Florance Daum, 77
RANCHO BERNARDO - Florance M. Daum, 77, died Monday, June 25, 2001, at her home.
Born Aug. 7, 1923, in Craig, Colo., she lived in Rancho Bernardo for 10 years. She had been a homemaker.
Mrs. Daum is survived by her son and daughter-in-law John and Judy Hockley of Escondido; daughters and son-in-law Nancy Mullen of Oceanside and Gale Ann and Joseph Conwell of Washington; brother Robert Daum of Colo.; sister Edith Grant of Springfield, Ill.; eight grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, June 30, at Calvary Chapel of Escondido with the Rev. Pat Kennedy officiating. A private cremation is planned.
Telophase Cremation Society is handling arrangements.

William Horner, 69
DEL MAR - William J. Horner, 69, died Wednesday, June 27, 2001 of A.L.S. (Lou Gehrig's disease).
Born Sept. 10, 1931, in San Pedro, he lived in Del Mar for 27 years. He served in the U.S. Navy as a submariner. He was a staff commodore for the Catalina Island Yacht Club; and a California Highway Senior Volunteer patrol officer.
Mr. Horner was preceded in death by her daughters, Cheryl Muat and Karen Anderson. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Fay Ruth Horner of Del Mar; sons Michael Horner of Fountain Valley and Bill Horner Jr. of Oceanside; daughter Susan Nelson of Irvine; and grandchildren Chris, Shauna, John, Sarah, Michael and Tyler.
A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, at Del Mar Power House Community Center with the Rev. Ted Johnson officiating.
The family suggests memorial donations to the Hospice of the North Coast, 5421 Avenida Encinas, Suite N., Carlsbad, CA 92008.

Gerald Duquette, 66
SAN MARCOS - Gerald Robert Duquette, 66, died Wednesday, June 27, 2001, at Veterans Medical Center in San Diego.
Born Sept. 4, 1934, in Detroit, he lived in Escondido and San Marcos since 1980. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War as a construction equipment operator, retiring in 1960. He retired in 1995, as a director of environmental services at long term health care facilities in North San Diego County.
Mr. Duquette was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Pamela Lynn Campbell Duquette; sons Gerald E. J. and daughters-in-law Sandy Lacanaria; Matthew and Kathy Duquette of Michigan; daughter and son-in-law Marie Noelle and David Smith of Ohio; stepsons and daughters-in-law Dennis and Chris Campbell of Arizona and D'Wayne and Teheresa Campbell of Escondido; brothers Ted, Larry, Jack, Tom, Dave and Mike; sister Mary McGuire; grandsons Dwayne Shane, Blain, Laine Lacanaria, Adam and Chase Smith and Malachi Duquette; granddaughters Mattea and Shawna Duquette; step-grandchildren Carrisa and D'Wayne Campbell; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, June 30, at Hidden Valley Church in Escondido.

Ninette Barker, 57
RAMONA - Marilyn Ninette Martino Barker, 57, died Wednesday, June 27, 2001, at her home.
Born Feb. 2, 1944, in Waterbury, Conn., she lived in Ramona for 24 years. She received a degree from the University of Connecticut in sociology and worked for the Connecticut Department of Social Services in the child protective service in New Haven as a social worker. He was a real estate broker in Ramona and helped in her husband's medical practice for many years. She served on a number of community and school committees and volunteered in the classroom. She served on the board of directors of the Friends of the Ramona Library.
Mrs. Barker is survived by her husband Dr. Michael Barker of Ramona; daughter Alexis Barker of Ramona; sister Rosanne Martino of Middlebury, Conn.; brother and sister-in-law John and Patricia Martino of Reno; nephews John and Matthew Martino; and niece Jamie Martino, all of Reno.
No formal services are planned.
The family suggests memorial donations to the Friends of the Ramona Library, PO Box 843, Ramona, CA 92065.

Charles Treanor, 62
OCEANSIDE - Charles "Scotty" Treanor, 62, died Wednesday, June 27, 2001, at Palomar Medical Center in Escondido.
Born Jan. 11, 1939, in Glasgow, Scotland, he lived in Oceanside for five years. He retired in 1999 from McDonald Douglas Aircraft in Culver City as a machinist and manager. He worked for Century 21 Realty in Oceanside.
All services will take place next week in Dublin, Ireland.

Claude Agasse, 77
OCEANSIDE - Claude Leo Agasse, 77, died Wednesday, June 27, 2001, at Tri-City Medical Center.
Born Aug. 18, 1923, in Iroquois Falls, Ontario, Canada, he lived in Oceanside for 30 years. He retired in 1983 from the Carpenters United Brotherhood as a carpenter. He served in the Canadian Army in Europe as a dispatch rider during World War II. He was a life member of the Oceanside Elks 1561 and a 50-year member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters.
Mr. Agasse is survived by his wife of 36 years, Edna Agasse of Oceanside; sons Jean of Los Angeles and Jackie of Covina; daughter Michelle of Los Angeles; stepdaughter Georgia Critz of Vista; grandchildren John Robert Agasse and Jennifer Ortiz; step-grandchildren Robert Critz and Kari Reoh; two great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, June 30, at Oceanside Elks Lodge with Oceanside Elks Lodge 1561 officiating.
The family suggests memorial donations to diabetes research, at the American Diabetes Association, 225 Broadway, Suite 310, San Diego, CA 92101 or Elks Crippled Children's Fund.

Evelyn Nystuen, 80
SUN CITY - Evelyn Lois Nystuen, 80, died Thursday, June 28, 2001, at Menifee Valley Medical Center.
Born Jan. 30, 1921, in Fortuna, N.D., she lived in Sun City for 10 months and in Perris for six years. She was a member of the Women of the Moose.
Mrs. Nystuen is survived by her husband, Dale E. Nystuen of Sun City; daughters Lois Harrison of Scotts Valley, Mary Harrison of The Dalles, Ore., Mona McCall of Sun City and Maxine DeMerritt of Fremont; son Robert Cartwright of The Dalles; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m., Sunday, July 1, at Evans Brown Mortuary, Sun City Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday, July 2, at Evans Brown Mortuary Sun City Chapel. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at Riverside National Cemetery, staging area 1.
The family suggests memorial donations to the National Kidney Foundation of Southern California, 5777 W. Century Blvd., Suite 1450, Los Angeles, CA 90045.

Mary Stewart, 86
LA GRANDE, Ore. - Mary Elizabeth Stewart, 86, died Tuesday, June 26, 2001.
Born Sept. 16, 1914, in Salt Lake City, she lived in La Grande for six years.
She lived in Poway from 1965 to 1995. She owned Stewart Apparel in Vista from 1962 to 1980.
She was an organist, pianist and choir leader in her church.
Mrs. Stewart was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Quentin T. Stewart, on June 20, 1982.
She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Quentin K. and Barbara Stewart of Houston and James R. and Margie Stewart of San Antonio, Texas; daughters and sons-in-law Marilyn J. Stewart of McLean, Va., Mary J. and Lloyd Royer of La Grande, Jennene K. and Gary Aten of Fairfield and Virginia A. and Charles Alexander of San Diego; 27 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral service is scheduled for noon, Friday, June 29, at the Church of Latter-day Saints in Poway with Bishop Graham Bullick officiating. Interment will follow at Dearborn Memorial park in Poway.

Johnny Chavez, 19
LA JOLLA INDIAN RESERVATION - Johnny James Chavez, 19, died Thursday, June 21, as a result of a car accident near Pala.
Born March 18, 1982, in Escondido, he lived on the La Jolla Indian Reservation.
He was a member of the La Jolla Indians and worked with his father as a landscaper.
Mr. Chavez is survived by his parents, Sergio and Terry Chavez of La Jolla Indian Reservation; fiance and mother of his unborn child, Alma Torres of La Jolla Indian Reservation; brother and sister-in-law Anthony and Pamela Chavez of the Pala Indian Reservation; sisters and brothers-in-law Christina Chavez of the Pala Indian Reservation; Sophia and Thomas Roberts, Melissa and Sandro Garcia and Valeria and Salbador Contreras, all of the La Jolla Indian Reservation; grandparents Jim and Shirley Harris of the La Jolla Indian Reservation; seven uncles; six aunts; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 7 p.m. Friday, June 29, at La Jolla Indian Reservation and Harolds Road.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 30, at La Jolla Indian Reservation and Harolds Road. Interment will follow.

Catherine Caserta, 75
OCEANSIDE - Catherine Mae Caserta, 75, died Tuesday, June 25, 2001, of cancer.
Born July 29, 1926, in Lafayette, Ind., she lived in Oceanside for 15 years.
She retired in 1970 as a vice principal at Nicohlas Junior High School. She was a lecturer and trainer for RCIA and a member of the Italian Catholic Federation, St. Francis Church for 25 years and St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church for four years.
Mrs. Caserta was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Anthony J. Caserta of Oceanside; daughter Jeksie H. Rankin of Oceanside; brother and sister-in-law John and Louise Purner of Johnson City, Tenn.; grandchildren David P. Rankin and Michael C. Rankin; and nephew Frank Purner and wife Judy of Kingsport, Tenn.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 3 p.m. today, June 28, at Eternal Hills Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Doug Regin officiating. A private cremation is planned.
The family suggests memorial donations to the Elizabeth Hospice, 150 W. Crest St., Escondido, CA 92025.

Joan Hage, 64
ESCONDIDO - Joan Nancy Hage, 64, died Saturday, June 23, 2001.
Born Sept. 25, 1936, in Chicago, she lived in Escondido for 27 years.
She had worked at the Miramar military commissary. She had been a fashion model in Chicago and was a member of Department 56 Collector and Pontiac Club. She enjoyed arts and crafts.
Mrs. Hage was preceded in death by her grandson, Ryan Scott Rogers, in July 1982.
She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Richard F. Hage of Escondido; son and daughter-in-law Steven and Becky Kupstis of Tulare, daughters and sons-in-law Valerie and Russell Rogers of Wildomar, Heidi Montgomery of Escondido and Wendy and Brad Adams of Las Vegas; and grandchildren Brandon, Ashley, Terri and Justin.
Viewing was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, at Alhiser-Comer Mortuary.
A funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. today, June 28, at Grace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Jim Young officiating. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at Riverside National Cemetery, staging area 1.

William Moylan, 78
SAN DIEGO - William Richard Moylan, 78, died Tuesday, June 25, 2001.
Born Dec. 13, 1922, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, he lived in San Diego for 31 years.
He retired after 31 years from Mid West Television, Inc. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Moylan is survived by his daughters Laura Murphy, Leigh Moylan and Susan Critts and three grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 29, at El Camino Mortuary.
A funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, June 30, at St. William of York with the Rev. Nick Dempsey officiating. Burial will follow at 11:30 a.m. at El Camino Memorial Park.
The family suggests memorial donations in his memory to the Building Fund of St. William of York, 4343 Del Mar Trails, San Diego, CA 92130.

William Boots, 89
SAN LUIS OBISPO - William Carroll Boots, 89, died Sunday, June 17, 2001.
Born Jan. 20, 1912, in Guthrie Center, Iowa, he moved from Oceanside in 2000.
He retired in 1972 from Pan Am where he was a chief inspector in the engine overhaul department.
He graduated from Cal Poly in 1930, where he studied aeronautical engineering.
He worked in the inspection department and was stationed in Honolulu with the U.S. Navy Reserve during World War II.
He was a member of the Burlingame Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed music and played trumpet in local bands.
Mr. Boots was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Madalene and son Eldridge C. ³Buster² Boots.
He is survived by daughter and son-in-law Carryl Ann and Ronald C. ³Pat² Hall of San Mateo; son and daughter-in-law Jerome V. and Cricket Handler Boots of San Luis Obispo; stepdaughter and husband Shirley Ann and James Lathrop of Hawaii; stepson Gary MacFarland of Oregon; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
No services are planned and cremation has taken place. Interment will be at Mountain View Memorial Park in Tacoma, Wash.
The family suggests memorial donations to the Hospice of San Luis Obispo County.

Dolores Dahl, 81
CAPITOLA - Dolores Dahl, 81, died Monday, June 18, 2001, of natural causes.
Born May 22, 1920, in Sinai, S.D., she lived in Capitola for one year.
She received her teaching credential from Madison Normal College.
She served as a pink lady at Palomar Medical Center in Escondido where she organized and built up the patientıs library.
She was a member of Emmanuel Faith Church in Escondido.
Mrs. Dahl was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley Dahl, on Oct. 23, 1999, and son Garry, in March 1992.
She is survived by son and daughter-in-law Roger and Terry Dahl of Carmel; brothers Donald Myhres of Lee, Ill., and Clyde Myhres of Biloxi, Miss.; sister Inez Tollakson of Minneapolis; grandchildren Dana Juenemann, Andrew Dahl and Carly Dahl; and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Interment will be at Sinai Lutheran Church cemetery in Sinai, S.D.
The family suggests memorial donations to the Parkinsonıs Institute, 1170 Morse Ave., Sunnyvale, CA 94089.
