Stanley Ziegler, 85
FALLBROOK - Stanley Ziegler, 85, died Saturday, March 4, 2000, in Murrieta.
Born July 6, 1914, in Glen Ellen, Ill., he lived in Fallbrook for 31 years. He was a self-employed tracking camera engineer and a member of Fallbrook Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Ziegler was preceded in death by his son, Stanley Bruck Ziegler, in 1969. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary L. Ziegler of Fallbrook; daughter Susan L. Coker of Vista; brother Darwin Ziegler of Santa Monica; and grandchildren Eric Van Slyke, Aaron Huish, Bonnie Coker and Jennifer Coker.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 10, at Fallbrook Presbyterian Church.

Betty MacDonald, 83
ESCONDIDO - Betty Jean MacDonald, 83, died Saturday, March 4, 2000, in Escondido.
Born May 14, 1917, in Parma, Ohio, she lived in Escondido for four years and in Carlsbad for 34 years.. She was a self-employed florist for 28 years, the owner of Flowers Express Love.
Mrs. MacDonald was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley E. MacDonald, in 1986. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Stanley R. and Renate MacDonald of Plattsmouth, Neb.; daughter and son-in-law Juli and Don Gary of Escondido; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 10, at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

Harold Hultin, 73
SAN MARCOS - Harold J. Hultin, 73, died Friday, March 3, 2000, at his home.
Born April 23, 1926, in St. Paul, Minn., he lived in San Marcos for eight years. He was a minister for the Salvation Army for 43 years. He earned a bachelor of science degree from Minot State Teachers College, University of Minnesota and the Salvation Army College for Officers Training in Chicago. He was a commissioned officer and an ordained minister. He served in the U.S. Navy as an ensign during World War II.
Mr. Hultin is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marguerite Hultin of San Marcos; daughters Nancy Mowers of Flint, Mich., Sue Hultin and Sharon Bailey, both of Oceanside, Peggy Crowe of Kansas City, Mo., and Carol Hultin of Imperial Beach; grandchildren David, Jennifer, Michael and Kristina Mowers, Aaron Rashad and his wife, Terri, Alicia Hultin, Rebekah and Kimberly Crowe, Rachel, Kendra, Johnny Bailey; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 11, at the Salvation Army in Oceanside, with Lieutenant Brian West officiating. Burial will take place at sea off the coast of San Diego County, with full military honors.

John Grisell, 87
OCEANSIDE - John A. Grisell, 87, died Sunday, March 5, 2000, at Vista Knoll Convalescent.
Born Jan. 31, 1913, in Arkansas, he lived in Oceanside for 12 years. He was a civilian carpenter in Vietnam and a locksmith. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Tri Cities Chapter 95, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6945, North San Diego County Genealogy Society and Jay County IN Historical Society.
Mr. Grisell is survived by his wife, Lucille Grisell; daughters Eliza Ruth Mathews of San Marcos and Martha Ann Wade of Honolulu; sister Mary Ellen Thornburgh of Monroe, Mich.; grandchildren Margaret Ocobock of Escondido, Colleen Pereira of Tulare and Wesley Nason of Olathe, Kan.; and five great-grandchildren.
A private cremation is planned. Interment will take place at a later date at Twin Hill IOOF cemetery in Pennville, Ind.

SAN DIEGO - Margaret Watson Tucker, 82, died Monday, March 6, 2000, in San Diego.
Born June 20, 1917, in San Diego, she previously lived in Fallbrook and was a San Diego County resident for 34 years. She was a homemaker and a member of the Jr. League of San Diego.
Mrs. Tucker was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin E. "Tommy" Tucker, in 1994. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Michael E. and Deanna Tucker of Fallbrook; daughter and son-in-law Judy and Gene Gilbert of San Diego; and grandchildren Matthew Tucker, Malia Gilbert and Jason Gilbert.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Inurnment will take place at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery.

VISTA - Harry William Hanson, 80, died Friday, March 3, 2000, in Oceanside.
Born March 3, 1920, in Berthoud, Colo. he lived in Vista for 13 years. He was a teacher at the Orange Unified School District for 32 years.
Mr. Hanson is survived by his wife, Ruth I. Hanson of Vista; stepsons Eric T. Liebe of Phoenix, Ariz., and Brian E. Liebe of Vista; stepdaughters Maria Alana Ross of Laguna Niguel, Sylvia T. Propes and Barbara K. Cropp, both of Long Beach, and Louise Kuhnert of Irvine; brother Edwin Hanson of Denver; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 8, at First Lutheran Church of Vista; A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Steve Awbrey officiating. Interment will take place at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Fort Collins, Colo.

Mrs. Cunningham is survived by her husband of 50 years, Kenneth E. Cunningham of Vista; son Kenneth S. Cunningham of Vista; daughters Marsha May of Los Osos, Sandra Shidner and Laura Cunningham, both of Vista; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

VALLEY CENTER - Wilford Paul Johnston, 61, died Sunday, March 5, 2000, of cancer, at his home.
Born Oct. 30, 1938, in Bakersfield, he lived in Valley Center for 20 years. He was the owner/manager of Fluidtech Products and served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1979.
Mr. Johnston is survived by his wife of 38 years, Mary Johnston of Valley Center; son Todd W. Johnston of Escondido; daughter Pamela G. Stanley of Valley Center; and grandchildren Bryon Paul Stanley and Brianna Gail Stanley.

VISTA - Josephine Ellen Henson, 96, died Sunday, March 5, 2000, in Fallbrook.
Born July 27, 1903, in Okmulgee, Okla., she lived in Vista for four years. She was a bookkeeper for 50 years and a member of the Presbyterian Church in Wickenburg, Ariz. She was Past Matron of Order of the Eastern Star in Buena Park and a Rainbow Girls volunteer in Buena Park.
Mrs. Henson was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Malloy Henson, in 1987. She is survived by her son, James Curtis Henson of Sun City, Ariz.; daughter Joanna Scofield of Fallbrook; brother Ted Curtis of Lake Elsinore; sister Virginia Phelps of Washington; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Inurnment will take place at Holy Cross cemetery in Phoenix. A private cremation is planned.

VISTA - Reiko Watanabe Pandavela, 65, died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, from pneumonia, at Tri-City Medical Center.
Born Aug. 23, 1934, in Migazaki Ken, Japan, she lived in Vista for more than 35 years. She was a homemaker and a member of SGI-USA, a Buddhist organization.
Mrs. Pandavela was preceded in death by her husband, James Pandavela, on Jan. 28, 2000. She is survived by many friends.
A memorial service was held Saturday, March 4, at SGI San Marcos Community Center. Burial will take place at a later date at sea.

Born Nov. 12, 1915, in Pennsylvania, he lived in Escondido. He was an insurance salesman and served in the U.S. Army. He was a member and past treasurer of Escondido Lawn Bowlers club.
Mr. Reid is survived by his wife, Janet Reid of Escondido; son Larry Reid of Oakland; daughter Barbara Reid of San Diego; and sister Mabel Krantz of Escondido.
