Dawn Ann Carter, 40
Dawn Ann Carter Kirkness Merideth of Chula Vista passed away on June 14, 2001, at her home.
She was born on Sept. 9, 1960, in East Liverpool, Ohio. She had lived in Vista most of her life and had recently moved to Chula Vista and resided with her husband, Wayne Meredith.
Dawn was preceded in death by her mother, Joe Ann Carter of Sun City and her brother, Jeffrey Lee Carter of Grass Valley.
Dawn is survived by her three daughters, Tasha Kirkness, Jessica Kirkness and Jasmine Velarde of Vista. She is also survived by her father, Paul Carter and grandmother, Hildreth Martin, both of Sun City; three sisters, Shirley Richman, Robin Silva and Amy Velarde; and one brother, Paul Carter.

Alexander Byron Page, 18, of Del Mar died early Saturday morning. He was born in La Jolla and was a student at the University of California at Santa Cruz.
Survivors include his parents Sandra and Richard W. Page of Del Mar, his brother Steven and sister Jessica.
Services are planned for 1 p.m. Thursday, June 21, at the Solana Beach Presbyterian Church.
Alex was a graduate of Torrey Pines High School.
He died early Saturday morning, June 16, in an automobile accident in Solana Beach.
He was a film and photography major at UCSC. His passions were surfing, skateboarding, snowboarding, music and his many caring friends.

Charles Donaldson, 75
SAN MARCOS - Charles Gilbert Donaldson, 75, died Monday, June 18, 2001, at a local hospital.
Born July 21, 1925, in Ticonderoga, N.Y., he lived in San Diego County since 1958. He was a truck driver at Camp Pendleton for 30 years. He served in the U.S. Marines for 11 years during World War II and Korea and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans. He was a member of the Heart of God Ministries Church in Rancho Bernardo.
Mr. Donaldson is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kazuko "Katie" Donaldson of San Marcos; son Charles Donaldson of Dawson, Texas; daughter Carol Caples of Houston, Texas; brother Paul Lindsey of Hudson Falls, N.Y.; sisters Doris Donaldson of Sloansville, N.Y., and Mary Jane Rivett of Queensbury, N.Y.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, June 23, at 1332 Calle Crucero in San Marcos with the Rev. Mark T. McElwee officiating. Burial will be at Fort Rosecrans National cemetery in Point Loma. A private cremation is planned.

FALLBROOK - William G. Jungenberg, 68, died Monday, June 18, 2001, at Palomar Hospital.
Born Jan. 11, 1933, in Kohler, Wis., he lived in Fallbrook for 30 years. He retired in 1990 from the U.S. Navy as a first class petty officer. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and past Grand Knight of Columbus, 4th degree. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Naval Reserve and Boots and Slippers.
Mr. Jungenberg is survived by his wife of 44 years, Carmen Jungenberg of Fallbrook; sons and daughter-in-law Mike Jungenberg of Fallbrook, Jeff Jungenberg of Tigard, Ore., and Tim and Sheri Jungenberg of Simi Valley; brother Robert Jungenberg of Florida, Mickey and Gerry Jungenberg of Redgranite, Wis., and James Jungenberg of Pannama; grandchildren Chris, Jennie, Kellie and Anton.

OCEANSIDE - Gabriel Oceguera Ortiz, 56, died Monday, June 18, 2001, at Tri-City Medical Center of complications from cancer.
Born March 14, 1945, in Michoacan, Mexico, he lived in Oceanside for 34 years. He worked in maintenance with mission restoration at the Mission San Luis Rey for 34 years.
Mr. Ortiz was preceded in death by his mother, Refugio Oceguera Ortiz, in 1999. He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Tina Ortiz of Oceanside; father Jose Ortiz of Oceanside; son and daughter-in-law Gabriel Jr. and Jennifer Ortiz of Albuquerque, N.M.; daughters and sons-in-law Veronica and Joey Betancourt, Lourdes and Hugo Chavez and Brianna Ortiz, all of Oceanside; brothers Jorge Ortiz of Mexico, Manuel Ortiz of Fullerton, Enrique Ortiz of Vista, Benjamin Ortiz of Oceanside, Andres Ortiz of Oceanside and Jose Ortiz of Mexico; sisters Mercedes Ortiz, Elena Ortiz-Linares and Enriqueta Ortiz, all of Mexico; and grandchildren Isabella and Julian Betancourt and Gabriela, Elisabeth and Rachel Ortiz.

Born Oct. 24, 1913, in Douglas, Ariz., she lived in Vista for 70 years. She was a volunteer at the Salvation Army and a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church.

CARLSBAD - Helen M. Hickey, 54, died Monday, June 18, 2001, at her home of cancer.
She was born Aug. 13, 1946, in Connecticut, and lived in Carlsbad for more than 30 years. She was raised in Northwest Iowa by her grandparents. She was a Realtor and owned her own bookkeeping business.
Mrs. Hickey was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Hickey Feb. 20, 1983, and her parents, Everett and Gywnne Morris Brill. She is survived by her son, Christopher Hickey of Florida; and former husband, Chris Streeter of Florida; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A service to honor her life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 22, at Carlsbad Community Church. Her cremains will be returned to the Iowa family farm.

Born Aug. 21, 1927, in Oceanside, he lived in Murrieta for eight years. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and was a member of the Elks Club.
Mr. Madrid was preceded in death by his brothers, Daniel and Mike Madrid. He is survived by his stepdaughter, Tracey; brother and sister-in-law John and Genevieve Madrid; sisters and brothers-in-law Ruth and Charlie Barnhart and Beatrice and Eddie Perez; three grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Rose Miller Keil, 94, died Saturday, June 16, 2001, at Heritage Manor Jewish Home for the aged, of infirmities of old age.
Born Dec. 25, 1906, in Newark, N.J., she lived in Youngstown for three years. She had lived in Oceanside for 24 years.
She graduated from Central High School in Newark and attended the Newark Institute of Arts and Sciences. She won the speed typewriting contest at the New York World's Fair in 1939. She had been an executive secretary and supervisor of communications for Empire Blue Cross Blue Shied of New York for 32 years and retired in 1972. She was a member of Rodef Sholom Temple.
Mrs. Keil was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph S. Keil in 1970, and three sisters. She is survived by her sister, Celia Berkman of Hollywood, Fla.; nephews, Cary F. Yelin and his wife Sora of Youngstown and Sanford Rachmiel of New Port Richie, Fla.; niece Sharon Jones of Warren, N.J.; and grandson Joshua of Cincinnati.
A funeral service was held at noon on Monday, June 18, at Shriver-Allison-Courtley with Rabbi Frank Muller officiating. Interment was at 9 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, at Beth El cemetery in Neptune, N.J.
