OCEANSIDE --- Kenneth R. Phillips, 32, died Monday, April 3, 2000, in Las Vegas.
Born Feb. 2, 1968, in Stockton, he lived in Oceanside for 32 years.
Mr. Phillips is survived by his mother and father, Carolyn and Charles Phillips of Oceanside; grandmother Florence Newman-Welden of Stockton; aunt June Miller of Orosi; brothers Richard Phillips of Fontana and Michael Phillips and Eric Phillips, both of Kansas; sisters Lisa Madson of Montclair and Cindy Rogers of Colorado; and numerous aunts and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, April 13, at Eternal Hills Mortuary. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with burial at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

Salvatore Marrone, 80
POWAY - Salvatore John Marrone, 80, died Monday, April 10, 2000, in Poway.
Born March 14, 1920, in New York, he lived in the Bronx, N.Y., and in Poway. He was a naval ship builder and draftsman for George C. Sharp for 55 years before retiring. He served in the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Marrone was preceded in death by his brother, Eugene Marrone. He is survived by his wife, Maria B. Marrone of the Bronx; son John S. Marrone of Yorktown Heights, N.Y.; daughter Susan Moerder of Poway; brothers Anthony Marrone and George Marrone, both of New York, and Joseph Marrone of New Jersey; sisters Johanna Schirone and Rosemarie Kalb, both of New York; and grandchildren Kathryn and Elizabeth Marrone of New York and Steven Moerder of Poway.
A funeral service will be held in the Bronx. Burial will take place at St. Raymond's cemetery in the Bronx.

SAN MARCOS - Katherine Whitney Stratton, 96. died Friday, April 7, 2000, at her home.
Born Jan. 15, 1904, in New York City, she lived in San Marcos for four years. She was a homemaker. She graduated in 1925 from Smith College in Massachusetts and was a member of the Inverness Yacht Club and past president of the Inverness Garden Club.
Mrs. Stratton was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. James Malcolm Stratton. She is survived by her sons, James M. Stratton Jr. of Tahoe City and Dwight W. Stratton Sr. of Escondido; daughters Patty Katherine Stratton of L'Alfas, Spain, and Margo Whitney Peters of Port Richmond; brother Josiah Dwight of San Francisco; sister Polly Downes of Northridge; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A private family memorial service will be held in Tahoe City at a later date.

RAMONA - Dorothy W. Feiner, 70, died Sunday, April 9, 2000, at a local hospital.
Born Sept. 21, 1929, in Ballinger, Texas, she lived in Ramona for 23 years. She was a real estate agent for 15 years, last working for Coldwell Banker. She was a member of the Real Estate Association and the First Christian Church of Ramona.
Mrs. Feiner is survived by her husband of 36 years, Jerry Feiner of Ramona; father W. J. Wheatley of Emory, Texas; daughter Jean Roberts of San Diego; brother James Wheatley of Duncanville, Texas; and sisters Wilma Wade of Emory, Fran Sime of San Diego and Patricia Wohlheuter of Atlanta.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 14, at Ramona Nuevo Memory Gardens, with the Rev. Bill Zabriskie officiating.

Born Feb. 19, 1930, in Hiawatha, Mich., she lived in Carlsbad. She was a homemaker and a member of Women's Club Carlsbad for 25 years.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Floyd E. Archey of Carlsbad; sons Larry L. Archey of Placentia and Glenn E. Archey of El Cajon; daughter Tonie M. Trinci of Oceanside; sisters Marietta East and Glendal Heminger; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Born March 6, 1920, in Sheldon, Iowa, he lived in San Marcos for 10 years. He was self-employed in real estate investment and sales and served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II.
Mr. Wegter is survived by his wife, Livian Wegter of San Marcos; and son Jay Wegter of Valencia.

Virgil Codner, 92
VISTA - Virgil "Virg" Harold Codner, 92, died Friday, April 7, 2000, in Vista.
Born March 31, 1908, in New London, Iowa, he lived in Vista. He was a 1926 graduate of New London High School and attended the University of Iowa and Draughn's Business College in Houston. He worked for Continental Engine and Budd Wheel in Detroit and for the Internal Revenue Service in Lee County, Iowa, retiring in 1968 after 30 years of service. He served in the U.S. Navy and in the Seabees in the Pacific from 1943 to 1945.
Mr. Codner was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Helen Dingman Codner, on Oct. 4, 1999; and his sister, Berdette Codner. He is survived by 19 nephews and nieces.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, April 14, at San Luis Rey Parish Chapel, with the Rev. Michel Gagnon officiating.

ESCONDIDO - William W. Luddy, 72, died Saturday, April 8, 2000.
Born Nov. 4, 1927, in Yerington, Nev., he lived in Escondido. He was a court clerk for the U.S. District Court and worked for the U.S. Postal Service in San Diego. He also worked for the Poway School District until January 2000. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church.
Mr. Luddy is survived by his wife of 51 years, Dorothy L. Luddy of Escondido; mother Christine Bergevin of Reno, Nev.; son and daughter-in-law Steve and Kathy Luddy of Poway; daughters and sons-in-law Dee Dee and Craig Timmons of Escondido, Terry and Steve Wright of Los Angeles, Patricia and Armando Arias of Monterey and Betty and Stan Lewandowski of La Mesa; brother Wayne Bergevin of Reno; 12 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

CANYON LAKE - William Swoboda, 80, died Thursday, March 23, 2000, of respiratory failure, at Menifee Valley Medical Center in Sun City.
Born Aug. 2, 1919, in Osceola, Neb., he lived in Canyon Lake for 18 years. He was an electrician for Hughes Aircraft for 23 years and served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1944 to 1946. He was a member of the Canyon Lake Twirlers.
Mr. Swoboda is survived by his wife, Dolores Swoboda of Canyon Lake; sons James Swoboda of Lincoln, Neb., and Steven Swoboda of Canyon Lake; brother Roy Swoboda of Beatrice, Neb.; sisters Mildred Uhl of Fremont and Betty Reid of Auburn, Neb.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Born Sept. 29, 1919, in Hale, Iowa, she lived in Sun City for 16 years. She was the owner of Towne Home Furnishings in Sun City from 1978 to 1981 and was a homemaker for 60 years. She was a missionary to Italy for two years and a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
Mrs. Towne is survived by her daughters, Corinne Dale of Irvine and Annette Burke of Monroe, Wash.; brother Malcom Riley of Florida; and three grandchildren.

Arianna was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ruth Grissom and Wayne Kennedy of Texas and Velma McClain of Oklahoma. Her father, Billy Ezell, died in the automobile accident with her.
