Richard Prendergast, 78
ANAHEIM - Richard "Dick" J. Prendergast, 78, died Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2000, at his home from complications from cancer and Alzheimer's disease.
Born Sept. 2, 1921, he was a resident of Anaheim for more than 20 years. He was a retired naval captain, serving in WWII, and retired in 1981. He was a graduate of Tufts University.
Mr. Prendergast is survived by his wife of 18 years, Pam Prendergast of Anaheim; sons and daughters-in-law David and Jackie Prendergast of Eureka, Thomas and Terresa Prendergast of San Diego and step-son Mark Briscoe of Anaheim; daughters Carol Hartwig of Oceanside and Anne Hakooz of Cumming, Ga., 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A memorial is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 11 at Riverside National Cemetery, area 3.
The family suggests memorial donations to: Orange County Alzheimer's Association, 2540 Santiago Blvd., Orange, CA 92865.
West Coast Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.

Marcella Hay, 82
WATERTOWN, S.D. - Marcella V. Hay, 82, died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000.
Born Sept. 30, 1917, in McKeesport, Pa., she was a resident of Benet Place, Watertown, S.D., and formerly of Escondido. She was in the U.S. Women's Army Corp during WW II, serving in New Guinea. She did volunteer work for the Escondido Police Department and sang in her church choir. She was a member of the Congregational Church in Escondido, Elks Wives and Widows and the Veterans of Foreign War Auxiliary.
Mrs. Hay was preceded in death by her husband Gerald Hay in 1985, her parents, Ross and Viola (Omert) Kelley and one brother. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Peg and Greg Solum of Watertown; Nancy and Harry Bruno of Hanover, Mass.; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Memorial services are scheduled for 5 p.m. today, Aug. 8, at the Wight and Fox Funeral Chapel in Watertown with the Rev. Bill Helland of the Lutheran Brethren Church officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Frank H. Adams Post 750 of the VFW.
Wight and Fox Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Jerry Lee Roberts, 64
Jerry Lee Roberts, 64, died Wednesday, August 2, 2000, at Fallbrook Hospital in Fallbrook.
Born March 7, 1936 in Los Angeles, he lived in Temecula for 20 years. He was the owner of J&R Concrete Pumping & Creative Hydroseed Inc. for 30 years. He enjoyed boating, sports, love of family and his pets, Peanut and Sadie. He belonged to the California Landscape Contractors Association (Inland Empire) and Concrete Pumping Association. He served honorably in the U.S. Air Force for four years.
Mr. Roberts is survived by his wife, Cheryl Roberts, of Temecula; son and daughter-in-law Kurt and Michelle Roberts of Maui; daughters and sons-in-law Jana and Harry Nelson of Newport Beach, Amy and David Malpee of Redondo Beach and Katie and Jim Lambert of Aliso Viejo; daughter Shelly Fox of Aliso Viejo; sister Judy Hele of Claremont; granddaughters Aja Roberts of Manhattan Beach and Isabella Malpee of Redondo Beach; and grandsons Harrison Nelson of Newport Beach and Blake Roberts of Maui.
A funeral Mass was held Saturday, August 5, 2000 at St. Catherines Catholic Church in Temecula. Burial followed at Temecula Cemetery.
Contributions can be made to Ronald McDonald House or Make a Wish Foundation.

Patricia Curran, 40
Patricia Curran, 40, died Thursday, August 3, 2000 at her home in Murrieta.
Born May 19, 1960 in Orange, she lived in Murrieta for 21 years. She was a homemaker and enjoyed writing poetry, gardening and loved birds and bird houses.
Mrs. Curran is survived by her husband Richard Curran of Murrieta; son Robert Hussey of Murrieta; daughters Sarah and Rebecca Hussey of Murrieta; step-sons Daniel Curran of Murrieta and Nicholas Curran of Hemet; father Lee Ennen of Lake Elsinore; brother Douglas Ennen of Hemet; sisters Terry Bell of Winchester, Tracy Bell of Lake Elsinore, Brenda La Paglia of Emett, Idaho and Laura Ennen of Temecula.
Memorial services were held Monday, August 7 at Valley Funeral Home. Burial followed at Laurel cemetery in Murrieta.
Contributions can be made to Kaiser Hospice Program, 9961 Sierra Ave., Fontana, CA 92335; Attention Kris Woods.

Kimberly Joy White, 3 months
ESCONDIDO - Kimberly Joy White, 3 months, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000, in her sleep.
She was born April 17, 2000, in Poway.
Kimberly is survived by her mother and father, Laury and Philip White of Escondido; brother Andrew Michael White of Escondido; and sister Alexis Laura White of Escondido.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. today, Aug. 9, at Calvary Chapel Escondido, with the Rev. Pat Kenney officiating. A private cremation is planned.
The family suggests memorial donations to Calvary Chapel of Escondido, 1675 Seven Oaks Road, Escondido, CA 92026.

Truman Richardson, 80
CARLSBAD - Truman Jefferson "Mr. Truman" Richardson, 80, died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000, at Tri-City Medical Center.
Born Dec. 16, 1919, in Milan, Mo., he lived in Carlsbad for 58 years. He was a self-employed meat cutter for 65 years and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Richardson was preceded in death by his brothers, Glen Richardson in 1975, Marion Richardson in 1945, Francis Richardson in 1973 and Leon Richardson; and sister Mildred Richardson. He is survived by his wife, Frances E. Richardson of Carlsbad; brothers Albert S. Richardson Sr. of San Marcos, Ellis S. Richardson of McHenry, Ill., and Billy A. Richardson and Ralph L. Richardson, both of Milan; and sisters Mary Jane Caldwell and Clara M. Frazier, both of Milan.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, at Allen Brothers Vista Chapel. A funeral service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 11, at the mortuary, with the Rev. Richard Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

John Von Cadow, 80
SAN DIEGO - John Von Cadow, 80, died Friday, Aug. 4, 2000, at his home.
Born April 28, 1920, in Dayton, Wash., he lived in San Diego for 21 years. He was a self-employed rancher before retiring in 1979. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army in the Normandy Campaign during World War II and was a member of the Rancho Bernardo Country Club, Rancho Bernardo Golf Club, Rancho Bernardo Welcome Club, the Republican Party, the American Legion, the National Rifle Association, Newcomers Alumni and the Congregational Church of Dayton, Wash. He was a life member of the Elks Club.
Mr. Von Cadow is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, K.C. Mueller of Honolulu, E. Laird and Debra Mueller of Seal Beach and G. Scott and Rebecca Mueller of Huntington Beach; and brother Aggie Von Cadow of Dayton.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Aug. 12, at Hubbard-Rogg Mortuary in Dayton. A funeral service will also take place Saturday, Aug. 12, at the mortuary. Burial will follow at Dayton City Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial donations to the American Cancer Society, 12405 Rancho Bernardo Road, Suite 100, San Diego, CA 92128.

Judith Whirlow, 52

ESCONDIDO - Judith Anne Whirlow, 52, died Friday, Aug. 4, 2000.
Born Aug. 25, 1947, in San Diego, she lived in Escondido. She was a configuration specialist for Mind Port Co.
Mrs. Whirlow is survived by her husband, Jack Whirlow of Escondido; sons Todd Fletcher, Mike Fletcher and Jack Whirlow Jr., all of Escondido; sister Janice Petretta of San Diego; brother Richard Rickman of El Cajon; and two grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today, Aug. 9, at Poway-Bernardo Mortuary.

Raymond Pete Jolly, 67

ESCONDIDO - Raymond Pete Jolly, 67, died Friday, Aug. 4, 2000, of cancer, in Poway.
Born March 9, 1933, in Muncie, Ind., he lived in Escondido for 19 years.
He taught junior high choral music in Michigan and retired from Maric College in 1990 after 25 years.
He earned bachelor of arts and master of arts degrees from Michigan State University and served in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the San Pasqual Battlefield Group and Escondido Historical Society.
Mr. Jolly was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Jolly, in December 1981. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Janet K. Jolly of Escondido; mother Doris R. Jolly of Stuart, Fla.; son and daughter-in-law Peter and Maureen Jolly of Royal Oak, Mich.; stepson and daughter-in-law David and Stephanie Pfafman of Acton; daughter and son-in-law Bethanne and Will Concenia of Traverse City, Mich.; stepdaughter and son-in-law Lynn and Dennis Wicker of Athens, Texas; sister Lucinda Rickard of Stuart; and grandchildren Caitlin and Kelsey Jolly, Andrew, Adam and Amanda Wicker, and Britney Pfafman.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, at the First United Methodist Church in Escondido, with the Rev. Faith Conklin officiating. A private cremation is planned with burial to take place at a later date at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial donations to the United Methodist Foundation, 341 Kalmia, Escondido, CA 92025; or Palomar Medical Center Auxiliary Scholarship Fund, 555 Valley Parkway, Escondido, CA 92025.

Margaret Fagan, 84
FALLBROOK - Margaret Evelin Fagan, 84, died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000, in Fallbrook.
Born April 29, 1916, in Butte, Mont., she lived in Fallbrook for eight years.
She was a custodian for the Butte, Mont., School District for 10 years and a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Fallbrook, St. Patrick's Women's Guild and a small faith community with the church.
Mrs. Fagan was preceded in death by her husband, Harold C. Fagan, in 1991. She is survived by her son, James P. Fagan of Billings, Mont.; daughter Lois Peretti of Fallbrook; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Bud Karcher officiating. Interment will take place at a date to be determined at Holy Cross cemetery in Butte.
The family suggests memorial donations to St. Peter's Catholic Church Scholarship Fund, 450 S. Stage Coach Lane, Fallbrook, CA 92028.

Oscar Dreyer, 83

CARLSBAD - Oscar Frank Dreyer, 83, died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2000, at Las Villas de Carlsbad.
Born June 22, 1917, in Missouri, he lived in Carlsbad for 14 years.
He worked for Lockheed before retiring in 1980. He served as a captain in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
Mr. Dreyer was preceded in death by his wife, Colette Dreyer, on Dec. 24, 1988. He is survived by his sons, Gregory Dreyer of San Diego, James Dreyer of Gravois Mills, Mo., and Christopher Dreyer of Indialantic, Fla.; daughters Kathleen Cool of San Diego and Deborah Doneen of Gilbert, Ariz.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A private cremation is planned with inurnment to take place at Fort Rosecrans National cemetery in Point Loma.

Thomas Jamieson, 66

ESCONDIDO - Thomas L. Jamieson, 66, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000, at Palomar Medical Center.
Born Dec. 30, 1933, in Upland, he lived in Escondido for 15 years. He was a self-employed graphic artist before retiring in 1990.
Mr. Jamieson is survived by his cousin, Susan Holbert of Carmel, Ind.
A private inurnment will take place at San Marcos Cemetery.

Debra Zaczek, 46
RANCHO PENASQUITOS - Debra Ann Zaczek, 46, died Friday, Aug. 4, 2000, of cancer, in Poway.
Born June 18, 1954, in Philadelphia, she lived in Rancho Penasquitos for 14 years. She was a computer operator for Cordino, Hickey and Hanson, a CPA firm, and a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Women's Guild.
Mrs. Zaczek is survived by her husband of 27 years, Joseph T. Zaczek of Rancho Penasquitos; mother and father Jenny and William Morris of Las Vegas; son and daughter-in-law Joey and Alisha Zaczek of Las Vegas; daughter and son-in-law Robin Zaczek and Scott Pearson of San Diego; three brothers; three sisters; and two grandchildren.
A funeral service was held Monday, Aug. 7, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in San Diego. A private family interment will take place at a time to be announced at Dearborn Memorial Park.

Neva Johnson, 99
ESCONDIDO - Neva C. Johnson, 99, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000, at Meadowview Board and Care in Escondido.
Born April 18, 1901, in Rossford, Ohio, she lived in Escondido for 54 years. She was a homemaker and a member of the Farm Bureau and the East End Club since 1947.
Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, Merlin Johnson and her son, Raymond Johnson. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Melvin and Marjorie Johnson of Escondido.
A private burial will take place at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

CARMEL VALLEY - Lisa Inatome-Castimore, 49, died Monday, Aug. 7, 2000, at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla.
Born Dec. 27, 1950, in Detroit, she lived in Carmel Valley for six years. She was a substance abuse counselor with Occupation Health Services in San Marcos.
Mrs. Inatome-Castimore is survived by her husband, Dwight Castimore of Carmel Valley; sons Jesse K. Griffith and Tyler I. Cole, both of Carmel Valley; stepdaughters Jennifer Grivalsky of Denver and Danielle Grivalsky of New York City; mother Atsuko Nan of Las Vegas; father Joseph T. Inatome of Del Mar; brothers and sister-in-law Rick and Joyce Inatome of Danville and Joseph C. Inatome of Del Mar.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, and Friday, Aug. 11, at El Camino Memorial/Encinitas Chapel. A funeral service is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, at Chapel by the Sea Assembly of God Church in Encinitas.
A private inurnment is planned.

Brian Jepsen, 48
VISTA - Brian X. Jepsen, 48, died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2000, of a heart attack, in Farmington, N.M.
Born March 21, 1952, at Hill Air Force Base in Ogden, Utah, he lived in Vista for 32 years. He worked for United Van Lines and was a member of the Catholic Church.
Mr. Jepsen was preceded in death by his father, Edward F. Jepsen. He is survived by his wife of two years, Elizabeth Jepsen of Farmington; mother Cecilia Jepsen of Vista; sons Brandon Jepsen and Tyler Jepsen, both of Farmington; daughters Briana Jepsen and Brittany Jepsen, both of Farmington; twin brother Mark Jepsen of Vista and brother Dean Jepsen of Fallbrook; and sister Judy Jepsen of Vista.
No service will be held at the request of the deceased. A private cremation is planned.
