Jack Gastelum, 92
CARLSBAD - Jack Garcia Gastelum, 92, died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000, at Vencor Hospital.
Born Oct. 7, 1908, in Tubac, Ariz., he lived in Carlsbad for 80 years. He was a laborer and a member of the labor union.
Mr. Gastelum is survived by his daughter, Dora Long of Chino Hills; brothers and sisters-in-law Alfred and Hortencia Gastelum and Arthur and Belen Gastelum, all of Tucson, Ariz., and Albert and Amanda Gastelum of Oceanside; and grandchildren Brian Long of Redlands and Stephanie Long and Mark Long, both of Chino Hills.
Visitation and viewing will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., with a rosary recited from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, at Eternal Hills Mortuary. A Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Carlsbad, with the Rev. Garcia officiating. Burial will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

Margaret Foussat, 82
OCEANSIDE - Margaret E. Foussat, 82, died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000, in Vista.
Born March 30, 1918, in Tucson, Ariz., she lived in Oceanside for 81 years. She worked for Triplettes Co. before retiring in 1970. She was a member of Mission San Luis Rey Catholic Church.
Mrs. Foussat was preceded in death by her daughter, Jeannie Anaya, in 1991. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Louis Foussat of Oceanside; son and daughter-in-law Robert and Vickie Foussat of South Carolina; brother Ernist Estarda of Cardiff by the Sea; sister Gertrude Estarda of Oceanside; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, at Eternal Hills Mortuary. A funeral service is scheduled for noon Friday, Dec. 8, at the mortuary. Interment will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

VISTA - Ruby Rodarte was stillborn on Thursday, Nov. 23, 2000, at Tri-City Medical Center.
Ruby is survived by her mother and father, Carolina Rodarte of Vista and Albert Martinez Jr. of Oceanside.

ESCONDIDO - G. Kelly Ragsdale, 53, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, in Escondido.
Born Jan. 3, 1947, in Healdsburg, he lived in Escondido for 51 years. He owned and operated Ragsdale's Nelson Way Garage for 15 years and served in the U.S. Air Force.
Mr. Ragsdale was preceded in death by his mother and father; sister Mary Rosaleen Welfelt; and niece Rachel Ragsdale. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Rodie Ragsdale of Escondido; brother and sisters-in-law Fred and Jennifer Ragsdale of Corralas, N.M., Patsy Sexton of Escondido and Jojo Royer of Palm Desert; brothers-in-law Ed "Skippy" Maxcy of Stockton, Poncho Maxcy of Mesa Grande, Jack Beresford of La Jolla Indian Reservation and X. Beresford of Mesa Grande; cousins Jack Laird St. and Jack Laird Jr., both of Pala Indian Reservation, Wayne Colp of Escondido and Cheryl, David, Holly and Baby Weller, all of Pennsylvania; niece Ewha Rosaleen Corobeth Castro of New Orleans; nephew Jeff Shaw of Escondido.

William Robinson, 86
SAN DIEGO - William Robinson, 86, died Friday, Nov. 17, 2000, of heart failure, at Villa Pomerado.
Born May 19, 1914, in Yorkshire, England, he lived in San Diego for 15 years. He was a horse trainer, training hackney show ponies in Scotland, Canada and the United States, before retiring in 1999.
Mr. Robinson was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Robinson, on Feb. 9, 1999. He is survived by his son, David Allen Robinson of Ontario, Canada.
A memorial service will be held at noon Monday, Dec. 4, at Scripps Miramar Ranch in San Diego, with Allan Baulsh, president of ASHA, officiating. A private cremation is planned, with cremains to be scattered.

CARLSBAD - Ivan Thomas Green Sr., 93, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000, at Pleasant Care in Vista.
Born July 13, 1907, in Criethgon, Neb., he lived in Carlsbad for 35 years. He was a salesman for Helms Bakery and a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
Mr. Green is survived by his wife of eight years, Eva Green of Carlsbad; son Ivan Green Jr. of Palm Desert; stepsons Howard Green of Michigan and Thomas Green of Montana; daughters Virginia Ziegler of New York and Mary Search of Idaho; and stepdaughters Joann Middlecamp, Barbara Bennett, Geraldine Shimeldecker, Marilyn Forton and Mary Lou Houtman, all of Michigan.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 4, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Carlsbad. Burial will follow at Holy Cross cemetery in San Diego.

VISTA - Walter Hall, 76, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000, in Poway.
Born Aug. 27, 1924, in Menassas, Pa., he lived in Vista for more than 15 years. His career was in engineering and he served as airman 1st class in the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Hall is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Gwynne and George Hodge of Carlsbad; sister Frances Smith of Canton, Ohio; grandchildren Stephanie Knudsen and Teresa Osborne; and great-grandson Noah Knudsen.
A private cremation is planned, with cremains to be scattered off the coast of Maui to be with his fallen buddies.

J. Robert Gwillim, 87
FALLBROOK - J. Robert "Bob" Gwillim, 87, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, in Escondido.
Born March 20, 1913, in Las Anamas, Colo., he lived in Fallbrook for 24 years. He was a self-employed financial planner, working with annuities and insurance and attended the United Methodist Church in Ontario. He was a member of the Fallbrook Kiwanis Club.
Mr. Gwillim is survived by his son, Stephen Gwillim of Ventura; daughters and sons-in-law Robin and Mario Gottuso of Claremont and Kathleen and Jan Allen of Ontario; grandchildren Jeanine Garcia, Jennifer Pigott, Nicole Gottuso and Justin Gottuso; and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, at United Methodist church in Fallbrook, with the Rev. Hilton Sanders officiating. Interment will take place at Bellevue Memorial Park in Ontario.

ESCONDIDO - Kittabel McMinn Farrington Wade, 105, died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000, in Escondido.
Born Aug. 1, 1895, in Rusk, Texas, she lived in Escondido for nine years. She graduated from Baylor University in 1916 and worked for the U.S. government in Washington, D.C., and in Los Angeles, retiring in 1961.
Mrs. Wade was preceded in death by her first husband, Arthur C. Farrington, in 1954; and her second husband, Harry Wade, in 1991. She is survived by her sons, Arthur C. Farrington of Escondido and Robert Farrington of New Mexico; and many grandchildren, including Arthur C. Farrington III, Rolando C. Farrington and Lynn Pines, all of Escondido, and Karen Berghorst of Worthing, England; and many great-grandchildren.
A private cremation is planned, with her ashes to be buried beside her second husband in Ormond Beach, Fla.

Born March 4, 1955, in Redlands, she lived in San Diego County for 24 years. She was a teacher at Valley Christian School for five years.
Mrs. Teich was preceded in death by her mother, Bernice Louise Nakken, in January. She is survived by her husband, Robert W. Teich of Carlsbad; father Howard J. Ms. Cunningham is survived by her brother, Jack Cunningham of Garland, Texas; sisters Jane Rosenberger of Whittier and Frances Pecheck of Riviera, Ariz.; and eight nieces and nephews.

SILVER SPRING, Md. - Fred Knauert Jr., 57, died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2000.
Born Aug. 15, 1943, in Jackson Heights, N.Y., he lived in Carlsbad for 17 years. He attended the Army and Navy Academy, Pomona College and UC Davis and was a research scientist for the U.S. Army.
Mr. Knauert is survived by his wife of 31 years, Holly Knauert; son David Knauert; daughter Melissa Knauert; brother Dennis Knauert of Carlsbad; and many friends and other family members.

John Furman, 65
OCEANSIDE - John S. Furman, 65, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, of cancer, at Tri-City Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 2, 1935, in Moorefield, W.Va., and served in the U.S. Army for two years of active served and four years reserve. He was a tool and die maker for Hewlett-Packard in Rancho Bernardo for 21 years and a volunteer for Citrus Gardens senior community in Escondido, where he lived for five years.
Mr. Furman was preceded in death by his mother and father, Lillian and Harold Furman; and brother Larry Furman. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Esther Furman; sons and daughter-in-law Chuck and Carol Blessing of Serra Mesa and Mike Blessing of Santee; daughter Diana Evans of Linda Vista; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law Ron and Judy De Fago of San Marcos, Donna Furman of Barberton, Ohio and Jean Maxwell of Akron, Ohio; sister Yvonne Davis of Akron; five grandchildren; three great-grandsons; and nieces and nephews in Ohio.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, Society of the Descendants of Washington's Army at Valley Forge, National Society of Women Descendants of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Co., Daughters of the American Revolution and the Roger Williams Family Association Inc.
Mrs. Ipson is survived by her daughters, Dorothy Ahlstrom and Lucy Christianson, both of Yucaipa, Sally Cheeser of Houston, Nancy Christianson of Milpitas and Mary McKellar of Sun City; son David Ipson of Huntsville, Utah; and brother Dr. Richard Hanke of Orem, Utah.
