optometrist in North Park for 43 years before his 1974
retirement. He was a member of the North Park Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife, Myrtle.

PING Y. TOM
Services for Ping Y. Tom, 72, of Logan Heights, will be at 2 p.m. Friday
in Lewis Colonial Benbough Mortuary. Burial will follow in Mount Hope
Cemetery.
He died Thursday in a hospital.
Mr. Tom was born in China, lived in the county 52 years and owned the
Quong Chong Laundry for 30 years.

Alpine (Special) -- Services for Thomas Lee, 75, of the Pinkerton
Detective Agency, will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow in Bonham Brothers Mortuary,
San Diego. Cremation will follow. Mr. Lee died yesterday.
Born in Canada, Mr. Lee moved to Montana when 19 and came here n 1920,
when he established a business in National City. He had been with the
detective agency several years. He resided with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bellamy,
of Alpine.
At his bedside were his son, Frank W., of Berkeley, and his daughter, Mrs.
Mabel Bellamy, wife of Col. Paul E. Bellamy, attached to 5th Army
Headquarters, Chicago. The son and daughter formerly lived here.
Also surviving are five brothers and two sisters in Canada, and five
grandchildren.

ALFRED MITCHELL RITES TOMORROW

Alfred J. Mitchell, 41, of Johnstown, El Cajon Valley, an engineer on the

Jack, much loved husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many, passed
away peacefully in his home January 11, 1997. Jack, a fourth generation
Californian, was born November 4, 1912 in Los Angeles. He was a gifted
musician and lover of life. Fifty eight years ago, on April 23, 1938, he
married the love of his life Cecil Kindelon. He followed in his father's
footsteps and made the shoe business his life long work, rising to be an
executive with U.S. Shoe Corporation . When it came time to retire, Jack
only shifted his emphasis from manufacturing and sales to retailing to
become one of the founders of the Western Shoe Retailers Association, a
trade organization dedicated to assisting the independent shoe retailers
across the western United States. Jack will be remembered for his love for
his family, his loyalty to his friends, his dedication to whatever task
that confronted him and his generosity to those less fortunate. He is
survived by his wife Cecil, his daughters Julie Schmiesing and Lynn Martin,
his son Jay and eight grandchildren. The Memorial Service will be held at
St. Thomas More Church, 1910 Shadowridge Drive, Vista, CA at 10:30 a.m.on

Herbert Franz. The family and friends of Herbert Franz Meeder are grieving
the loss of beloved hasband, father and Opa at the age of 61 on January 10,
1997. Born in Hamm, Germany on May 22, 1935, he married Birgitt Abel on
December 29, 1961. Together with his wife, they immigrated to California
early in 1962 and settled in the house in El Cajon they shared until his
death. He worked as a Special Agent, CLU, with Prudential Ins. Co. and was
active for many years in the German American Societies, both as a member of
its board and as past president. He was also a proud part of the Sister
City Committee of El Cajon. Other activities and interests included a
life-long passion for stamp collecting, love for classical music and an
appreciation of nature. Herb is survived by his wife of 35 years. Birgitt;
a son Herbert (Jennifer), with son Ian; daughter Claudia Jensen (Mark),
with Amber, Scott and Kirsten; son Stefan (Debbie), with a child due in
August; and daughter Birgitta. A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday,

Dr. Ernest Kurt of Del Mar, California, was killed in a mid-air collision
of two private planes on December 24, 1996 in San Diego, California. Born
in Phoenix, Arizona in 1949, he was preceeded in death by his father, Dr.
Ernest Kurt Metzner of Dresden, Germany; and survived by his mother and
step father, Mr. & Mrs. Leonard Saff of Vista, California and Kane,
Pennsylvania; his

Pharmecauticals in San Diego. Kurt was an avid sailor who thrived on

member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Rebecca Lodge.
Survivors include two sons, John Cowart of San Carlos and James Henderson

KYMBERLEE A. HARTWELL
A memorial Mass for Kymberlee A. Hartwell, 15, a La Mesa resident, will be

former Miss San Diego.
Mrs. Lombard was born in Illinois.

DONALD GANTNER

Donald Gantner, 44 of 1634 Law St., a World War II veteran. Burial will be

Mr. Gantner, a Convair employe who formerly served 22 years in the Navy,
died Tuesday in a hospital.
Born in Fresno, he had lived here 20 years.

El Cajon -- The rosary of Oscar Carl Buchmiller, 60, a retired Navy chief

Mr Buchmiller died Wednesday in his home at ____ _____ St..  A native of

scout leader for five years.
He served in the Navy from 1936 to 1956, and was a veteran of both World
War II and the Korean War. Later he worked as a custodian at Holy Cross
Cemetery for four years.
He is survived by his wife, Joan A.; two daughters, Ninelle Colson  and
Rose Marie Buchmiller, of El Cajon; three sons, John, James and the Rev.
Ronald Buchmiller, also of El Cajon; and six grandchildren.
The family requested that no flowers be sent.

FRANCIS E. MURRAY
Chula Vista -- Services for Francis E. Murray, 79, a former Naval Training
Center Security patrolamn, will be held at 1 p.m. tomorrow at Greenwood
Mortuary, followed by entombment in Greenwood Mausoleum.
Mr. Murray died Wednesday in a hospital. He resided at 1500 Third Ave.,
No. 52, and had spent 23 years in the county. He worked for 12 years as a
security patrolman.
Mr. Murray was a native of Chicago, Ill., and served inthe U.S. Army
during World War II.
He is survivied by his wife, Elizabeth V., a son; a brother; a sister, Ann
Palmer of San Diego;  a nephew, Wiliam Powers of San Diego; and an aunt.

MARY LOGRASSO
The rosary for Mary LoGrasso, 67, was recited at 7:30 last night at
Goodbody Mortuary and a Mass was said at 9 a.m. today at Our Lady of the
Rosary Roman Catholic Church.
Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery followed.
Mrs. LoGrasso, of 1610 W. Redwood St., died Tuesday in a hospital. She was
a homemaker and a native of St. Louis who had spent 60 years in San Diego.
She was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church, the Maria S.S.
Addoloria Society, and the Societa De Maria S.S. Del Lume.

Chula Vista -- Services for Immanuel H. Young, 66, will be held at 8 a.m.
tomorrow in Greenwood Mortuary with an honor guard by the Boy Scouts
Commissioners. Burial will be in Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery.
Mr. Young, of 288 Broadway, died Friday at his home.
He was a native of Illinois and lived in this area four years. He was a
retired used car salesman.
A veteran of World War I, he was past commander of American Legion Post
521, Rio Linda, Calif., and member of American Legion Post 6, San Diego. He
was assistant district commissioner of San Diego County Council Boy Scouts
of America.
Survivors include his widow, Lillian F.; two sons, Robert L. of San Diego,
and Virgil of Missouri, and four daughters, Mrs. Dira Clow, Mrs. Betty
Ridgemen and Mrs. Wanda Teemand, all of Illinois, and Miss Joyce Young of
Sacramento.

MRS. MARGUERITE YOUNG
Services for Mrs. Marguerite (Mickey) Young, 58, of 3856 Strand Way, will
be at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow in Bonham Brothers Mortuary.
Mrs. Young, who had lived here 50 years, died Monday in a hospital. She
was born in Huntington Beach. Mrs. Young was a member of Hosiptality Court
No. 779. Independent Order of Foresters, and Veterans of Foreign Wars, O.K.
Ingram Auxilliary Post, which will officiate at the services.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Marguerite J. Sismour, and two sisters,
Mrs. Irene King and Mrs. Frances Garland, all of San Diego.
Cremation is planned.

MRS. ELEANOR L. STANTON
Mrs. Eleanor Louise Stanton, 82, a San Diego county teacher from 1897 to
1941, died Saturday at her home, 225 Walnut Ave.
Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. tomorrow in Greenwood Mortuary
with burial in Greenwood Memorial Park.
From 1928 to 1941 she taught lip reading for the San Diego High School
Adult program.
She was a member of San Diego Chapter of the Daughters of the American
Revolution, Ziac Rowing Club and First Church of Christ Scientist.

GEORGE BERNARD
Poway -- Services for George Bernard, 65, of 13803 Temple St., will be at
1 p.m. Friday at Bonham Brothers Mortuary, with burial in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Mr. Bernard, a retired landscaper and bartender, who was born in Old Town,
San Diego, died Monday at his home.
Surviving are his widow, Beatrice; a daughter, Mrs. Wilma Henderson,
National City, and three brothers, Louis, Clifford and John, of San Diego.

ALVIN M. MCCULLOUGH
Services for Alvin Morse McCullough, 66, of 771 Saphire St., will be at 1

Mr. McCullough, a retired real estate broker, died yesterday at his home.

CHARLES CHASE PIONEER RESIDENT DIES AT AGE OF 73
Charles Chase, who has been a prominent property owner of San Diego and
formerly a druggist here, died last night at his home. Ninth and Date
streets, after an ilness of several weeks. He was 73 years old, and had
lived in San Diego since 1869. Funeral services will be announced later by
the Benbough funeral directors. Surviving the deceased are his widow and
five children: Lewis B., Estelle D., Harland and Sidney Chase and Mrs.
Gertrude McAuliffe.

LINDERMAN MEMORIAL SET FOR TOMORROW
Sevices for retired Navy Lt. Cmdr. Francis M. Linderman, 81, of East San
Diego, will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow in Greenwood Mortuary. Burial will be at
Greenwood Memorial Park.
Cmdr. Linderman was born in Kansas and had been a county resident for 50
years. He died Friday at a hospital.
He ended a 31-year career in the Navy in 1960 and was a member of Masonic
Lodge 657 and the San Diego Scottish Rite Bodies.
Survivors include his wife, Ette; a son, Francis of Lemon Grove; a
daughter, Shirley Crawford of San Diego; five grandchildren; and a
great-grandchild.
The family suggested donations to the American Cancer Society.

ROBERT J. READ
Services for Robert J. Read, 67, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Greenwood
Mortuary. Burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Park.
Mr. Read, an Old Town resident, died Sunday in a hospital.
He was born in Minnesota and had lived in the county 24 years. He was a
carpenter for 48 years and a member of the Carpenters Local 1571.
Surviving are son, Robert of San Marcos; five daughters, including Gail,
Barbara, Lee Bailey and Roberta Bradbury, all of San Diego; a sister; and
13 grandchildren.

JOSEPH A. HOLDER
Joseph A. Holder, 75, a retired printer, was buried Friday in New Jersey.
He died June 14 in a San Diego hospital.
Am Isreal Mortuary handled arrangements.
Mr. Holder was born in New York City, had lived in San Diego six years and
was a Grantville resident and a member of Tifereth Israel Synagogue. He
worked in New York and Connecticut as a printer for 35 years.
Surviving are his wife, Marion; a daughter, Frances Reichbart of Del
Cerro; and three grandchildren.
The family suggested contributions to the Heart Association or Tifereth
Israel Synagogue.

ROSE A. WALSH
A Mass for Rose A. Walsh, 74, owner of Rose's Beauty Shop in Pacific
Beach, will be said at 2 p.m. tomorrow in St. Brigid's Roman Catholic

Mrs. Welsh, a Pacific Beach resident, died Thrusday in Utah after an
auto-moblie accident.

MRS. MARGARET CAMPBELL

for Mrs. Margaret Campbell, 41, of 3681 Ray St., owner of the Child Care
Registry here. She died Sunday.
Mrs. Campbell, a former Greeley, Colo., school teacher, who held degrees
from Hanover University and Colorado State Teachers College, directed child
care registration here in World War II for the Federal Government, later
for the State and City. She operated a private agency at the time of her
death.
She was a member of San Diego Branch, American Association of University
Women; Phi Mu Sorority and Phi Mu Alumni Association and the San Diego
Institute of Religious Science, and had been active in P.T.A. work here.
Servivors are a son, John S. Campbell, and a brother, Robert C. Galbreath,
of San Diego.

CLARENCE H. BROWN
Private rites for Clarence H. Brown, 75, of 4493 38th St., will be at

Mr. Brown, a retired advertising salesman who moved here six years ago,

Mr. Montelione, who died Wednesday in a hospital, will be entombed in Holy

Mr. Montelione was a machanic. He was a native of Wisconsin and lived in
the county 25 years. He was a member of the Sons of Italy and the House of
Italy in Balboa Park.
A widower, he is survived by two daughters, Mary Ann and Carol J.; a son,
John D. Skworch; three sisters, including Ann Painter and Antoinette
Jerfita; a brother; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Graveside services for Emily Camillo will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday at
El Camino Memorial Park. She died Thursday in a convalescent hospital.
Mrs. Camillo, 79, of 5437 Arizona Ave., La Mesa, was a resident of the
county 52 years.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of San Diego and was active
in the PTA in the Kensington area.

Norma K. Mann, 83, of Santee died Wednesday. She was born in Arkansas and was a homemaker.

Virginia E. Maracin, 84, of El Cajon died Tuesday. She was born in Salem, Ore., and was employed in industrial plating.

Robert G. McCarty, 74, of Spring Hill, Fla., and West Lafayette, Ind., died April 26. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and retired from TRW Ross Gear as a corporate vice president.

Nelson Terrell "Terry" Miles, 89, of El Cajon died April 24. He was born in San Diego and was a dentist. He was a member of the Rotary Club of El Centro and the Elks Lodge of El Centro.

Ernest E. Montgomery, 84, of San Marcos died Tuesday. He was born in San Diego and was a mechanic at University Ford. Mr. Montgomery served in the Navy as a machinist mate during World War II. He was a member of the Golden Gloves.
