FALLBROOK - Martin J. Verboom, 40, died Friday, March 2, 2001.
Born Oct. 12, 1960, in Bellflower, he lived in Fallbrook for 34 years. He worked for Best Soil.
Mr. Verboom is survived by his wife of two years, Karen Krebs, of Fallbrook; mother Patricia Isherwood of Fallbrook; father Martin Verboom of Pala; daughter Katherine Verboom of Santa Cruz; brothers Terry Verboom of Wildomar and Mike Verboom of Fallbrook; sisters and brother-in-law Danell Matlock of Fallbrook and Amanda and Eric Toth of Medford, Mass.
No services will be held at the request of the deceased. A private cremation is planned.

Barbara Frysinger, 55
WILDOMAR - Barbara Kay Frysinger, 55, died Friday, March 2, 2001, at her home of cancer.
Born Nov. 25, 1945, in Columbus, Ohio, she lived in Wildomar for five years. She was a flight attendant for American Airlines for 34 years. She enjoyed collecting antiques and was an antique dealer.
Mrs. Frysinger was preceded in death by her mother, Eleanor Frysinger, and father, Charles Frysinger. She is survived by brothers Bill Frysinger of Florida, and Jack Frysinger of Del Rey, Fla.; and sisters Pat Kandola of Aguanga and Connie Masters of Columbus, Ohio.
A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. today, March 6, at Miller-Jones Mortuary Inc.

Wesley J. Marshall, 78
Wesley J. Marshall, 78, a former resident of Lake Elsinore died Sunday, March 7, 2001, of lung cancer at his Oakridge, Ore. home. Mr. Marshall was a captain on the police force for the city of Lake Elsinore in the 60s, then went into general contracting.
He is survived by his wife, Florence, former city clerk for the city of Lake Elsinore; son Roy Lee of Alaska; daughter Terry Lynn Marshall of Utah; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Private services are planned.
Robert Prescott, 75
OCEANSIDE - Robert Richard Prescott, 75, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at Tri-City Medical Center of heart complications.
Born July 2, 1925, in Stillwater, Minn., he lived in Oceanside for 43 years. He was the owner of Electronic Discount Center of Oceanside for 30 years and retired in 1995. He served two years in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of Carlsbad Community Church.
Mr. Prescott was preceded in death by his brother Richard J. Prescott in 1999 and mother Regina Doran Bonse in 1997. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Virgina May Prescott of Oceanside; father Robert Prescott of Maplewood, Minn.; sons and daughter-in-law Mark and Debbie Prescott of Oceanside and Steve Prescott of Oceanside; Daughter and son-in-law Kathi and Kevin Van Der Linden of Plainview, Texas; sister and brother-in-law Mary Ellen and Tom Langenberger of Roseville, Minn; and grandchildren Emily, Sarah, Christina and Mary Van Der Linden and Julie and Mark Prescott.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 5, at Carlsbad Community Church with the Rev. Maxwell Vague officiating.
Ethel Lawson, 86
POWAY - Ethel C. Lawson, 86, died Sunday, March 4, 2001.
Born Aug. 19, 1914, in Eaton, Colo., she lived in Poway for 33 years. She was a homemaker and a member of Lutheran Church of Women at Lutheran Church of Incarnation in Poway and a teacher at the Sunday school.
Mr. Lawson is survived by her husband of 59 years, Las Lawson of Poway; daughters Carolyn Swelland of Ramona, Fondal Hall of Los Angeles, and Doris Nixon of Ramona; one brother; seven sisters; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, March 9, at Lutheran Church of the Incarnation with the Rev. Margie Olson officiating. A private burial will take place.

SAN DIEGO - Grace Margaret Pembleton, 73, died Friday, March 2, 2001, at Villa Monte Vista in Poway.
Born Jan. 27, 1928, in Buffalo, N.Y., she lived in San Diego County for 24 years. She was employed as a home caregiver.
Mrs. Pembleton was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Pembleton, son David Pembleton and daughter Linda Despars. She is survived by sons John Pembleton of San Pedro and Charles Pembleton of Germany; daughter Christine Merchant of San Diego; brothers Thomas O'Connor of Florida and New York and Arthur
O'Connor of New York; sisters Elizabeth O'Connor of New York and Cecelia Baltz of Florida; and five grandchildren.

ESCONDIDO - Bill S. Franklin, born in Illinois and a long time resident of Escondido, died Friday, Feb. 12, 2001.
Mr. Franklin was a retired lieutenant commander from the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II and the Korean War.

Robert Helms, 58
SAN MARCOS - Robert Gage Helms, 58, died Saturday, March 3, 2001, at his home.
Born April 8, 1942, in Hicksville, Ohio, he lived in San Marcos for 28 years. He was a self-employed pharmacist for 16 years. He served in the U.S. Navy Reserve.
Mr. Helms is survived by his wife, Linda Helms of Oceanside; mother Mabel Lombardo of Carlisle, Pa.; sons and daughter-in-law Robert G. Jr. and Jill Helms of San Marcos and Andrew Helms of Oceanside; brother Dr. James Helms of Fallbrook; stepbrother Mark Lombardo of Germantown, Tenn.; and stepsister Michele Lombardo of Germantown.

OCEANSIDE - John Arthur Mayberry, 73, died Friday, March 2, 2001, at Tri-City Medical Center.
Born Oct. 16, 1927, in Pennsylvania, he lived in Oceanside for 12 years.
He was the vice president of Kansas City Power and Light for 20 years. He served in the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Mayberry is survived by his sons, John B. Mayberry of Oceanside; David R. Mayberry of Woodbury, Minn., and Thomas O. Mayberry of Stafford, Va.; brothers Russell Mayberry of Colorado and Robert Mayberry of Cambria; and six grandchildren.

VISTA - Samuel Joseph Nigro, 95, died Saturday, March 3, 2001, at Pleasant Care of Vista.
Born Dec. 3, 1905, in Chicago, he lived in Vista for 22 years. He was a physician for 50 years. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, the American Medical Association, International College of Surgeons and Knights of Columbus.
Dr. Nigro is survived by his wife, Paulinda Nigro of Vista; sons Carl J. Nigro of Vista, Paul Nigro of Walnut Creek and Stephen Nigro of Naperville Ill.; daughter Annette Nigro of Joliet, Ill.; and five grandchildren.
A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, March 9, at St. Francis Catholic Church with the Rev. Vincent Hughes officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Cross cemetery in San Diego.

Bernard Jensen, 92
ESCONDIDO - Bernard Jensen 92, died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001, at his home.
Born March 25, 1908, in Stockton, he lived in Escondido. He was a chiropractor for more than 70 years.
He is considered to be the founder of the science and practice of iridology (the study of the iris as a diagnostic tool) in this country.
Mr. Jensen was preceded in death by his first wife of two years, Grace; his second wife of 15 years, Elsie and his daughter Louise. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Marie Jensen of Escondido; sons David, Arthur, James, Robert and Phillip; 20 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
A private cremation is planned.

RANCHO BERNARDO - Jane B. McCoy, 90, died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2001, in Chardon, Ohio of natural causes.
Born Oct. 1, 1910, in Seattle, Wash., she lived in Rancho Bernardo for 28 years. She had recently moved to Chardon, Ohio.
She was a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist in Rancho Bernardo/Poway.
Mrs. McCoy was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas D. McCoy on Aug. 4, 1989 and daughter Elizabeth M. Faught.
She is survived by daughters and son-in-law Sally and Jim Jordy of Cleveland, Ohio and Susan McCoy of Orange; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A private cremation with inurnment on Feb. 20 took place.

Warren Hearn, 79
CARLSBAD - Warren Gleason Hearn, 79, died Sunday, March 4, 2001, in his home.
Born in Terre Haute, Ind., he lived in Carlsbad for 1 3/4 years.
He retired from Santa Monica Malibu School District as a teacher. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Mr. Hearn is survived by his wife of 39 years, Patricia Hearn of Carlsbad; daughters and sons-in-law Phyllis and Clinton Ward of Dolton, Ill., and Lydia and Dexter Constant of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and grandchildren Shane Price of Dublin, Seth Constant and Emily Constant, both of Colorado Springs.

Born July 8, 1937, in Norvelt, Pa., she lived in Oceanside for three years.
She was retired since 1961 from Bell Telephone in Pennsylvania and Richfield Oil Co. in Los Angeles. She was a member of St. Dominics Church in Eagle Rock.
Mrs. Jordan is survived by her husband of 40 years, Edward R. Jordan of Oceanside; daughters and sons-in-law Dr. Jill Jordan and Eric Meyerhofer of Oceanside; Pamela and Scott Blawusch of Oceanside; brother and sister-in-law Donald and Vera Sompel of Greensburg, Pa.; sisters and brother-in-law Joyce Stevey of Greensburg, Pa., and Mary Louise and Charles Pointz of Charlotte, N.C.; and grandchild Calla Avalon Blawusch.
