Don Good, 74
POWAY - Don Lorren Good, 74, died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2000, at his home.
Born Feb. 26, 1925, in Indiana, he lived in Poway for 41 years. He was a journeyman electrician for IBEW Local 569 for 34 years before retiring and was a firefighter for the California Division of Forestry during World War II.
Mr. Good is survived by his wife of 50 years, Charlotte Good of Poway; sons and daughter-in-law Arnold and Deborah Good of Julian and Gilbert Good of Escondido; daughters Gail Lusian of Hawaii and Andra Runion of Kentucky; brother Ronald Good of Lakeside; sister Delha Hester of Mariposa; and five grandchildren.
Visitation and viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, at McLeod Mortuary in Escondido. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m., with the Rev. John Abernethy of Love Ministries, Escondido, officiating. Burial will take place at noon at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

OCEANSIDE - Sherri K. Black, 75, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000, at Tri-City Medical Center.
Born July 11, 1924, in California, she lived in Oceanside for 25 years. She was a retail clerk at Lucky's groceries before retiring.
Mrs. Black is survived by her stepdaughter, Sydney Thomas of Hemet; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law William and Ruth Black of Rupert, Idaho, Elizabeth Black of Azusa and Ruth Black of Temple City.
A private cremation is planned with cremains to be scattered at sea.

Bill Wilson, 72
OCEANSIDE - Bill E. Wilson, 72, died Wednedsay, Feb. 2, 2000, at his home.
Born March 22, 1927, in Texas, he lived in Oceanside for 27 years. He was a lieutenant colonel for the U.S. Marine Corps before retiring.
Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife of 29 years, Barbara Wilson of Oceanside; daughters Christina Youngburg of Seattle and Carole Aston Moore of Vancouver, B.C.; and grandchildren Amy and Ryan Youngbird of Seattle, Ashleigh, Jaysone and Aeron Aston Moore of Vancouver.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 7, at Oceanside Elks Lodge No. 1561. Inurnment will take place at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, with military honors.

OCEANSIDE - Mathilda Van Leeuwen, 59, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000, in Escondido.
Born May 30, 1940, in Aalsmeer, Netherlands, she lived in Oceanside for 29 years. She was retired. She was a member of the North Coast United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Van Leeuwen was preceded in death by her son, John William Hovius, on Oct. 21, 1962, and her father, Willem Van Leeuwen, on Jan. 22, 1988. She is survived by her mother, Antje Van Leeuwen of Encinitas; daughter and son-in-law Jeanette Hovius and Peter Joseph Wallace of Valley Center; brothers Jack Van Leeuwen and Robert Van Leeuwen, both of Encinitas; sisters Tena Offerman of Escondido, Annie Schonewille of Coquitlam, B.C., Ella Evans of Graham, Wash., and Margaret Pruitt of Vista; and grandchildren Sydney Tayler Wallace and Delaney Lucille Wallace.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, at North Coast United Methodist Church in Oceanside, with the Rev. Richard Smith officiating.

ESCONDIDO - Antonio "Tony" Encinas, 54, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000, in Escondido.
Born Dec. 16, 1945, in San Diego, he lived in Escondido for 19 years. He was a lot attendant for Budget Rent-A-Car.
Mr. Encinas is survived by his wife of 18 years, Ruth Encinas of Escondido; mother Rebecca Encinas of San Diego; son Bryan Encinas of Escondido; daughter Rebecca Encinas of Escondido; and sister Lenore Burdsall of Frederick, Md.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 7, at McLeod Mortuary Chapel. A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

ESCONDIDO - Jack Leroy Fadner, 43, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000, of a heart attack.
Born June 23, 1956, he lived in Escondido for 20 years. He was a construction stacker.
Mr. Fadner is survived by his former wife, Dusty Rhoads of Escondido; mother, Elizabeth Jones of University Heights; sons Jonathan Fadner and Jeremy Fadner, both of Escondido; sisters Sharlett Mining of Colfax, Arlett Pollard of Carlsbad and Becky Jones of University Heights.

SOLANA BEACH - Lois Wyndle Sheehan, 87, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2000, in Encinitas.
Born April 1, 1912, in Greenwood, Ark., she lived in Solana Beach for 28 years. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Sheehan was preceded in death by her son, Harry O. Merrill, in 1996. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, John E. Sheehan of Solana Beach; daughter Linda Sheehan of Solana Beach; grandchildren Scott M. Kroll and Michelle Salinas; and great-grandchild Alex Salinas.
Penelope Foster , 86
CARLSBAD - Penelope Cosmas Foster , 86, died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2000, at Las Villas De Carlsbad.
Born July 16, 1913, in Nebraska, she lived in Carlsbad for three years. She was campaign chairman for Senator Carl Curtis before retiring.
Mrs. Foster is survived by her brother, George J. Cosmas of San Clemente.

Joan Garwood, 77
AKRON, Pa. - Joan M. Garwood, 77, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000, at Maple Farms Nursing Center in Akron.
Born Feb. 28, 1922, in Marion, Ind., she lived in Akron for two years. She served in the U.S. Navy WAVES during World War II and was a member of the United Methodist Church of Fallbrook for 31 years.
Mrs. Garwood is survived by her husband, Joseph S. Garwood; daughters Susan Vers of Lancaster, Pa., Virginia Cumbus of Montgomery, Ala., Jean Cram of Pine Valley, Judy Barnum of El Cajon and Jo Ann Siva of Fallbrook; brother John Faris of Westlake Village; 17 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Monday, Jan. 24, at Memory Gardens in Ephrata, Pa.

ESCONDIDO - Louise Carson, 93, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2000, at her home.
Born Oct. 27, 1906, in Tab, Ind., she lived in Escondido for 35 years. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Carson was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Carroll Carson, in 1986; and her son, Max Carson, in 1969. She is survived by her grandchildren Cindy Clevenger of Seattle and Clifford Carson of Sumner, Wash.; great-grandson Corey Carson of Sumner; and many nephews and nieces.

OCEANSIDE - James Gregory Klungness, 80, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2000, in La Jolla.
Born Dec. 14, 1919, in Bemidji, Minn., he lived in North County for nine years. He was a clerk for the U.S. Postal Service for 32 years and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Klungness is survived by his wife of 28 1/2 years, Elizabeth Klungness of Oceanside; son Steven Hull of Conn.; stepson Michael Klungness of Hawaii; daughters Teri Krieger of Santa Rosa and Mary Shurtz of Ohio; and stepdaughter Pamela Hicks of Oregon.
No formal service is scheduled. A private cremation is planned with inurnment to take place at McCloud Cemetery in McCloud.

Mr. Bates is survived by his son, Michael L. Bates Jr. of Escondido; daughters Joyce Brandos of Escondido and Phillis Osburn of Vista; and two grandchildren.

Born Oct. 1, 1948, in Grand Rapids, Mich., she lived in Oceanside for three years. She was a telecommunications clerk for the Civil Service at Miramar Air Station for two years.
Mrs. Ames is survived by her mother and father, Maxine and Donald Ames of Grand Rapids; son Ralph Durham of Oceanside; brothers and sister-in-law Donald Wesley II and Sue Ames and Daryl Ames; sisters and brothers-in-law Diana and Gerritt Verherji, Pamela and Dick Clark, Cathleen and Bill Van Oss and Trish Burns; grandmother Cassie Irwin; 18 nephews and nieces; and nine great-nephews and great-nieces.
