Emily Welsh, 85
RAMONA - Emily L. Welsh, 85, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, at a local convalescent hospital.
Born Feb. 15, 1915, in Ellwood City, Pa., she lived in Ramona for 38 years. She was an active member of the Ramona Senior Center and played bingo there since its inception. She was also a member of the Ramona Woman's Club, the Garden Club, the Ramona First Congregational Church and the Ramona Terrace Estates Clubhouse.
Mrs. Welsh was preceded in death by son Gene Welsh, in 1995. She is survived by her husband of almost 67 years, Charles E. Welsh of Ramona; sons and daughters-in-law Roy Edwin and Mildred Welsh of Piemont, Ala., David C. and Sonja Welsh of Rancho Bernardo; sister Katherine Allen of Ellwood City, Pa., 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m., Friday, Feb. 2, at the Bonham Bros & Lee Ramona Chapel with the Rev. Alex Dreese, pastor of her church, officiating. Graveside services will follow at Nuevo Memory Gardens. Refreshments will follow at the Ramona Terrace Estates Clubhouse.
The family suggests memorial donations to the First Congregational Church, P.O. Box 248, Ramona, CA 92065 or to the Ramona Senior Center, P.O. Box 657, Ramona, CA 92065.

Penny East, 42
FALLBROOK - Penny Louise East, 42, died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001.
Born Nov. 20 , 1958, in Los Angeles, she lived in Fallbrook for 17 years. She was employed as an at-home care giver for 10 years. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter- day Saints, 2nd ward, Fallbrook.
Mrs. East is survived by her mother Beverly J. Hill of Fallbrook; father Ronald A. East of Ramona; sons Eric L. Purdum of Malad, Idaho, Jeremy Purdum of Twin Falls, Idaho and Shane A. Baker of Fallbrook; grandfather Lloyd East of Hemet; brothers Lonnie East of Nye, Mont., and Regan East of Arizona; sisters Lori East of Los Angeles and Darlene Coughlin of Newton, N.H.
A memorial service is scheduled for 3 p.m. today, Jan. 30, at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints, Fallbrook with Bishop Clark G. Moffat officiating. Interment is scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 19, at Fallbrook Masonic Cemetery. There will be a private cremation.
The family suggests memorial donations to Joslyn Center, 339 Heald Lane, Fallbrook, CA 92028.

Joseph Kono, 80
VISTA - Joseph S. Kono, 80, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, at his home.
Born Nov. 10, 1920, he lived in Vista for 26 years. He was retired from Kono Landscaping where he was the owner.
Mr. Kono is survived by his wife of 46 years, Ingrid Kono of Vista; son Chester Kono of Vista; brother and sister-in-law Irlis and Robert Wolfe of Seattle; brother and sister-in-law Tom and Irene Kono of Gardena and grandchildren Lauren and Erika Wolfe of Seattle.
Services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, at Vista Buddhist Temple, with the Rev. Lee Rosenthal officiating. There will be a private cremation.
Eternal Hills Mortuary is handling arrangements.

Joanne Green, 76
SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO - Joanne E. W. Green, 76, died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001.
Born Jan. 27, 1924, in Malone, N.Y., she lived in San Juan Capistrano for one year and previously lived in Escondido. She was a legal processing clerk.
Mrs. Green is survived by her son Christopher Green of Dana Point.
An inurnment will take place at a later date at Morningside Cemetery in Malone, N.Y.

Silvio O. Vozza, 53
ESCONDIDO - Silvio O. Vozza, 53, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, in San Diego.
Born June 19, 1947, in Italy, he lived in Escondido for 16 years. He was a barber for 10 years.
Mr. Vozza is survived by brother Giuseppe Vozza of San Diego.
A viewing was scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 29, at Alhiser Comer Mortuary. There will be a private cremation.

Edwin Watts, 54
ENCINITAS - Edwin "Butch" Watts, 54, died Monday, Jan. 22, 2001, at Scripps Hospital in La Jolla of heart failure.
Born April 6, 1946, in San Diego, he lived in Encinitas for 32 years and was formerly of Escondido. He worked for Encinitas Cafe for 16 years. He graduated from Ramona High School in 1964 and served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Constellation from 1965 to 1967. He served in the Navy Reserves from 1967 to 1969.
Mr. Watts is survived by his wife of 32 years, Donna Watts of Encinitas; son Ryan Watts of Encinitas; daughters Dena Watts , Michelle Watts and Melissa Watts all of Encinitas; sister Wanda Napolitano of Escondido and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial services is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in Point Loma. A private cremation is planned.

Mark S. Dovel Sr., 42
SUN CITY - Mark S. Dovel Sr., 42, died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, at his parents' home in Sun City after a long battle with cancer.
Born in Columbus, Ohio, he lived in Crest. He was a writer. He graduated from Poway High School, and was a lieutenant with Poway Sheriff Explorer program .
He formed the model railroad club in Poway Village and was enrolled in the Climb program at Shadow Mountain Community Church with 16 months to go to earn a business management degree. He was an aircraft electrical system specialist from 1976 to 1982.
He served in the U.S. Navy as an aircraft electronics and electrical system specialist 1982 to 1985. He was in the United States Air Force, 9th Strategic Reconnaissance Wing, Beale Air Force working on the SR-71 (Blackbird).
He was a federal special agent from 1985 to 1990, participated in protective service operations to include protection of former President Ronald Reagan. Assigned to a joint federal task force for two years and a merchandise recovery manager for STOR Furnishings International in Torrance. He produced several written papers.
Mr. Dovel is survived by his parents, Ray and Carol Dovel of Sun City; brother Matthew Dovel of Las Vegas, son Mark Dovel Jr., of Mission Beach; daughter Holly Dovel of Rancho Bernardo and niece Brittanie Dovel of Anchorage, Alaska.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, at Shadow Mountain Community Church in El Cajon.
Memorial donations may be made in Mr. Dovel's memory to Trinity Hospice, 28125 Bradly Road, Sun City, CA 92586.

Carolyn Wade
TEMECULA - Carolyn Wade, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001, at her home of breast cancer.
Born Dec. 4, in Cooper, Texas, she lived in Temecula for 10 years. She retired from Reliance Metal in Los Angeles. She was a member of Temecula United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Wade is survived by her husband of 34 years, Don Wade of Temecula; mother Marie Waldo of Temecula; sons Mitchell Wade of Los Angeles, Christopher Wade of San Francisco and David Wade of Shirley, Ark.; daughters Peri Walton of Oceanside and Wendy Pettersen of Columbia, Mo.; sisters Ethlene Owen of Orange and Sara Spratford of Escondido and six grandchildren.
Visitation was held from 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 30, and a funeral is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. today, Jan. 31, at Stout Family Funeral Home. Interment will be at 11:45 a.m. follow at Temecula Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial donations to American Cancer Society, c/o Breast Cancer Research only, 1240 Palmyrita Ave., Suite A, Riverside, CA 92509.

Ellsworth Herrell, 74
SACRAMENTO - Ellsworth Markwood Herrell, 74, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, after a short illness.
Born May 27, 1926, in Paw Paw, W. Va., he lived in Sacramento for three years. He was a retired deputy city engineer for the city of Oceanside. Mr. Herrell severed in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Mr. Herrell is survived by his wife of 45 years, Connie Herrell of Sacramento; daughters and sons-in-law Pamela Diane and John W. McKee and Cynthia Ann and Bruce T. Bellows and sister and brother-in-law Doris and Ralph Noland.
A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, at First United Methodist Church in Sacramento with the Rev. Larry George officiating. An entombment is scheduled for today, Jan. 31, at Sunset Lawn Memorial Park in Sacramento.
The family suggests memorial donations to Ellsworth Herrell Memorial Fund, c/o First United Methodist Church, 2100 J. St., Sacramento, CA 95814.

Linda Agee, 43
BLACKFOOT, Idaho - Linda Kaye Agee, 43, died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at the Latter-day Saints Hospital in Salt Lake City.
Born May, 3, 1957, at the Carswel Air Force Base in Forth Worth, Texas, she lived in Blackfoot, Idaho for five years. She worked at Basic American Foods. She attended elementary school in Fort Worth, and junior high and high school in Southern California. She enjoyed hugs, kisses, music, dancing, camping and her family and friends.
Ms. Agree is survived by sons Matthew Kicks of Oceanside, Brent Andrew Hicks of Escondido and Stephen Michael Agree of Blackfoot; mother Janice Bistodeau of Vista; father Martin Agree Jr., and wife Jean of Forth Worth; sisters and brother-in-law Janice Marie Weaver of Vista, twin sister Brenda Maye and Jim Kelly of Blackfoot and Porter and Carol Lynn Bistodeau of Blackfoot; brother and sister-in-law Martin Agee, III and wife Judy Agee of Idaho Falls, Idaho; nieces Emily Dawn Porter and Chanel Bistodeau both of Blackfoot; nephew Timothy Brian Lockhart of Escondido; many aunts, uncles and cousins in Texas, her fiance, Mike Stoddart of Blackfoot and his children, Bobbi Jo Stoddart of Boise, Beau James Stoddart and Shandie Rae Stoddart, both of Blackfoot.
Memorial services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, at the Hawker, Hill Funeral Home. Visitation is scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight, Jan. 31, and one hour prior to services Thursday, at the Funeral Home.

Anthony Mohr, 91
ESCONDIDO - Anthony Mohr, 91, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001.
Born Feb. 27, 1909, in Cambridge, Mass., he lived in Escondido for 30 years. He was a trustee for Chicago Moody Bible Institute in Chicago for 18 years. He was the co-owner of Crystal Manufacturing for 36 years and a member of Emmanuel Faith Community Church.
Mr. Mohr is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Mohr, of Escondido; sister Lynne Jordan of Deerfield Ill; sister-in-law Kathryn Mix of Bernardo Heights; brother-in-law Alexander Mix of Bernardo Heights; four nieces and five nephews.
A graveside service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations to Emmanuel Faith Community Church World Impact, 639 E. Felicita, Escondido, CA 92025.

James Felton, 70
VISTA - James Joseph Felton, 70, died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at Tri City Medical Centre.
Born Feb. 14, 1930, in Rockville Center, N.Y., he lived in Vista for 41 years. He was a business teacher at Palomar Community College for 30 years.
Mr. Felton was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Agnes Felton. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Rosemarie A. Felton, of Vista; sons and daughters-in-law Michael J. and Robin Felton of Hayden Lake, Idaho and James J. and Jane Felton of Fallbrook; daughters and sons-in-law Susan M. and Bruce Orton of Escondido, Mary Ellen and Bill Dineen of Vista and Elizabeth R. and Darin Whitt of Napa; brother and sister-in-law Joseph P. and Mabes Felton of Gaithersburg, Md.; sister Ann Carine of Georgia and 11 grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from 5 to 9 p.m. with rosary recited at 7 tonight, Jan. 31, at Allen Brothers Mortuary, Vista Chapel. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Vista with the Rev. Peter M. McGuine of St. Thomas More Church officiating. A private interment is planned at San Marcos Cemetery.

Robinson Thomas, 77
ESCONDIDO - Robinson B. Thomas, 77, died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at a local hospital.
Born March 28, 1923, in Pocatello, Idaho, he lived in Escondido for 21 years. He was a self-employed general contractor for over 50 years.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, as a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne Division and fought in the Battle of the Bulge and in the European-African campaign.
He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was one of the original general contractors in this area and was dedicated to his work.
Mr. Thomas is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betty E. Thomas of Escondido; sons and daughters-in-law Robin E. and Marianne Thomas of Long Beach and Reid G. and Cathy Thomas of Escondido; grandchildren Lisa M. Thomas of Escondido, Kurt D. Thomas of Long Beach, Lee D. and Glenda Thomas of Fountain Valley, Sean P. and Lorraine Thomas of Littleton, Colo. and Wayne R. Thomas of Albuquerque, N.M. and great-grandchildren Andrew, Kyle and Tiffany Thomas of Murrieta, Katie and Joshua Thomas of Littleton, Colo., and Alex Thomas of Phoenix.
A graveside service is scheduled for 1:15 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, at Riverside National Cemetery, staging area 2, with the Rev. Chris Kohlbry officiating. Interment will follow the service. Allen Brothers Mortuary, San Marcos Chapel is handling arrangements.

Thomas Boyd Jr., 65
ESCONDIDO - Thomas E. Boyd Jr., 65, died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001.
Born March 28, 1935, in Chicago, he lived in Escondido for 18 years. He was a computer tech for NCR for 35 years.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1953 to 1957, loved off-roading, working on cars, dogs, camping and spending time with his friends.
Mr. Boyd is survived by his wife, Merilee A. Boyd of Escondido; sons James F. Boyd of Escondido; daughters and sons-in-law Rhonda S. and Timothy Carle of Ramona, Terri L. Boyd of Orange, and Deanna L. and Ken Barrett of San Diego; brother and sister-in-law Dennis C. and Mary Kay Boyd of Chicago and eight grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, at Alhiser-Comer Mortuary with the Rev. James Young officiating. A private cremation is scheduled.

Clarence Llywelyn, 90
VISTA - Clarence "Red" Emanual Llywelyn, 90, died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at Sunbridge-Vista Knoll.
Born Jan. 2, 1911, in Floris, Iowa, he lived in Vista for 69 years. He was the owner of La Mesa Fountain & Grill.
He served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church.
Mr. Llywelyn was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Sophie Llywelyn, in 1997. He is survived by daughter Carol Price of Escondido; brother Harold Llywelyn of Dallas; sister Nellie Llywelyn of Kansas City, Mo.; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild and one great-great-grandchild.
A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today, Jan. 31, at St. Francis Catholic Church with the Rev. Ramon Marrufo officiating.
Burial will following the service at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

Arthur Diaz, 24
ESCONDIDO - Arthur R. Diaz, 24, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2001.
Born Dec. 27, 1976, in Escondido, he lived in Escondido for 24 years. He worked as a plasterer in construction. He went to Escondido High School.
Mr. Diaz is survived by his mother Margaret C. Lovato of Vista; father Arthur Diaz Jr., of El Cajon; daughter Cierra Diaz of Vista; brothers David Tapia of Vista and Josh Diaz of El Cajon; sisters Amanda Diaz and Marci Diaz both of El Cajon; maternal grandparents Angel and Charlie Ho of Escondido and Ruben Lovato of Vista; paternal grandparents Arthur Diaz Sr., of Escondido and Liz and Ray Heath of Spring Valley; great-grandparents Ramona Diaz of Escondido and Dario and Laurie Garcia of Spring Valley; many uncles, aunts and cousins.
Viewing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, at North County Baptist Church with the funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. Interment will follow the service at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
