Alfred Regenburg, 85
ESCONDIDO - Alfred James Regenburg, 85, died Monday, March 5, 2001, at VA Medical Center in San Diego.
Born May 20, 1915, in Palatine, Ill., he lived in Escondido for 32 years. He worked as a vice president of Beneficial Insurance Group for 25 years. He served in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1946.
Mr. Regenburg was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth A. Regenburg on Dec. 12, 1989. He is survived by daughters and son-in-law Catherine Simons of Costa Mesa, and Lynn R. and David L. Tagge of Escondido; sister Ruth Anderson of Elgin, Ill.; and grandson Christopher D. Tagge of San Carlos.
A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. today, March 8, at Alhiser-Comer Mortuary. A private burial will take place at Oak Hill Memorial Park with the Rev. John Tastad officiating.
Crespin Perez, 80
ESCONDIDO - Crespin J. Perez, 80, died Sunday, March 4, 2001.
Born Oct. 25, 1920, in Junction City, Kan., he lived in Escondido for 80 years. He retired in 1982 as a warehouseman at Camp Pendleton. He served in the U.S. Army, 28th Infantry Division during World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star medal.
He was a member of the American Legion and Joselyn Center.
Mr. Perez was preceded in death by his wife, Catalina Perez in 1992; daughter Ophelia Canalez in 1989; Joe Perez in 1985; Mary Ann Acost in 1975; and Mary Maria Silva.
He is survived by sons Paul Perez of Escondido, Rudy Perez of San Marcos, Robert Brieno and George Brieno, both of Escondido; daughters Sophie Grocholski of Yuma, Ariz., Teresa Vargas, Alice Vargas and Josie Perez, all of Escondido, and Helen Salazar of Lakeside; brother Manual Perez of El Paso, Texas; sisters Celia Perez, Aurora Hernandez and Lucia Perez, all of El Paso, Texas; 31 grandchildren; and 40 great-grandchildren.
Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, at McLeod Mortuary Chapel.
A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will follow at noon at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

LAKE SAN MARCOS - Carl L. Gant, 84, died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at Green Hospital of Scripps Clinic.
Born Oct. 9, 1916, in Illinois, he lived in Lake San Marcos for nine years.
He was self-employed and retired in 1988.
Mr. Gant is survived by his wife of 61 years, C. Violet (Bea) Gant of Lake San Marcos; son and daughter-in-law Fred W. and Cara Gant of Phoenix; daughter and son-in-law Carol L. and Robert Rice of Grants Pass, Ore.; and grandchildren Karen and Stephen Rice and Lori and Ryan Gant.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. today, March 9, at Lake San Marcos Recreation Center with Lee Fruechte officiating. Interment service will be at First Methodist Church in Phoenix at a later date.

VISTA - Clara Walcher, 88, died Monday, March 5, 2001.
Born Sept. 8, 1912, in Clinton, Wash., she lived in Vista for 30 years. She retired from Assemblies of God in 1990 and was active in the Women's Missionary Council.
Mrs. Dinkins was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. ³PC² Walcher in 1990, her father Peter Becker in 1945 and mother Gertrude Becker in 1965. She is survived by her husband, Dean Dinkins of Vista; daughter and son-in-law Peggy and Keith Cain of Oceanside; sister and brother-in-law Henrietta and Jose Franco of Seattle; grandchildren Greg and Dale Cain; and great-grandchildren Gregory Cain Jr. and Matthew Cain.
Visitation is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, March 9, at Eternal Hills Mortuary Chapel. A funeral service is scheduled at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 10, at Vista Assembly of God with the Revs. Steve Myatt and M. Kallevig officiating. OCEANSIDE - Velma June Claspill 89, died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, in her home of heart failure.
Born Aug. 25, 1911, near Kelso, Wash., she lived in Oceanside for 28 years.
She graduated from high school in Scappoose, Ore., in 1930, and Sweet's Business College in Santa Rosa in 1932.
She worked for Remington-Rand Co. in Santa Rosa. She co-owned with her husband a photography business in Fresno for 30 years.
She was a member of Christian and Missionary Alliance Church.
Mrs. Claspill was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Carl Claspill, on Oct. 24, 1991; infant son in 1935; and sister Melba Boyd Raub in 1990.
She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Donald Roger and Lois Evers Claspill of Redding, John Robert and Shelly Wass Claspill of Mariposa; daughter Carol Ann Davis of Oceanside; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Memorial services were held Feb. 18, at Trico Mobile Home Park in Oceanside and Feb. 25, at the Neighborhood Church of Redding.

Douglas Tyler, 50
VALLEY CENTER - Douglas ³Doug² Tyler, 50, died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at his home.
Born Feb. 3, 1950, in Sioux City, Iowa, he lived in Valley Center for five years.
He worked for 25 years as a roofer and recently for Collier-Norwood Roofing, Inc.
Mr. Tyler was preceded in death by his father, Paul Tyler. He is survived by his mother Lois Creed of Escondido; daughters Sara Ann Tyler and Cindy Marie Tyler, both of Valley Center; brothers and sisters-in-law Dan Paul and Kathy Tyler of Valley Center and Joe and Debbie Creed of Escondido; sister and brother-in-law Lisa and Greg Mahan of Brentwood; nieces Katy and Shannon Tyler and nephews Joseph and Timothy Creed.

ESCONDIDO - John F. Langdeau, 49, died Wednesday, March 7, 2001.
Born Nov. 19, 1951, in Waterbury, Conn., he lived in Escondido for 11 years. He was a printer for A&L Litho.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
He played acoustic guitar for a local band called ³The Difference² and loved woodworking and music.
Mr. Langdeau is survived by his wife of nine years, Holli Langdeau of Escondido; mother Dorothy Langdeau of Wolcott, Conn.; sons Wesley and Jack of Escondido; daughter Lillie of Escondido; brothers Richard, David, William, Robert, Raymond, Steven and Thomas, all of Wolcott; and sister Jeannine Williams of Wolcott.
A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 10, at Resurrection Catholic Church. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

VALLEY CENTER - Darvin Peters, 72, died Friday, March 2, 2001.
Born Dec. 30, 1928, in Delmont, S.D., he lived in Valley Center for one month and was previously from Escondido for 35 years. He worked for the city of Escondido as director of finance for 35 years.
Mr. Peters is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Darvin Jr. and Angela Peters; daughters and son-in-law Darcy Peters of Escondido and Denette and Mike Stewart of Valley Center; sister Holly Knox of South Dakota; and five grandchildren.
No services will be held at the request of the deceased.

Born April 9, 1936, in Illinois, he lived in San Marcos for 12 years. He retired as owner of Coast Plants in 1985. He was a past member of the Elks Lodge.
Mr. Barr is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law Warren Lee Barr of El Cajon and David and Allison Barr of North Carolina; brothers Craig Barr of San Marcos, Don Barr of Palm Springs and Kenneth Barr of Escondido; sister Betty Holth of Nevada; and grandchildren Nigel Barr and Cameron Barr.

BARSTOW - Robert R. Goodrich, 96, died Thursday, March 1, 2001, of natural causes.
Born April 22, 1904, in Dexter, Mo., he lived in Barstow for four years and was previously of Encinitas.
He retired in April 1969, from General Telephone. He attended Harvard and graduated from St. Louis University.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
Mr. Goodrich was preceded in death by his wife, Muriel Marie Goodrich, on Nov. 5, 1996. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law John Richard and Flo Goodrich of San Dimas; daughters and son-in-law Stephanie and Steve Hoffmann of Oceanside and Jacqueline ³Cookie² Boughton of Laverne; and sister-in-law Sally Herbert of Laverne; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Born Feb. 2, 1919, in Sugarland, Texas, she lived in Murrieta for six years and was previously from Escondido for 26 years. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Gibson is survived by her husband of 47 years, Ezra Gibson of Murrieta; sons Lee Powers of Desert Springs and Sam Powers of Ontario; daughter Melba Haran of Murrieta; brother John Hoot of Texas; sisters Ellis Lilly and Levenia Morris, both of Texas; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Mrs. Yount was preceded in death by her husband, William Yount in 1988.
She is survived by son and daughter-in-law Glenn and Judy Weiss of Oceanside; stepdaughter Jeanette Balloue of Oceanside; nephew Gilbert and wife Esther Ortega of Arizona; and grandchildren Ryan and Kevin Weiss, Deborah Lingren, Gina Winkler, James Balloue and Tony Balloue.
