Leo Savoie, 79

ESCONDIDO - Leo Savoie, 79, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, in Escondido.

Born March 8, 1920, in Ottowa, Canada, he lived in Escondido for 12 years. He worked for General Motors for 45 years, retiring in 1985. He was a staff sergeant in the U.S. military during World War II, serving as an interpreter under General Patton.

Mr. Savoie was preceded in death by his son, Michael Savoie; brothers Jim and Henry Savoie; and sister Lucille Christner. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Joyce Savoie of Escondido; son James L. Savoie of Troy, Mich.; stepsons Gary DeRosa and Kenneth DeRosa; stepdaughter Francine Kerns; brother Gerald Savoie of Drayton Plains, Mich.; sister Simone Hawkins of Tucson, Ariz.; and grandchildren Brian, Levi, Cody and Joseph Savoie; and several nephews and nieces.

No service will be held in Escondido at the request of the deceased. A private family service will take place in Troy, Mich.

The family suggests memorial donations to St. Jude for Children, 205 W. Monroe St., Chicago, IL 60606; Scripps Anderson Bldg. Treatment Rooms, 10666 N. Torrey Pines road, La Jolla, CA 92037; or the San Diego Blood Bank, 440 Upas St., San Diego, CA 92109.

Albert Wallace, 81
ESCONDIDO - Albert Glenn Wallace, 81, died Thursday, March 2, 2000, in Escondido.

Born Oct. 5, 1918, in Berwick, Pa., he lived in Escondido for 42 years. He was a pilot for Bank of American for 16 years and served in the U.S. Navy for 21 years.

Mr. Wallace is survived by his wife of 57 years, Bettye C. Wallace of Escondido; son Albert Glenn Wallace Jr. of Escondido; daughter Sue Shipp of Macon, Ga.; brother Ken Wallace of San Diego; sister Pauline Boon of Florida; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A private interment is planned.

Judy Taylor, 80

VISTA - Judy Mary Taylor, 80, died Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at a local convalescent center.

Born Dec. 24, 1919, in Coventry, R.I., she lived in Vista for 48 years. She was an accountant working the last five years for Eckert Home Builders and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Ms. Taylor is survived by her brother, John Taylor of Covina; and niece Maria Taylor.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 6, at Allen Brothers Mortuary, Vista Chapel. A private interment will follow at Riverside National Cemetery.

Helen Leyshon, 97

RAMONA - Helen Claire Leyshon, 97, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at her home.

Born Aug. 13, 1902, in Salt Lake City, Utah, she lived in Ramona since 1964. She worked for Hertels department store in Pasadena and was a volunteer at Ramona Senior Center and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Mrs. Leyshon was preceded in death by her husband, Baxter Leyshon; three brothers; and one sister. She is survived by her daughters, Jody L. Harris of Ramona and Judy L. Hamilton of Orem, Utah; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Family viewing was held Thursday, March 2, at Bonham Bros. & Lee Ramona Mortuary. A funeral service will be held at Berg Funeral Home in Provo, Utah. Burial will take place at Pleasant Grove cemetery in Pleasant Grove, Utah, where she will be buried next to her late husband.

Theresa Roberts, 69

VALLEY CENTER - Theresa P. Roberts, 69, died Thursday, March 2, 2000, at Beverly Manor Convalescent Hospital, of a cancer.

Born Feb. 19, 1930, in St. Jean, Quebec, she lived in Valley Center for one year. She was the owner/operator of Hilltop Cacti Inc. in Vista from 1970 to 1995.

Mrs. Roberts was preceded in death by her son, Michael Poulin, on Aug. 15, 1981. She is survived by her husband of 17 years, Lewis F. Roberts of Vista; daughters and sons-in-law Lu Ann and Antonio Ramos of Vista and Ellen and Randy Roberts of Jackson, Wyo.; brothers Andree Belanger and Jean Belanger, both of St. Jean; sisters Jacqueline Landouceur, Irene Poulin and Pierrette Benjamin, all of St. Jean; and stepgrandchildren Jennifer Ramos and Christifer Ramos, both of Vista.

The family suggests memorial donations to the American Cancer Society, 800 Escondido Ave., Vista, CA 92084.

William Trowbridge, 76

PAUMA VALLEY - William P. Trowbridge, 76, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, in Escondido.

Born Nov. 16, 1923, in San Francisco, he lived in Pauma Valley for 18 years. He was the manager for Owens Illinois Inc., a glass manufacturing company for 36 years and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Mr. Trowbridge is survived by his wife of 55 years, Judith Trowbridge of Pauma Valley; sons Randall Trowbridge of Indiana and Bradley Trowbridge of Florida; brother Thomas Trowbridge of Pasadena; sister Margaret Horsfall of Walnut Creek; and three grandchildren.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. A private cremation is planned.

Madelyn Spisak, 85

CARDIFF - Madelyn Spisak, 85, died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, of heart failure, at Scripps Hospital in Encinitas.

Born Sept. 14, 1914, in Shakopee Minn., she lived in Cardiff for 28 years and in North County for 63 years. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Spisak is survived by her husband of 28 years, Joseph S. Spisak; son Brooks Tregoe of Encinitas; sisters Bernice Grettenberg and Anne Textor of Coon Rapids, Iowa; grandchildren Lesli Cloutier and Sam Tregoe, both of Cardiff; and great-granddaughter Annabelle Cloutier of Cardiff.

John Fahy, 68

CARLSBAD - John Joseph Fahy Jr., 68, died Thursday, March 2, 2000, at his home.

Born April 17, 1931, in Chicago, he lived in Carlsbad. He served in the U.S. military in France, Turkey and Vietnam for 21 years.

Mr. Fahy is survived by his wife, Janine Fahy of Carlsbad; son John M. Fahy of Crockett; daughters Jacqueline Hardy of Littleton, Colo., and Jane Brodie of Billings, Mont.; brothers Edward Fahy of Sun City, Ariz., and Tom Fahy of Chicago; and five grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 6, at Encinitas Mortuary. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 7, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Carlsbad. Burial will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

Bernice Riddell, 73

VISTA - Bernice Julia Riddell, 73, died Thursday, March 2, 2000, at Tri-City Medical Center.

Born Sept. 3, 1923, in Pittsburgh, she lived in Vista for 25 years. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Riddell is survived by her husband of 41 years, William J. Riddell of Vista; and son William J. Riddell Jr. of San Diego.

No formal service is scheduled. A private cremation is planned.

June Woolsey, 82

RANCHO BERNARDO - June Woolsey, 82, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2000, at Pomerado Hospital.

Born June 20, 1917, in Minnesota, she lived in Rancho Bernardo for 16 years. She was a self-employed artist and a member of the Rancho Bernardo Presbyterian Church and Rancho Bernardo Art Club and Oil Painters of America.

Mrs. Woolsey is survived by her husband of 58 years, Ralph Woolsey of Rancho Bernardo; sons James Woolsey of Nevada, Richard Woolsey of Washington and Robert Woolsey of Los Angeles; grandchildren Amanda, Sarah, Loren and Julian; and great-grandchild Cameron.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 6, at Rancho Bernardo Presbyterian Church, with Dr. Don Buteyn officiating. A private cremation is planned.

North County Cremation Service is handling arrangements.

Betty Prindiville, 67

ESCONDIDO - Betty Jean "B.J." Prindiville, 67, died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, at Palomar Medical Center.

Born Sept. 16, 1932, in Santa Ana, she lived in Escondido. She was an electronics assembler before retiring.

Mrs. Prindiville was preceded in death by her husband, George Prindiville, on March 20, 1999. She is survived by her daughters, Candace McAdow of Escondido and Cynthia Gill of Vista; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Clyde Kintz, 73

SAN MARCOS - Clyde Leroy Kintz, 73, died Thursday, March 2, 2000, at his home.

Born Sept. 22, 1926, in Monroe, Iowa, he lived in San Diego County for 40 years. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a gunnery sergeant during World War II and the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was a manager at E. Valley Parkway McDonalds restaurant for 30 years and was involved in the planning of the first playground at McDonalds. He was a part of the Hire a Retiree program.

Mr. Kintz is survived by his wife of 30 years, Alma V. Gauthier of San Marcos; eight children; brother Charles Kintz of Waterloo, Iowa; and numerous grandchildren.

A private family memorial service will be held. A private cremation is planned.

Frank Russo, 82

LAKESIDE - Frank "Rusty" Russo Sr., 82, died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, at Palomar Medical Center.

Born Sept. 30, 1917, in Connecticut, he lived in Lakeside and previously lived in Vista. He worked for the civil service and served in the U.S. Army.

Mr. Russo is survived by his wife of 56 years, Annie Russo of Lakeside; son and daughter-in-law Frank and Claudette Russo Jr. of Ramona; daughter and son-in-law Patricia and Bill Fox of Ramona; sister Jean Constantino of Long Beach; four grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces.

No service will be held at the request of the deceased. A private interment is planned.

Robert Wiegand, 73

COLTON - Robert Joseph Wiegand, 73, died Thursday, March 2, 2000, of cancer, at Reche Canyon Convalescent Hospital.

Born Oct. 8, 1926, in Indianapolis, he lived in Wildomar for 19 years. He was a systems technician for AT&T phone company in Lake Elsinore for 34 years. He served in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1947.

Mr. Wiegand is survived by his wife, Blanche Wiegand in Wildomar; son Thomas Hess of Fontana; brother Henry Wiegand of Long Beach; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, March 7, at Miller-Jones Mortuary & Crematory. A graveside service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. following visitation at Riverside National Cemetery, with the Rev. James Dale officiating.

Alfred Torrisi, 89

HOMELAND - Alfred Torrisi, 89, died Thursday, March 2, 2000, at Ramona Manor Convalescent Hospital in Hemet.

Born Oct. 20, 1910, in Lawrence, Mass., he lived in Homeland for 16 years. He was a postal supervisor for the U.S. Postal Service in Chicago for 32 years and served in the U.S. military during World War II, receiving a Purple Heart. He was a life member of Knights of Columbus for 40 years and a member of St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church for 20 years, serving as usher. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Hemet and was awarded a plaque as honorary citizen of the year in Vista.

Mr. Torrisi is survived by his wife, Bernice Torrisi of Homeland; brother Phil Torrisi of Fort Meyers, Fla.; and sisters Natalie Bologna of Fort Meyers and Ida Cirello of Chicago.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 5, at Miller-Jones Mortuary & Crematory in Sun City. A funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, March 6, at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church, with the Rev. Michael O'Day officiating. Burial will take place at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

The family suggests memorial donations to Vitas Hospice, 4768 Palm Ave., Riverside, CA 92501.

Mika Cross, 54

VISTA - Mika Thieda Cross, 54, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, at Tri-City Medical Center in Oceanside.

Born Nov. 17, 1945, in Detroit, she lived in Vista for 23 years. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Cross is survived by her husband of 23 years, Leigh Cross of Vista; son Colin Dayal Joseph Cross of Vista; daughter Tisra Hillary Fadley of Tennessee; brother Mark Thieda of Vista; and sister Kathryn T. Anselmo of Sacramento.

A reception celebrating Miki's life will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 4. For information, call Mark or Leslie Thieda at (760) 727-3788. A private cremation is planned.
