VIEJAS INDIAN RESERVATION - Phyllis A. Paroli, 65, died Monday, July 17, 2000, at a local hospital.
Born Nov. 2, 1934, in Riverside, she lived in Santa Ysabel for many years. She was a homemaker and a member of the Santa Ysabel Band of Mission Indians and of the Santa Ysabel Indian Mission.
Mrs. Paroli is survived by her son, Rick Dizon of San Diego; daughter Doreen TeSam of Viejas; brother Donald Vigneault of San Diego; sisters Caroline LePage of Minnesota and Muriel Hillihan of Hayward; and two grandchildren.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday, July 21, at Bonham Bros. & Lee Ramona Chapel. A Mass will be celebrated Saturday, July 22, at Santa Ysabel Indian Mission, with a committal service and burial following at the Santa Ysabel Indian Cemetery.

RANCHO PENASQUITOS - Timothy Paul Leppink, 30, died Monday, July 17, 2000, at his home.
Born May 26, 1970, in Demming, N.M., he lived in Rancho Penasquitos and had lived in Ramona. He worked for Kentucky Fried Chicken in Ramona and graduated in 1988 from Ramona High School. He worked for the Wild Animal Park while attending college and graduated in 1996 from UCSD. He was taking graduate work at San Diego State and worked as a software engineer for Document Services in Carlsbad for five years. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church of Ramona.
Mr. Leppink is survived by his mother and father Karen and Paul Leppink of Ramona; and sisters Linette Perez, Suzanne Litzenberg and Bernadette Hendrickson, all of Ramona.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, July 21, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Nuevo Memory Gardens in Ramona.

SAN MARCOS - Doreen Beversluis, 51, died Saturday, July 15, 2000, at her home.
Born July 24, 1948, in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, England, she lived in San Marcos for 10 years. She worked for ESI of Escondido and attended Valley Bible Church in San Marcos.
Mrs. Beversluis was preceded in death by her father, William Strut, in 1977. She is survived by her husband, Robert T. Beversluis of San Marcos; mother Isabella Strut of Edlington, England; sons William Beversluis and Thomas Beversluis, both of San Marcos; daughter Estelle Hood of Hove, East Sussex, England; and sister Eileen Peech of Kings Lynn, Norfolk, England.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, July 20, at Palomar Christian Church in San Marcos, with the Rev. Bill Farrel officiating.

ESCONDIDO - Margaret J. Wayland, 71, died Wednesday, July 12, 2000.
Born Aug. 8, 1928, in Louisville, Ky., she lived in Escondido since 1989. She was a sales manager at Bingham Willamette Pump Co. in Portland for 15 years and volunteered as a pink lady at Palomar Medical Center.
Mrs. Wayland is survived by her companion of 30 years, David Mitchell of Escondido; son John Lucas of San Francisco; daughter Kimberly Lucas of Los Angeles; sisters Lillian McNay and Dorothy Taylor, both of Louisville, and Laura Jessup of Santee; and friend Marie Lucas.
A private cremation was held and cremains will be scattered in the hills of Oregon.

Born Jan. 8, 1918, in Eldora, Iowa, she lived in Escondido for 20 years. She was a homemaker and a member of Vista Valley Country Club.
Mrs. Shostrom is survived by her husband of 11 years, Wayne Shostrom of Escondido; daughter Sherry Freeburn of Escondido; son and daughter-in-law Brandon and Kim Lawrence of Walnut Creek; brothers and sisters-in-law Detmer and Marjorie Bonner of Aurora, Colo., and Dick and Carol Blom of Oceanside; and grandchildren Andrew Freeburn of Escondido and Casey Lawrence and Trevor Lawrence, both of Walnut Creek.

Born Oct. 22, 1937, in Durango, Mexico, he lived in San Diego for 13 years, He worked in construction for Kaiser Refactories.

ESCONDIDO - Earl Philipoteaux, 95, died Tuesday, July 18, 2000, in Escondido.
Born Aug. 3, 1904, in Washington, he lived in Escondido for 22 years. He worked for Reinell Boat before retiring in 1967. He was a member of the Neighborhood Church, Full Gospel Businessmen's Association and the First Baptist Church of Everett, Wash.
Mr. Philipoteaux was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra Le Beau, on Jan. 26. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Florence Philipoteaux of Escondido; daughter and son-in-law Roxanne and Allen Summers of Sunriver, Ore.; sister Gladys Thaanum of Des Moines, Iowa, grandchildren Kim Willison, Mark, Greg and Shauna Gilbert, Geoff Summers and Kris Hylton; and great-grandchildren Zachary and Alex Gilbert, Tyler Willison and Jessica Burns.

Mr. Fitzgerald is survived by his wife, Bethany L. Fitzgerald of Carlsbad; son Keagan J. Fitzgerald of Carlsbad; mother and father Victoria and James Fitzgerald of Poway; sisters Paige Fitzgerald and Jessica Fitzgerald, both of Poway; and several aunts and uncles.

FALLBROOK - Warren L. Myers, 85, died Friday, June 16, 2000, in Fallbrook.
Born June 1, 1914, in Miller, Mo., he lived in Fallbrook for 16 years. He graduated from UC Irvine Medical School and practiced medicine in Compton beginning in 1943 and in Los Angeles and Orange counties before retiring after 40 years. He was a member of Kiwanis, the American Medical Association and the Orange County Medical Association.
Dr. Myers is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ruby Myers of Fallbrook; daughters Pam Houseman of Ontario and Rita Walters of Hemet; brother Willis Myers of Mariposa; and one grandchild.
A graveside service was held Friday, June 23, at Downey cemetery in Downey. Burial followed.

Mrs. Stephenson was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Stephenson, in February 1970. She is survived by her son, James Stephenson of Guntersville, Ala.; daughter Sue Stephenson O'Neill of Escondido; sisters Magdlin of Escondido and Elanor Westagard of Idaho; 19 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

CARSON CITY, Nev. - John Ward, 82, died Sunday, July 16, 2000.
Born July 4, 1918, in Beacons Field, Iowa, he lived in Carson City. He was a logistics specialist for General Dynamics for 46 years before retiring and served in the U.S. Navy and Air Force. He was a member of the Catholic Church and a volunteer with Little League.
Mr. Ward was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Virginia Mae Hennessey Ward, on June 6, 1999. He is survived by his daughters Pamela Marshall of Charleston, S.C., and Patricia Hughes of Poway; sons John Ward II of Escondido, Edward Ward and Terrance Ward, both of Poway, and Thomas Ward of Thousand Oaks; sisters Ann Winter of Upland and Monica Badgley of Carson City; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was a nurse at Tri-City Medical Center before retiring and served as a 2nd lieutenant in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps from 1943 to 1945. She was a member of the First Baptist church of Oceanside for 40 years and of the Christian Women's Club.
Mrs. Dixon was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Jordan H. Dixon. She is survived by her son, Harrol Lee Dixon of Fullerton; daughter Marilyn Anne Dixon Lafaro of Bermuda Dunes; sister Margaret Muir of Tulsa, Okla.; grandchildren Brian Dixon, Scott Dixon and Nicholas Lafaro; and great-grandchildren Erica, Will, Jacob and Anna Grace Dixon.
