Cecil Harper, 81
RAMONA - Cecil L. Harper, 81, died Thursday, June 1, 2000, at Eisenhower Memorial Hospital in Rancho Mirage.
Born Nov. 20, 1918, in New Sharon, Iowa, he lived in Ramona for many years. He served in the U.S Army Air Corps during World War II. He was an aviation instructor and a B25 pilot in Italy. He retired from the Air Force as a major with senior pilot's wings and an Air Force Commendation Medal, in 1962. He served as aerospace program manager from 1962 to 1971 and owned Cecil Harper & Associates, a consulting firm to the naval electronics laboratory and was communications engineer for the county of San Diego. He was the owner of GasMat gas station in Poway. He built, owned and operated Quick Service Gas in Ramona and was a member of the San Vicente Golf Club, serving as tournament chairman for five years. He supported the boys and girls Club in Ramona.
Mr. Harper is survived by his wife of 57 years, Billie Harper of Ramona; son Gary Harper of Ramona; sister Audrey Vann of Florida; and grandchildren Matthew, John and Billie Jo Harper.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 8, at the First Congregational Church of Ramona. a private military service will take place at Fort Rosecrans National cemetery in Point Loma.
The family suggests memorial donations to the American Heart Association, 225 Broadway, Suite 310, San Diego, CA 92101; or the Boys & Girls Club of Ramona, PO Box 1915, Ramona, CA 92065.

Robert Dempsey, 41
FALLBROOK - Robert "Bob" Dempsey, 41, died Wednesday, May 3, 2000, at his home.
Born Jan. 23, 1959, in California, he lived in Fallbrook.
Mr. Dempsey was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Patrick Dempsey. He is survived by his wife, Sandra J. Dempsey of Fallbrook; mother Dorothy E. Dempsey of San Diego; and brothers Ralph Patrick Dempsey Jr. of Poway and John Watson Dempsey of San Diego.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 10, at Old Poway Park.
The family suggests memorial donations to the Center for Reproduction of Endangered Species at the San Diego Wild Animal Park, 15500 San Pasqual Valley Road, Escondido, CA 92027-7017.

Gordon Gaugel, 90
OCEANSIDE - Gordon M. Gaugel, 90, died Thursday, June 1, 2000, in Oceanside.
Born May 26, 1910, in New York, he lived in Oceanside for 27 years. He was retired from Kodak Film.
Mr. Gaugel is survived by his wife of 63 years, Agnes Gaugel of Oceanside; Sons Michael and Barbara Gaugel of New York, and Dennis and Yuli Gaugel of Indonesia; daughters and son-in-law Kay and Carroll Melkerson of Westminster; Theresa and Steve Slater of Georgia, and Linda Gaugel of Los Angeles; sister Agnes Waskey of New York; and 7 grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, June 6 at 1 p.m. at Mission San Luis Rey.
Eternal Hills Mortuary is handling the arrangements.

George Sorensen, 94
VISTA - George Kenneth Sorensen, 94, died Sunday, June 4, 2000, in Vista.
Born September 22, 1905 in Tooele, Utah, he lived in Vista for 22 years. He owned Ken Sorensen's Top Shop in Pasadena for 57 years.
Mr. Sorensen is survived by his wife, Margaret F. Sorensen; son Barry Sorensen of Irvine; daughters Geraldine Romero of Vista, and Marilyn Sleeper of Colorado; 7 grandchildren,14 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren.
No formal services are planned. There will be a private cremation with the cremains scattered at sea.

Hubert Creamer, 71
SAN MARCOS - Hubert Edward Creamer, 71, died Monday, June 5, 2000, at his daughter's home.
Born September 8, 1928, in Tampa Florida, he lived in San Marcos for one year. He was a distributor for Hiram Walker for 35 years. Me served in the Army Air Force from 1946 to 1949 and then served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1950 to 1959. He was a Corporal during the Korean War, and was also a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Moose Lodge all in Inglewood.
Mr. Creamer is survived by his sons Michael Creamer, Hugh Creamer and Brian Creamer, all of Redondo Beach; daughters Michele Creamer Beard of Lakewood and Therese Creamer Brungardt of San Marcos; and 6 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 8, 2000, at Allen Brothers Mortuary, San Marcos Chapel. A private cremation and interment will take place.
The family suggests memorial donations to The Palm House, 2515 Jefferson Street, Carson, CA 90810.

Mildred Cook, 90
HOT SPRINGS, ARK. - Mildred M. Cook, 90, died Saturday, May 27, in Hot Springs, Ark. Born June 6, 1909 in Los Angeles, she was a resident of Escondido for 51 years before moving to Hot Springs in 1974. She was a homemaker and member of Grace Bible Fellowship Church in Hot Springs, Ark.
Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton B. Cook. She is survived by her sons, Albert C. Cook of Howard, Colo. and Gordon E. Cook of Lapine, Ore.; daughter Carolyn M. Kauffman of Hot Springs, Ark.; 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
There will be a graveside service at 10 a.m. Friday, June 9, 2000, at Oak Hill Memorial Park in Escondido. The Rev. Richard Williams of Emmanuel Faith Community Church will preside.
The family suggests memorial donations to Grace Bible Fellowship Church, 1005 Richard, Hot Springs, Ark., 71913.

William Burch, 76
CARLSBAD - William Edward Burch, 76, died Saturday, June 3, 2000, at Tri-City Hospital in Oceanside.
Born July 10, 1923 in Redondo Beach he was a resident of Carlsbad for five months and formerly of Redondo Beach. He was a naval veteran of WW II, he was the president of WEB Vocational Consultants and was a pioneer in the field of vocational rehabilitation.
Mr. Burch is survived by his wife, Mary M. Burch of Carlsbad; daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Gary Lockwood of Littleton, Colo., Kathleen and Oscar Abad of Oceanside; sons and daughters-in-law, William and Lindsay Burch of Encinitas, Paul and Roberta Burch of Grants Pass, Ore., and James A. Burch of Perry, Ga., brothers Tom Burch of Torrance, Dick Burch of Fallbrook, sisters Phyllis Ennis of Santa Rosa, Irene Embrey, Marcella Williams, and Evelyn Staff all of Torrance, and 12 grandchildren.
A memorial Mass is scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday, June 8, at St. John's Catholic Church, 1001 Encinitas Blvd., Encinitas. A cremation and private inurnment is scheduled to be held at Ft. Rosecrans National cemetery in San Diego.

Thelma Vail, 85
RANCHO BERNARDO - Thelma Mays Vail, 85, died Saturday, June 3, 2000, at her home.
Born Aug. 9, 1914, in Peck, Mich., she was a resident of Rancho Bernardo for 12 years. She retired in 1981, from Walt Disney Productions.
Mrs. Vail was preceded in death by husbands John Mays and Frank Vail, twin sister, Velma Lord, and brother, Lloyd McAllister. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Arthur and Dorothy McAllister of Escondido; sister-in-law, Rita McAllister of Peck, Mich., many nephews and nieces including Pat Bennett of Peck, Mich., and Jean O'Morrow of Sandusky, Mich.
Memorial services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, June 8, at Rancho Bernardo Community Presbyterian Church.
The family suggests memorial donations to the Rancho Bernardo Community Presbyterian Church, 17010 Pomerado Rd., San Diego, CA 92128; or Horizon Hospice, 13053 Poway Rd., Suite-A, Poway, CA 92064.

Yolanda Leone, 83
CARLSBAD - Yolanda Caroline Leone, 83, died Wednesday, May 17, 2000, at a hospital in La Jolla.
Born Sept. 27, 1916, in New York City she was a resident of Carlsbad for 8 years. She was a registered nurse for over 40 years.
Ms. Leone is survived by her sisters, Lucy Esbin of Encinitas and Sarah Ucci of Carlsbad and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial Mass is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, June 9, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Carlsbad. A private cremation was held with inurnment in St. Raymond's Cemetery, Bronx, N.Y.
Encinitas Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Marjorie Demmer, 81
VISTA - Marjorie E. Demmer, 81, died Thursday, May 18, 2000 in Vista.
Born Aug. 27, 1918, in Baxter Springs, Kan., after retiring she moved to Vista where she has resided for the last 20 years.
Mrs. Demmer was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Demmer in 1980. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, David and Joanne Demmer of Vista, Dennis and Karen Demmer of Sacramento, Vince and Pam Demmer of Santa Fe, N. M.; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and John Gaines of El Segundo; sister Betty Walthers of Sun City; brother, Wayne Hogue of Napa; brother and sister-in-law, Don and Nona Hogue of Nev.; and grandchildren, Scot, Katy, Melanie, Anne, Joey, Elizabeth Demmer and Becky, Bobby and Ben Gaines.
A memorial Mass is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, July 8, at St. Joseph's Church, Fontana.

Kenneth Walton, 58
ESCONDIDO - Kenneth N. Walton, 58, died Sunday, June 4, 2000, at his home in Harmony Grove of cancer.
Born April 17, 1942, in Tulsa, Okla., he was a resident of Escondido for 50 years. He was an electric trouble man for San Diego Gas and Electric working for the company for 35 years. He was a member of the Del Sur Kennel Club and raised German shorthaired pointers. He trained dogs for home companions and obedience competition.
Mr. Walton is survived by his wife of 28 years, Jean Ann Walton; son Ronald Ray Walton of Mono County; son and daughter-in-law, Joseph A. Tucker and Danielle Nelson of Portland, Ore.; daughter Brinda D. Walton of Escondido, daughter and son-in-law Vonda L. and Gary D. Lee of Overland Park, Kan.; grandchildren David, Trenton, Elizabeth and Travis.
A private cremation and scattering is scheduled.
The family suggests memorial donations to Kaiser Hospice, Cancer Research, 10992 San Diego Mission Rd., Suite 3601, San Diego, CA 92108.

Guadalupe Villasenor, 89
OCEANSIDE - Guadalupe Villasenor, 89, died Friday, June 2, 2000, at her home of natural causes.
Born May 30, 1911, in Lluvia de Oro, Chihauhau, Mexico, she was a resident of Oceanside. She was a business woman for 35 years and retired in 1970.
Mrs. Villasenor was preceded in death by her husband, Salvador Villasenor in 1988 and son Joseph in 1948. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law Victor and Barbara B. Villasenor of Oceanside; daughters Marie Mullias of Reno, Nev., and Terasita V. Aganza of Carlsbad, daughter and son-in-law Linda and Joe Colombo of Oregon; 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 8 with rosary recited at 7 p.m. at Eternal Hills Mortuary, 1999 El Camino Real, Oceanside. A Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, June 9, at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church in Oceanside (Ditmar and Pier View Way). Burial will follow at Eternal Hills Mortuary.

Norbert Rasp, 84
RAINBOW - Norbert J. Rasp, 84, died Monday, June 5, 2000, at his home.
Born Sept. 4, 1915, in Los Angeles, he lived in Rainbow for 22 years. He was a retired rancher.
Mr. Rasp is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marilynn E. Rasp of Rainbow; sons Richard A. Rasp of Belmopan, Belize, Stephen N. Rasp of Temecula, Frederick Rasp of Rainbow, Alan J. Rasp of Rainbow and William S. Rasp of Rainbow and grandchildren Sherri L. Rasp, Christine, William J., Scott, Trevor, Kathryn A., Emanuel, Joseph and Marilynn.
No services are scheduled.

Charles Henry Miller, 88
TEMECULA - Charles Henry Miller, 88, died of leukemia on June 2, 2000, at his home.
Born Jan. 25, 1912, in Nome, Texas, he lived in Temecula for one year.
He worked in the ministry for 50 years. The last church he served, as minister of visitation, was Glad Tidings Assembly in Hanford. He was the recipient of a 50-year ministry award, was a fan of baseball - particularly the St. Louis Cardinals - and enjoyed fishing.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Russell Butterworth of Temecula; son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Roberta Miller of Bakersfield; grandchildren David Miller, Jim Miller, Scott Butterworth and Amy Ramos; and great-grandchildren Zachary Miller and Megan Miller.
He was predeceased by his wife, Nila Miller, and his grandson, Steven Butterworth.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 10, 2000, at Temecula Cemetery.

Louis Bratten, 89
VISTA - Louis Neal Bratten, 89, died Tuesday, May 23, 2000.
Born Dec. 19, 1910, in Victor, Mont., he was a resident of Vista for 25 years. He was retired from the Army Corp of Engineers of the Los Angeles District after 33 years of employment.
Mr. Bratten is survived by his wife of 31 years, Violet M. Bratten of Vista.
A memorial is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, June 10, at Rosicrucian Fellowship. A private cremation is planned.

Thelma Berry, 83
FALLBROOK - Thelma Louella Berry, 83, died Monday, June 5, 2000, at Life Care Center in Escondido.
Born Sept. 4, 1916, in Auburn, N.Y. she was a resident of Fallbrook for 28 years. She was a nursing home care giver for 25 years. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church.
Ms. Berry is survived by her sons Ron Berry of Fallbrook, Richard Berry of Canoga Park and Rodney Berry of Portola; brother Laverne Blowers of Owasco, N.Y.; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorial services are scheduled for 3 p.m. today, at Berry-Bell & Hall Fallbrook Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Edward Renner, associate pastor of St. John's Episcopal Church officiating. A private burial will be held at a later time.
