Myrtie Van Bockern, 94
SANTA ANA - Myrtie O. Van Bockern, 94, died Friday, July 28, 2000, in Newport Beach.
Born April 16, 1906, in Oklahoma, she lived in Santa Ana and had lived in North County for many years. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Van Bockern was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Van Bockern; daughter Jeanette Crammer; and two grandchildren. She is survived by her son, Clayton Zahniser of Newport Beach; daughters Karlene Snyder of Carlsbad and Betty Hippe of Corona Del Mar; sister Delia Rawlings of Texas; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at Eternal Hills Mortuary. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at the mortuary, with the Rev. Edwards officiating.

Margaret Homme, 80
ESCONDIDO - Margaret J. Homme, 80, died Saturday, July 29, 2000, at Palomar Medical Center.
Born June 18, 1920, in Canada, she lived in Escondido for 52 years. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Homme is survived by her husband, Stanley Homme of Escondido; son Bernardo Homme of Folsom; daughters Marilyn Johnson of Gaithersburg, Mo., and Sharon Roukal of Littleton, Colo.; sister Karen Has-Ellison of El Cajon; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2, at Greenwood Mortuary in San Diego. A graveside service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 3, at Greenwood Memorial Park. Burial will follow.

Joe Robinson, 57
ESCONDIDO - Joe Robinson, 57, died Wednesday, July 26, 2000, of cancer, in Escondido.
Born March 3, 1943, in Michigan, he lived in North County for 30 years. He was a machinist in North County for 30 years.
Mr. Robinson is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Joel and Jennifer Robinson of Las Vegas; daughters and their partners Tracy Robinson and Bill Blackwell of Oceanside and Torey Robinson and Steve O'Neal of Vista; and grandson Nicholas Robinson.
No service will be held at the request of the deceased. A private cremation is planned.
Accu-Care Cremation is handling arrangements.

Viola Dodds, 85
BURLINGAME - Viola Marie Dodds, 85, died Saturday, July 29, 2000, in Burlingame.
Born in Boone, Iowa, she lived at Lake San Marcos for 33 years. She worked for Lockheed as a technical illustrator before retiring after 10 years.
Mrs. Dodds is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Dianna and William Schwarz of Foster City; grandsons and their wives Robert and Katherine Schwarz and Brent and Stephanie Schwarz; and great-grandson Austin Schwarz.
A private graveside service will be held Wednesday, Aug. 2, at San Marcos Cemetery.

Fred Elliott, 80
ESCONDIDO - Fred L. Elliott, 80, died Saturday, July 29, 2000, at Palomar Medical Center.
Born Dec. 28, 1919, in Cincinnati, he lived in Escondido. He joined the Civilian Conservation Corps and was associated with the Dairymen's Creamery in Caldwell, Idaho, and served with the First Calvary Division in Tokyo. He graduated from the College of Idaho and received his master's degree from Stanford University. He retired from the biology department at Palomar Community College in San Marcos.
A private service will be held with interment to take place in Caldwell.
The family suggests memorial donations to the North County Special Olympics, 669 E. Vista Way, Vista, CA 92084-5547.

Albert Smith, 72
RANCHO BERNARDO - Albert J. Smith, 72, died Thursday, July 27, 2000, at his home.
Born June 10, 1928, in Norman, Okla., he lived in Rancho Bernardo for 20 years. He was a state and federal meat inspector from 1957 to 1985 and owned a 7-11 in Escondido for 25 years. He was a member of the Masons, San Diego Lodge No. 35 and the Elks Club, Escondido Lodge, for 37 years.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 12 1/2 years, Billie Smith of Rancho Bernardo; daughter and son-in-law Gail L. and Gerald E. Hinson; and sister Mary Ella Turner of Hattiesburg, Miss.
The family suggests memorial donations to West Health Care Hospice Services, 9280 Mast Blvd., Santee, CA 92071.
No service will be held at the request of the deceased.

Teresa Saxton-Hixen-Schlee, 44
MORENO VALLEY - Teresa Saxton-Hixen-Schlee, 44, died Sunday, July 23, 2000, of cancer.
Born June 19, 1956, in Indianapolis, she lived in Oceanside for most of her life. She attended El Camino High School and Oceanshores.
Ms. Saxton-Hixen-Schlee is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Summer and Michael Townsend; mother Ruth Saxton of Oceanside; father Robert Saxton of Indianapolis; sisters and brothers-in-law Edna and Elisaia Siluano and Lisa and John Doan, all of Oceanside, MaryJo Saxton of Indianapolis, Ruth and Jack Perkins of Kentucky, and Donna and Ray Lebbey of Moreno Valley; brothers and sisters-in-law Mike and Sharon Saxton and Steven and Francis Saxton, all of Indianapolis, Gary and Patti Saxton of Washington, Allen and Susan Saxton of Alaska and Charles and Beth Saxton of Las Vegas; teacher, mentor and friend Patty Trotter; and many nieces and nephews.

Melissa Cook, 25
EUGENE, Ore. - Melissa Ann Theodore Cook, 25, died Tuesday, July 25, 2000, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eugene.
Born Feb. 9, 1975, in San Bernardino, she lived in N.E. Keizer, Ore. She graduated from Grant Union High School in 1993, where she was a member of the music and drama clubs. She attended Eastern Oregon State College, studying to be a neonatal nurse. She was a new accounts representative at the Oregon Employee's Federal Credit Union in Salem. She was a member of the LDS Relief Society and enjoyed crafts and music.
Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by her brother, James Cory Theodore; brother-in-law Randall Cook; and father-in-law Elvin Ray Cook. She is survived by her husband, Ray Cook of Keizer, Ore.; son James Randall Cook of Keizer; daughter Rebecca Annalyssa Cook of Keizer; mother Kathy Theodore of John Day; father and step-mother Tedd and Lisa Theodore of Vista; sisters Nicole Theodore of Keizer, Teddi Theodore of Bend and Lauren Theodore of Vista; brothers Matt Theodore of Bend, Ryan Hendrickson, Jeff Hendrickson and Paul Hendrickson, all of Vista; mother-in-law Patricia Huskey of Canyonville, Ore.; brother-in-law Lance Cook of Star City, Ark.; grandparents Eldon and Wanda Weaver of Canyonville, Ore., and step-grandparents Earl and Ann Williams of Vista.
A funeral service was held Monday, July 31, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in John Day, with Bishop Willis Sintay officiating. Interment followed at Canyon City Cemetery.

Blanche Crise, 95
ESCONDIDO - Blanche Evangline Crise, 95, died Thursday, July 27, 2000, in Escondido.
Born Aug. 11, 1904, in Mansfield, Mo., she lived in Escondido for 80 years. She was a homemaker and a life-time member of the First Congregational Church of Escondido.
Mrs. Crise is survived by her son, Harold J. Crise of Escondido; daughter Ella Lucille Baker of Escondido; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1, at Oak Hills Memorial Park, with the Rev. James Fredette officiating.

OCEANSIDE - Raymond Tucker, 91, died Sunday, July 30, 2000, in Vista.
Born Sept. 21, 1908, in Oregon, he lived in Oceanside for 28 years. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Genealogy Group and Postmasters.
Mr. Tucker was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Louilla Tucker of Oceanside; son Donald Tucker of Arizona; daughters Catherine Blair of Riverside and Norma Cooper of Vista; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 4, at Eternal Hills Memorial Park. Interment will follow.

John Longpre, 77
VISTA - John W. "Jack" Longpre, 77, died Sunday, July 30, 2000, in Vista.
Born April 19, 1923, in Detroit, he lived in Vista. He was a major in the U.S. Marine Corps and a member of Knights of Columbus, Rotary and Shadow Ridge Country Club.
Mr. Longpre is survived by his wife of 55 years, Pauline Longpre of Vista; son Rod Longpre of Louisiana; daughters Dina Grant of Guam and Debbie Longpre of Vista; brother Jim Longpre of Modesto; and six grandchildren.
Visitation was held Tuesday, Aug. 1, at Eternal Hills Mortuary. A funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. today, Aug. 2, at Eternal Hills Mortuary, with the Rev. Coghlin officiating. Interment will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

Laurie Cockrell, 72
OCEANSIDE - Laurie Cockrell, 72, died Saturday, July 29, 2000, in Oceanside.
Born Nov. 28, 1927, in Oklahoma, she lived in Oceanside for 25 years. She was a homemaker and liked Jazzercize.
Mrs. Cockrell was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Joe Cockrell of Oceanside.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, at Eternal Hills Mortuary.

Dean Neutzling, 79
ESCONDIDO - Dean Neutzling, 79, died Sunday, July 30, 2000, at his home.
Born Oct. 5, 1920, in Los Angeles, he lived in Escondido for 52 years. He was a rural mail carrier for the Escondido Orange Street Post Office before retiring in 1982. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of Hidden Valley Christian Church, serving as elder, deacon, trustee and greeter.
Mr. Neutzling is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mae E. Neutzling of Escondido; niece Jane and Alan March of Escondido; sister-in-law Lucy Halliday of Sacramento; brother-in-law Glenn Warnick of Mount Auburn, Ill.; cousin Windsor Taunton of Lancaster; great-niece Kara and Craig Clewett of Escondido; and great-nephew Greg and Elaine Fitzpatrick of Poway.
Viewing will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 3, at Hidden Valley Christian Church in Escondido. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church, with the Revs. Henry Wilson and Pete Mayfield officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

FALLBROOK - Louis Elliott Livingston, 91, died Friday, July 28, 2000, in Fallbrook.
Born Sept. 27, 1908, in Magnum, Okla., he lived in Fallbrook for 42 years. He was a production director for Standard Oil for 35 years before retiring and a past member of the Fallbrook Golf Club.
Mr. Livingston is survived by his wife of 20 years, Dorothy Livingston of Fallbrook; son Ricardo M. Livingston of Fallbrook; and two grandchildren.
A private cremation is planned with cremains to be scattered at sea off the coast of San Diego County.

Josephine Schaeffer, 88
FALLBROOK - Josephine Marie Schaeffer, 88, died Monday, July 31, 2000, in San Marcos.
Born May 31, 1912, in Elgin, Ill., she lived in Fallbrook for 40 years. She owned Schaeffer's Nursery in Fallbrook for 54 years and was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Fallbrook, past member of St. Peter's Ladies Altar Society and past member of the Fallbrook Garden Club.
Mrs. Schaeffer was preceded in death by her husband, Max Schaeffer, in 1972. She is survived by her sons, Roland Schaeffer of Fallbrook and Max Schaeffer of Carlsbad; daughter Margaret Lawson of Arcadia; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 3, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Fallbrook. Burial will follow at Fallbrook Masonic Cemetery.

George Watto, 72
FALLBROOK - George Watto, 72, died Monday, July 24, 2000, of cancer, at his home.
Born April 27, 1928, in Nesquehoning, Pa., he lived in Fallbrook for 12 years. He was a professor emeritus, teaching business and economics for California State University in Northridge and UCLA, retiring in June 1988. He graduated from Westminster College in Pennsylvania and did graduate work at Indiana University. He served in the U.S. Navy, stationed at San Diego Naval Training Station, and was a member of St. James Presbyterian Church in Tarzana, Reseda Masonic Lodge, Los Angeles Scottish Rite Al Melaikah Temple.
Mr. Watto was preceded in death by his brother, John Watto, Andrew Watto, Paul Watto and Peter Watto; and his sister, Anna Hrapsky. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ruth Watto of Fallbrook.
No service will be held at the request of the deceased.

VISTA - Stephen P. Easterling, 34, died Sunday, July 30, 2000, in Vista.
Born Aug. 8, 1965, in La Mesa, he lived in Vista. He worked for Easterling Construction.
Mr. Easterling was preceded in death by his brother, James Craig Easterling, in May 1990. He is survived by his mother, Edie Easterling of Fairfield; grandmother Dovie Anne Kafka of Vista; daughter Samantha Anne Easterling of Fairfield; brothers and sisters-in-law Michael and Irina Easterling and Christopher and Lynn Easterling, all of Vista; and niece Amanda Easterling of Vista.

Born June 17, 1913, in Columbus, Mont., he lived in San Diego County for 70 years. He was a manufacturing engineer for Solar Industries for 30 years and was a member of Solars Founders Club and Elks Lodge of El Cajon 1812.
Mr. Greer was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Catherine Greer, in 1988. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Fred Mehlick of Vista; sister Edna Flanders of Roseville; and grandson Matt Greer of Vista.
A memorial service will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, at Christ Unity Church in El Cajon, with the Rev. Arthur Hammons officiating. A reception will follow at the Elks Lodge at 1400 E. Washington in El Cajon. A private cremation, with inurnment, will take place at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

Mrs. Harney was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathleen Geradis. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Stephen Harney of Escondido; son David Harney of Garden Grove; daughter and son-in-law Elizabeth and James Bland of Solvang; and sister Cornelia Harrison of Mission Viejo.
