CARLSBAD - Travis Fain, 78, died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000, at San Clemente Hospital.
Born Feb. 21, 1922, in Mascoutah, Ill., he lived in Carlsbad for 25 years. He was a precision grinder for Miller Precision Grinding and served in the U.S. Marines.
Mr. Fain is survived by his wife of 47 years, Lavina Muehlhauser of Carlsbad; mother and father Amalia and Otto Muehlhauser of Mascoutah; son Kent Muehlhauser of Escondido; daughters Linda Muehlhauser-Alt of Encinitas and Leslee Muehlhauser of Carlsbad; sister Mildred S. Muehlhauser of Mascoutah; and grandchildren Justin McCunn, Travis Fain, Morgan Fain and Jasmine, Tyler and Dillon Muehlhauser.
A private memorial service is planned. His ashes will be scattered.

VISTA - Keith Campbell, 77, died Friday, Nov. 3, 2000, at Woodland Hills Manor.
Born Sept. 22, 1923, in Portland, Ore., he lived in Vista for one year. He was a foreman for Alsynite Plastic Manufacturing before retiring in 1985 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Campbell is survived by his son, Jim Campbell and companion Rosanna Thompson of Valley Center; nieces Lisa Cox of Sonoma, Cathy Catlett of Laguna Niguel, Linda Zachert of Aledo, Ill., and Jenifer Weller of Bakersfield; nephews Jerry Rife of San Luis Obispo; brother Doug Campbell of Sonoma; sisters Florence Smith of Bakersfield and Helen Acton of Astoria, Ore.; and sister-in-law Miriam Campbell of Laguna Niguel.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, at Alhiser-Comer Mortuary Chapel, with the Rev. Richard Huls officiating. A private cremation is planned, with cremains to be scattered at sea.

CARLSBAD - James M. Mulligan, 46, died Monday, Nov. 27, in Carlsbad.
Born May 9, 1954, in Hammond, Ind., he lived in Carlsbad. He attended Munster High School and Purdue University and worked at J & L Steel. He was a member of Iron Workers Local No. 395, in Indiana, before moving to California.
Mr. Mulligan is survived by his mother and father, Eileen and James Mulligan of Boca Raton, Fla.; brothers Daniel Mulligan of Sarasota, Fla., and Thomas Mulligan of Carlsbad; and sister and brother-in-law Anne and William Nolen of Boynton Beach, Fla.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8. Interment will take place at Our Lady Queen of Heaven cemetery in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

SAN DIEGO - Iradj Moazed, 68, died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000, of a brain tumor, in San Diego.
Born May 26, 2000, in Meshed, Iran, he lived in San Diego for 11 years. He was a stockbroker for Charles Schwab before retiring in 1994 and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1954.
Mr. Moazed is survived by his wife of 20 years, Beverly Moazed of San Diego; son Tler Moazed of San Diego; brothers Khosrow Moazed of San Diego and Cyrus Moazed of Middletown, Md.; and sister Mina Bauer of Inverness.
A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, at the Rancho Bernardo Community Presbyterian Church. Burial will take place at 2:30 p.m. at the Memorial Garden of Rancho Bernardo Community Presbyterian Church.

CARLSBAD - Jack Garcia Gastelum, 92, died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000, at Vencor Hospital.
Born Oct. 7, 1908, in Tubac, Ariz., he lived in Carlsbad for 80 years. He was a laborer and a member of the labor union.
Mr. Gastelum is survived by his daughter, Dora Long of Chino Hills; brothers and sisters-in-law Alfred and Hortencia Gastelum and Arthur and Belen Gastelum, all of Tucson, Ariz., and Albert and Amanda Gastelum of Oceanside; and grandchildren Brian Long of Redlands and Stephanie Long and Mark Long, both of Chino Hills.
Visitation and viewing will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., with a rosary recited from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, at Eternal Hills Mortuary. A Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Carlsbad, with the Rev. Garcia officiating. Burial will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

RAMONA - Ethel Porter Johnson, 92, died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000.
Born Sept. 2, 1908, in Delta, Colo., she lived in San Diego County since 1942 and in Poway for 31 years before moving to Ramona in 1973.
Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Arthur Delafield "Del" Johnson, in October 1988. She is survived by her daughter, Julie J. Iavelli of Ramona; sons Bonsall D. Johnson of New Mexico, William S. Johnson of Washington and Thomas P. Johnson of Redwood City; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Born Jan. 3, 1947, in Healdsburg, he lived in Escondido for 51 years. He owned and operated Ragsdale's Nelson Way Garage for 15 years and served in the U.S. Air Force.
Mr. Ragsdale was preceded in death by his mother and father; sister Mary Rosaleen Welfelt; and niece Rachel Ragsdale. Born Aug. 4, 1940, in Gilmer, Texas, she lived in Oceanside for many years. She was a member of Second Missionary Baptist Church of Oceanside and served in the U.S. Marine Corps for more than 20 years.
Mrs. Dukes was preceded in death by her daughter, Eilene Renee Dukes. She is survived by her sons, Robert James Dukes and Charles Melvin Adam of Oceanside; sisters Marilyn Collier, Loretta Collier and Sharon Young, all of Dallas; brother Charles Body of Dallas; four grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
Interment will take place at Cedar Grove cemetery in Pittsburg, Texas.

Born Sept. 19, 1901, in St. Louis, she lived in Murrieta for seven years. She was a restaurant manager before retiring.
Ms. Fineman is survived by her sister, Margaret Barnes of Murrieta; brother Robert Cartmell of Murrieta; niece Caroll Hiatt of Murrieta; and nephew Ronald Cartmell of Gadsden, Ala.
No service is planned. Interment will take place at Valhalla Memorial Park in North Hollywood.

MURRIETA - Esther Elizabeth Saroff, 63, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, at her home.
Born July 13, 1937, in Los Angeles, she lived in Murrieta for 16 years. She was a homemaker and enjoyed music and gardening. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Knights of Columbus at St. Martha's Catholic Church, where she served as Eucharist Minister, and was a volunteer for Vina de Lestonnae in Temecula. She was a medical secretary for Dr. Peter P. Saroff in Hemet.
Mrs. Saroff is survived by her husband, Peter P. Saroff, M.D., of Murrieta; son Timothy Bonner of Ireland; daughters Stephanie Welch of Temecula, Shelly Pritchet of Alaska, Carol Carroll of Lake Elsinore; sisters Ruth Leiplein of Mission Viejo and Roberta Brooks of Aurora, Colo.; brothers Roland Gray of San Diego and Richard Gray of Hemet; and eight grandchildren.
