Jose Moralez, 93
VISTA - Jose Garcia Moralez, 93, died Tuesday, March 13, 2001, at Scripps Memorial Hospital.
Born March 19, 1907, in Mexico, he lived in Vista for 70 years. He was the retired owner of Jose's Place.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Moralez is survived by his wife of 28 years, Domitila Moralez of Vista; son Pete Moralez of Vista; daughters and son-in-law Sara and Jose Martinez of Oceanside and Lucinda Moralez of Oceanside; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation and viewing is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. with rosary recited from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 18, at Eternal Hills Mortuary Chapel.
A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, March 19, at Eternal Hills Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Pedro Encizo officiating. Burial will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park with Encizo officiating.
Eternal Hills Mortuary is handling arrangements.

McRoy Brooks, 56
VISTA - McRoy Brooks, 56, died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2001, at his home.
Born March 11, 1944, in Mullins, S.C., he lived in Vista for 23 years. He was disabled for the last 20 years.
Mr. Brooks was preceded in death by Mark Brooks and Mary Buchanan.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Shirley A. Brooks of Vista; mother Inez Brooks of Dillon, S.C. son Kenneth Brooks of San Diego; daughters Sherry Patterson, Charlene Brooks and Pamela Penner, all of Vista; brother Murdick Brooks of Dillon, S.C.; sisters Lettazoe Thompson and Joanne Huggins, both of Dillon S.C.; and six grandchildren.
A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 5, at Fallbrook Masonic Cemetery.
Berry-Bell & Hall Fallbrook Mortuary handled arrangements.

Charles Ward, 79
ESCONDIDO - Charles K. Ward, 79, died Saturday, March 10, 2001, at his home.
Born March 24, 1921, in Maud, Okla., he lived in Escondido.
He was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal service for 25 years. He owned a dry cleaners for 10 years and worked as a mortgage banker for six years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific and European theaters.
He was a master mason from AF&AM, Tecumseh Oklahoma Lodge 69.
Mr. Ward is survived by his wife of 59 years, Eileen Ward of Escondido; sons Charles (Skip) Ward of Escondido, Bob Watts of Escondido and Larry Ward of Vancouver, Wash.; brothers John C. Ward of Tecumseh, Okla., and William H. Ward of Cedar Ridge; sister Edith Bodner of Cassville Mo.; grandchildren Carrie Wycoff, Jessica Ward and Kristi Clifton; great-grandchildren Nicholas Turner, Ashley Turner, Savanna Turner, Summer Ward and Kayla Wycoff.
A memorial service was held on 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, at Emmanuel Faith Community Church, building 6 with the Rev. Richard Williams officiating. Inurnment will take place today, March 15, at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery.

Elvin Peggar, 89
ESCONDIDO - Elvin A. Peggar, 86, died Saturday, March 10, 2001.
Born Oct. 16, 1911, in Loman, Minn., he lived in Escondido for 13 years. He had been a steam engineer for California Container Corp.
Mr. Peggar is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law David and Shirley Peggar of Bullhead City, Ariz. and Neil and Valerie Peggar of Olympia, Wash.; daughter Sheila Trosak of Escondido; sisters Hazel Peggar of International Falls, Minn., and Myrtle Stephenson of Portland, Ore.; grandchildren Julie Peggar, Sean and Darcy Demmon, Kathleen and Heather Peggar, Connie Stuart, Susie Lobel, and Matt and Lisa Trosak; and great-grandchildren Tamara and Trenton Lobel, Curtiss and Matthew Trosak, Joshua Stuart and Benjamin Trosak.
Viewing is scheduled for 1 p.m. and funeral at 2 p.m. today, March 15, at McLeod Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Donald Ross, 76
WILDOMAR - Donald Weller Ross, 76, died Tuesday, March 13, 2001, at Inland Valley Regional Medical Center of a heart attack.
Born Dec. 12, 1924, in Dayton, Ohio, he lived in Wildomar for 17 years. He was an automotive tester for rocket engines at Rocketdyne for 31 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received the purple heart.
Mr. Ross is survived by his wife, Marlys Ross, of Wildomar; sons Kenneth Ross of Sedmunds, Wash., Steve Ross of Cantonment, Fla., and Tom Ross of Wildomar; brothers Robert Fleisch of Mesa, Ariz., and Robert Ross of Fairfield, Ohio; and five grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Miller-Jones Sun City. A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, March 17, at Miler-Jones Sun City. Interment will be at Riverside National cemetery in Riverside.

John Ormond, 66
CANYON LAKE - John Ormond, 66, died Tuesday, March 13, 2001, at Inland Valley Regional Medical Center in Wildomar.
Born Aug. 2, 1934, in Dundee, Scotland, he lived in Canyon Lake. He was a self-employed painter. He was a professional soccer player and avid golfer at the West-Ray Golf Club in Los Angeles. He was a member of the Painters Union of Southern California.
Mr. Ormond is survived by his wife Sharon Ormond of Canyon Lake; son Steve Branam of Irvine; daughters Terri Cousineau of Michigan, Jackie Ormond of Las Vegas and Debbie Prause of Michigan; sisters Jeannette Duncan, Christine Grey and Nancy Grey, all of Scotland; and brothers Bill Grey and George Grey, both of Scotland.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. today at Miller-Jones Mortuary Inc.

Robert Johnson Jr., 42
LAS VEGAS - Robert Clay Johnson Jr., 42, died Nov. 10, 2000, at his home.
Born May 28, 1958, in Torrance, he lived in Las Vegas for five years and Murrieta for 12 years. He worked for 20 years as a multi tradesman for Centigrade Inc. and enjoyed restoring cars, fishing and softball.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Jennifer and Ryan Cole of Murrieta; daughter Lisa Marie Johnson of Murrieta; Christopher Johnson of Murrieta; parents Robert and Linda Johnson Sr., of Vista; mother Beverly Johnson of Las Vegas; sisters Julie Acevedo of Vista, Donna Harrison, Patricia Brooks and Elizabeth Campbell all of Las Vegas; brother and sister-in-law Donald and Jana Johnson of Murrieta; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, March 17, at Valley Funeral Home. Burial will be at Laurel cemetery in Murrieta.

Nadine Price, 88
ESCONDIDO - Nadine D. Price, 88, died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at Palomar Hospital.
She was born Dec. 26, 1912, in Santa Ana. Her last position was as bookkeeper at the Murrieta Hot Springs Resort and Spa. She was a member of the Palomar Memorial Hospital Auxiliary where she donated more than 2,500 hours of service. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Survivors include many friends. No services are planned.
Accu-Care Cremation Center is handling arrangements.

LeRoy D. Besler
LeRoy was born on Nov. 13, 1934, in Farley, Iowa. He passed away on March 11, 2001, at Loma Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene (Denlinger) Besler of Murrieta; his four children, Debbie Bosma (Andrew) of Murrieta, Shelly Molyneux (Jacques) of Murrieta, Rhonda Garbisch (Dan) Perry of Georgia, Lee Besler (Denise) of Trabuco Canyon; his six grandchildren, Nicole Sherman, Austin Bosma, Kyle and Ryan Garbisch, Jean Paul and Cameron Molyneux; his mother, Lorraine Besler,
of Dubuque, Iowa; two brothers and one sister, Robert Besler of Elgin, Ill., Dr. Gerald Besler of Dubuque, Iowa, and Cathy Fens (Besler) of Elgin, Ill.; and 24 nieces and nephews.
LeRoy was raised in Iowa and moved his young family to California in 1962. He worked in the aerospace industry for more than 35 years before retiring from Northrup in 1995. He was a man of great strength and generosity. He will be remembered for his deep devotion to his family. All who loved him will dearly miss him.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 17, at Rose Hills Cemetery, Whittier, in the Memorial Chapel.

Mariella Busenburg, 95

FALLBROOK - Mariella Busenburg, 95, died Monday, March 12, 2001, of heart failure.
Born July 12, 1905, in Holtville, she lived in Fallbrook for 65 years. She was a member of Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star Chapter in Fallbrook, Fallbrook Camera Club, Fallbrook Smooth Dancers and helped the Red Cross.
Mrs. Busenburg was preceded in death by her husband of more than 50 years, Milo O. Busenburg, in April, 1975, and grandson Scott Eddy in 1989. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Barbara B. and Ernest Earl Eddy of Los Osos; brother and sister-in-law Sam and Louise Webb of San Diego; grandchildren Steven Grant Eddy and Teresa S. Eddy; great-grandchildren Nathan M. Finch, Sage M. Finch, Jacob Eddy Finch, Thomas Eddy, David Eddy, Tim Eddy and Tyler Eddy.
A memorial service by the family will be held in Los Osos at a later date. Her cremains will be scattered in Los Osos.

Eugene Tompane, 89

CARLSBAD - Eugene F. Tompane, 89, died Monday, March 12, 2001.
He was born on March 22, 1911, in Trenton, N.J. He established the first independent New York Stock Exchange brokerage firm, Lee, Ficks and Tompane which later became Dean Witter. He established Investment Advisor Service. He became investment vice president for Phoenix Title and Trust, which was acquired by Transamerica. He was senior vice president for investments for United Bank until his retirement. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Coast Guard as captain on anti-submarine patrol in the North Atlantic. He was captain of the port at Greenport, LI, N.Y. He established the first noncoastal U.S. Coast Guard Reserve Unit and was often awarded the Coast Guard Reserve top ranking. He retired as commander from the U.S. Coast Guard reserves in 1971. He served on Vestry of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral and St. Augustine Episcopal, Tempe.
Mr. Tompane is survived by his wife, Mary Beth Tompane; sons Michael Tompane of Santa Barbara, Donald Tompane of Escondido, Rick Tompane and John Tompane, both of Los Altos; four grandchildren; brother Albert B. Tompane of Haverford, Pa.; and three nieces.
A memorial service and scattering of ashes on a Coast Guard cutter will take place on March 24.
The family suggests memorial donations to TROA Scholarship Fund, Dept. 889, Alexandria, VA 22334-0889.

Edward Macomber Jr., 46

POWAY - Edward M. Macomber Jr., 46, died Monday, March 12, 2001, in San Diego Hospice of brain cancer.
Born Nov. 20, 1954, in San Angelo, Texas, he lived in Poway for 12 years. He worked for Logic Innovation Inc. as a computer hardware design engineer and served in the U.S. Navy for six years.
Mr. Macomber is survived by his wife of 20 years, Sandi Macomber of Poway; mother Rita Macomber and father Ed Macomber, both of Austin, Texas; son Mike Macomber of Poway; daughter Christy Leahy of Omaha, Neb.; sister Nancy MacCabe of Austin; and grandchildren Brendan Leahy and Mira Dennison.
No services are planned.
The family suggests memorial donations to Robert Hale Music Scholarship Trust, 13766 McKenzie Ave., Poway, CA 92064.

Margaret Burchett, 80

FALLBROOK - Margaret Irene Burchett, 80, died Tuesday, March 13, 2001, at Palomar Hospital in Escondido.
Born May 2, 1920, in Iowa, she lived in Fallbrook for 60 years. She worked for Fallbrook High School for 20 years.
Mrs. Burchett is survived by her husband of 61 years, Harold E. Burchett of Fallbrook; sons and daughter-in-law Gary L. and Dawn Burchett of Fallbrook and Gene Burchett of Temecula; brothers Bob Chipp and Verlin Chipp, both of Iowa; sisters-in-law Mildred Alderson of Modesto and Clarabelle Chipp of Fallbrook; sister Verda Crawford of Iowa; grandchildren Greg Burchett, Tashia Cowen, Timeree Kristell, Alisha Fleming and Craig Burchett; and great-grandchildren Kenton and Kailee Kristell, Savanah and Hunter Fleming, Gavin and Seth Burchett and Brenna Cowen.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, March 18, at Presbyterian Church of Fallbrook with the Rev. George Hreha officiating.

ESCONDIDO - Mildred Otis, 94, died Friday, March 16, 2001.
Born Jan. 9, 1907, in Letcher, S.D., she lived in Escondido for 20 years. She was a teacher for Chula Vista School District for 18 years.
Mrs. Otis was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Otis, in 1977. She is survived by son Paul James Otis of San Diego; daughter Joan Graff of Escondido; 13 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
Rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, March 18, at St. Timothy's Catholic Church with the Rev. Jim Rafferty officiating. A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, March 19, at St. Timothy's Catholic Church with Rafferty officiating. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at Holy Cross cemetery in San Diego.
