Theodora O'Connor, 79

POWAY - Theodora Rose O'Connor, 79, died Friday, March 30, 2001, in Poway.
Born Sept. 9, 1921, in Deep River, Conn, she was retired from the Poway Post Office. She lived in Poway since 1949.
Mrs. O'Connor is survived by her daughter, Sharon Wright of Poway; son Bob O'Connor of Ramona; daughter Colleen Mann of Poway; brother Ernie Calamari of Connecticut; sister Louise Cerruti of Connecticut; brother Cal Calamari of Connecticut; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson.
No services are planned.
The family suggests memorial donations to the Elizabeth Hospice, 150 W. Crest St., Escondido, CA 92025.

Eleanor Fisher, 79

FOUNTAIN VALLEY - Eleanor C. Fisher, 79, died Monday, March 26, 2001, in Fountain Valley of cardiac arrest.
Born Jan. 4, 1922, in San Diego, she lived in Fountain Valley for 27 years. She spent all of her early life in Escondido.
Mrs. Fisher is survived by her husband of 54 years, Malcolm P. Fisher of Fountain Valley; son Albert Fisher of Paradise; and daughter-in-law Paula Fisher of Fullerton; brother Thomas Chatham of Escondido; and grandchildren Joshua and Jerrad Fisher.
Services were held at Pacific View Memorial Park in Newport Beach.

Willard O'Neal, 100
FALLBROOK - Willard R. O'Neal, 100, died Sunday, March 25, 2001, at his home.
Born Feb. 8, 1901, in Pepperell, Mass., he lived in Fallbrook for 54 years.
Mr. O'Neal is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ruth M. O'Neal of Vista; daughter and son-in-law Nancy and Robert Lopez of Carlsbad; and grandchildren Mark Lopez of Fallbrook and Cindy Lopez of Vista; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Berry-Bell and Hall Mortuary.

Harry Roland Butler
Harry Butler, a good, kind and gentle man, passed away on Friday, March 30, 2001, after a decade-long battle with cancer. He died peacefully at home in Escondido surrounded by his family.
Harry was born in Chula Vista, on Aug. 28, 1948, to Jack and Lorene Butler. He attended Crawford High School and San Diego State University where he met his wife of 30 years, Jo.
He joined the San Diego Fire Department in 1971, and served at stations all over San Diego County. He was an avid baseball fan and loved the beach. He was a natural handyman.
Harry designed and built his own home and helped countless others do the same. Above all else, he was dedicated to his family - his wife, Jo, daughter Jennifer and son Tom. Harry was gracious and humble and would undoubtedly want to thank the many who loved and supported him in all his endeavors.
The San Diego Firefighters selflessly donated their sick leave to ensure he and his family remained financially solvent during his bone marrow transplant. They organized trips to City of Hope to donate the blood and platelets that flowed through his body as he fought to regain his health. In addition, the dedicated medical staff at City of Hope and Kaiser Permanente worked tirelessly to save his life. They made Harry's final days bearable and allowed him to die with dignity.
Harry Butler was a truly lucky and blessed man. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers in his honor. He will be missed.
In lieu of flowers, Harry's family requests donations be sent to City of Hope, 1500 E. Durated Rd., Durate, CA 91010.

Jay Douglas Luckey
Jay Douglas Luckey, 21, died Saturday, March 31, 2001, in an automobile accident in Vista.
Born Dec. 29, 1979, in Chicago, he lived in San Francisco and was visiting his parents who reside in Vista. Prior to moving to San Francisco, he lived with his parents in Chicago and DuQuion, Ill., Palm Springs, San Diego and Vista.
He was a musician and played in a San Francisco band, Bankers. In addition, he was a tax professional with the international firm of Deloitte & Touche LLP in the Oakland office.
Jay's music was important to him. He enjoyed all aspects, especially song writing and performing. His spirit lives on in his music.
Mr. Luckey is survived by his parents, Jim and Jeanie Luckey of Vista; brother Craig Luckey of Savannah, Ga.; and maternal grandmother Elvera Michael of Centralia, Ill.
A memorial service is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, April 5, at All Saint's Episcopal Church in Vista with the Rev. Canon George T. Hemingway officiating.
The family suggests memorial donations to the Vista Teacher's Student College Scholarship Fund, PO Box, 1302, Vista, CA 92085-1302.

Holly R. Morford, 70
Holly R. Morford, 70, died March 30, 2001, at Palomar Medical Center. Born July 4, 1930, in the Los Angeles area, he moved to Escondido in 1960. He loved his Harley and his kids.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Mary Morford; son Larry Michael of Willits, son Keith Michael of Escondido; daughter Holly Morford of Florida; daughter Dolly Morford of Bishop; daughter Dollie Villa of Georgia; son Scott Michael of Temecula; daughter Tammy Boyden of San Bernardino; 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, at Alhiser-Comer Mortuary. Services will be held graveside at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 5, at Valley Center Cemetery.
Anyone who ever owned or rode a Harley is welcome.

Jena Moore, 17
FALLBROOK - Jena Marie Moore, 17, died Wednesday, March 28, 2001, at Scripps Hospital in San Diego.
Born Aug. 8, 1983, in Fallbrook she lived in Fallbrook all her life. She was a student at Fallbrook High School in the senior class of 2001. She was a member of the Fallbrook Presbyterian Church. She was a varsity cheer leader and active in choir and the school newspaper.
Ms. Moore is survived by her fiancee, Chase Massey of Fallbrook; mother Judy Derieux of Fallbrook; father Thomas Moore of Fallbrook; step-father Deron Derieux of Fallbrook; brother Wes Moore of Fallbrook; and grandmothers Vivian M. Werner of Wildomar; Lynn C. Schultz of Sun City; Wanda Cavanaugh of Valley Center and Gerda Moore of Sun City.
A memorial is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, April 7, at Mission San Antonio De Pala in Pala with the Rev. Marconi officiating. A reception will follow in Rainbow. A private cremation is planned.

June L. Evans, 80
ENCINITAS - June L. Evans, 80, died Thursday, March 29, 2001, at her home.
Born March 6, 1921, in Des Moines, Iowa, she lived in Encinitas for eight years. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Evans is survived by her husband of 60 years, Vernon L. Evans of Encinitas; sons Michael S. Evans of Encinitas, Paul F. Evans of Carlsbad, Vernon R. Evans of Carlsbad, Charles L. Evans of Encinitas; daughter and son-in-law Marian June and Edward Moeller of Bloomfield, N.Y.; grandchildren David, Theresa and Michael Evans, Charles, Michael and Nicholas Moeller, Jeanne and Summer Evans, Junie, Joshua and Jeremy Evans; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held Monday, April 2, at Eternal Hills Mortuary. A funeral service is scheduled for 1 p.m. today, April 3, at Eternal Hills Mortuary Chapel with Dr. Richard L. Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

Jesse Rodgers, 75
ESCONDIDO - Jesse Rodgers, 75, died Sunday, April 1, 2001, at his home.
Born June 19, 1925, in La Feria, Texas, he lived in Escondido for 30 years.
He was a self-employed auto mechanic. He enjoyed restoring old cars.
Mr. Rodgers was preceded in death by his son, Rodney L. Rodgers, in 1988.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary E. Rodgers of Escondido; sons Jesse R. Rodriguez of Carlsbad, Tom Rodgers of Escondido, Paul Rodgers of Vista, David Rodgers of San Diego and Jim Rodgers of Escondido; daughters Sherril Compere of Vista and Pat Rodgers of Escondido; brothers Frank Rodriguez of Fallbrook and Raymond Rodriguez of Waxahachi, Texas; sisters Anita Garcia of Harlington, Texas, Margaret Gonzalez and Amilia Hopgood, both of Waxachachi; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Private family services are planned.

Doral Piva, 92
ESCONDIDO - Doral May Piva, 92, died Monday, March 26, 2001, at her residence care in San Marcos of cardiac failure.
Born Nov. 25, 1908, in Oakland, she lived in Escondido for 25 years.
She had been house mother at Mills College in Oakland.
Mrs. Piva was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph A. Piva.
She is survived by her sons, Robert F. Piva of Borrego Springs and Ronald A. Piva of Vista; daughters Betty M. Tribuzio of Vista and Doral E. Galia of San Marcos; 13 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, April 14, at First United Methodist Church. Inurnment will be at Mountain View cemetery in Oakland.

Wayne Greene, 62
ESCONDIDO - Wayne R. Greene, 62, died Monday, April 2, 2001.
Born March 3, 1939, in Los Angeles, he lived in Escondido for nine years. He was retired from Shell Oil Co. and attended Palomar College. He served in the U.S. Navy in 1961. He enjoyed movies and writing movie reviews.
Mr. Greene was preceded in death by his grandmother Frieda McMahon. He is survived by his mother, Rhea Greene and father John Greene, both of Escondido; son and daughter-in-law David and Sylvia Greene of Austin, Texas; daughters and sons-in-law Debora and Leroy Moore of Guam and Deanna and Gerry Boudousquie of Waco, Texas; sister Judy Wilkins of Escondido; and grandchildren Brandon, Kyle, Jeremy, Samantha, Nicholas and Austin.
A memorial service is scheduled for 3 p.m. Thursday, April 5, at 225 S. Broadway, with the Rev. Gary Comer of New Heights Community Church officiating. A private cremation is planned.

Dorothy Erickson, 76
OCEANSIDE - Dorothy Ellen Erickson, 76, died Sunday, April 1, 2001, at Vista Knoll Convalescent facility.
Born July 23, 1924, in Lake Andes, S.D., she lived in Oceanside for 25 years. She was retired from Deutch Aeronautical Component Co.
Mrs. Erickson was preceded in death by her brother Dale Evans, and parents Amelia and Pete Evans. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Wallace Erickson of Oceanside; sons and daughters-in-law Ken Erickson of Cedar Rapids, Ill., Gary and Hilda Erickson of Coal Valley, Ill., and Wayne and Loretta Erickson of Colorado Springs, Colo., daughter Cindy Erickson of San Diego; brother and sister-in-law Donald and Alvina Evans of Spear Fish, S.D., and grandchildren Victoria and Veronica Erickson of Colorado and Tina and Anthony Erickson of Illinois.
A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, April 7, at Eternal Hills Mortuary with the Rev. David Plank officiating. A scattering of her cremains will take place on Monday, April 9, at Eternal Hills Memorial Park. A private cremation is planned.

Viola Knight, 90
ESCONDIDO - Viola M. Knight, 90, died Sunday, April 1, 2001 of heart failure.
Born April 14, 1910, in Truman, Minn., she lived in Escondido for 13 years. She was a homemaker and a member of House of Prayer Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Knight was preceded in death by her husband, Edward J. Knight, in March 1995. She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Tomas and Marlys Knight and Richard and Janet Knight; daughters and sons-in-law Patricia and Donald Portis, Kathleen Knight, and Judith and Gary Hubley; grandchildren Kathleen, Bradley, Christopher Pontis, Pattie Bjornson, James Roberson, Scott Knight, Randy Knight, Jennie Hansen, Theresa LaBlanc, Karen Ericson and Dee Dee Hubley; and 24 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. April 21, at House of Prayer Lutheran Church. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Fort Snelling National cemetery in Minneapolis.

Joe Gutierrez, 73
VISTA - Joe B. Gutierrez, 73, died Saturday, March 31, 2001, at his home.
Born Dec. 4, 1927, in Miami, Ariz., he lived in Vista for 47 years.
He was a purchasing supervisor at Camp Pendleton for 18 years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a sergeant.
He was a coach and manager with the Vista American Little League from 1956 to 1988.
Mr. Gutierrez is survived by his brother Rudolfo "Rudy" Gutierrez of Tijuana, Mexico; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation is scheduled from 5 to 9 p.m. with rosary at 7 p.m. Sunday, April 8, at Allen Bros. Mortuary, Vista Chapel.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 9, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
Interment will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park in Oceanside.

ESCONDIDO - Ina Lola Koch, 86, died Monday, April 2, 2001.
Born Oct. 19, 1914, in Lipscomb County, Texas, she lived in Escondido for 63 years. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Koch was preceded in death by her husband, Solomon Koch, in 1984, and daughter Patricia Karolyn Koch.
She is survived by son Nelson Koch of Escondido; daughter Kathleen Russell of Escondido; sisters Maybell Elise Stuman of Amarillo, Texas and Carla Louise Russell of Pleasanton, Texas; grandchildren Alfredo Guerrero and his wife Miwa Sugi, Solomon, and Christopher Guerrero.

Born July 13, 1913, in Corona, she lived in San Marcos for 22 years. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. McKinney is survived by her son Rick McKinney of Brea; daughter Judi Denton of San Marcos; grandchildren Loree Drescher, Christopher Denton, Michealyn McKinney, Andrea McKinney, Natalie Young, Carly Spring McKinney and Harmony Rose McKinney; and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, April 6, at Casitas del Sol Clubhouse. A private cremation is planned.

Born Aug. 22, 1899, in Olathe, Kan., she lived in Escondido for seven years. She was retired from Ohio Edison Co., as a senior home economist for 30 years.
Mrs. Clinger was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Clinger, in 1980.
She is survived by cousins Carolyn F. McDow of Escondido, Helen Nold of St. Joseph, Mo., and Glenna Roukes of Soquel.
A private entombment will take place at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier.

Jennie Coleman, 86
OCEANSIDE - Jennie Kennedy Coleman, 86, died Thursday, March 29, 2001, at Buena Vista Knoll.
Born Oct. 23, 1914, in Chattanooga, Tenn., she lived in Oceanside for 14 years.
She was the owner of Diana's Maternity Fashions from 1955 to 1987.
Ms. Coleman was preceded in death by her husband, General Sherdan Coleman, in 1978.
She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Betty and Leo Martin of Oceanside; grandchildren Connie Williams of Perris and Cheryl Didio of Houston; and 3 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, April 6, at Eternal Hills Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Mary Hendricks officiating.
Burial will take place at a later date in St. Petersburg, Fla. A private cremation is planned.

She was a salesperson with the Shaklee Corp. for more than 40 years.
Mrs. GaNung is survived by her husband, Art GaNung of Oceanside, daughters and sons-in-law Marie and Regis Fay of Chino Hills, Billie and Scott Clark of Alhambra, Debbie and Sam Cracchilo of Oceanside; son and daughter-in-law Dan and Christine Spinato of Poway; brother Rudy Marketto of Crystal Falls, Mich.; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

CARLSBAD - Rosa Seiler, 50, died Sunday, April 1, 2001, at Scripps Green Hospital of pancreatic cancer.
Born Dec. 3, 1950, in Pochun, South Korea, she lived in Carlsbad for 18 years.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
Mrs. Seiler is survived by her husband of 20 years, W. Royce Seiler of Carlsbad; son Charles J. Seiler of Carlsbad; daughter Stacy Tuttle; and sisters Kim Bu Soon and Kim Guem OK, both of Pochun, South Korea.
Rosary is scheduled for 7 p.m. today, April 4, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with the Rev. Raymond Moore officiating.
A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 5, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with the Rev. Steve McCall officiating.
Burial will follow at Eternal Hills Reflections with the Rev. Abbot Charles officiating.
