ESCONDIDO - Mary Louise Weightman, 83, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, in Escondido.
Born Oct. 26, 1916, in Greenwood, S.C., she lived in Escondido for 2 1/2 years. She was a hostess supervisor for TWA for 20 years.
Mrs. Weightman is survived by her husband of 43 years, Herbert G. Weightman of Escondido; sons Neil Weightman of La Canada and Craig Weightman of Glendale; sister Lois Carpen of Greenville; eight grandchildren; and 14 nephews and nieces.
A private cremation is planned.

Richard Rice, 75
OCEANSIDE - Richard Charles Rice, 75, died Friday, Jan. 21, 2000, of Alzheimer's disease at Lake Park Villas.
Born July 26, 1924, in Boulder, Colo., he lived in Oceanside for six years. He was a scout executive for the Boy Scouts of America and served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a 1st lieutenant, doing underwater demolition. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Kiwanis and Rotary Club.
Mr. Rice is survived by his son, Randall Scott Rice of Phoenix; daughters Kathleen Ann Thurston of Moorpark, Sheryl Lyn Dupuis of Vista and Diane Lee Rice of Escondido; and grandchildren Todd Jared Dupuis, Lyndie Brooke Dupuis, Aimee Nicole Dupuis, Amras Penda-Rice, Tristan Penda-Rice, Kalen Penda-Rice, Ashton Penda-Rice, Christopher James Rice, Kyle Thurston and Nicholas Thurston.
No service will be held at the request of the deceased.

Herman Pietsch, 84
ESCONDIDO - Herman John Pietsch, 84, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, in Escondido.
Born Oct. 23, 1915, in Bronx, N.Y., he lived in Escondido for 18 years. He was a nurseryman before retiring.
Mr. Pietsch was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Pietsch, in 1992. He is survived by his sons, Richard Pietsch of Burney, Robert Pietsch of Escondido, Peter Pietsch of Inglewood, Colo., and John Pietsch of Riverside; daughters Elaine Paladino of Colville, Wash., and Margaret Havens of Riverside; sisters Margaret Moura of Florida and Anna Perone of Staten Island, N.Y.; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
No service will be held at the request of the deceased. A private cremation is planned.

Benjamin Stovall, 89
POWAY - Benjamin L. Stovall, 89, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, in Poway.
Born Oct. 5, 1910, in Visalia, he lived in Poway for 37 years. He worked for San Diego Gas & Electric, National Steel Shipbuilding Co., and U.S. Navy Electronics Laboratory. He was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the U.S. Naval Institute. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War, retiring as a captain.
Mr. Stovall is survived by his wife of 67 years, Beatrice Stovall, of Poway; daughters Kathy Cummins of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; and grandchildren Benjamin, Peter, David, Angela and Elizabeth.

Paul Taylor, 62
RANCHO BERNARDO - Paul Fredrick Taylor, 62, died Friday, Jan. 21, 2000.
Born June 11, 1937, in Washington, D.C., he lived in Rancho Bernardo for 22 years. He was an operations research analyst for 28 years for the U.S. government and served in the U.S. Navy from 1961 to 1972. He was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, AFCEA and the U.S. Naval Institute. He was a member of the Rancho Bernardo Community Presbyterian Church choir and men's group and a board member of Casa de Esperanza Orphanage and a member of Friends of La Casa de Esperanza.
Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife, Ellie Taylor of Rancho Bernardo; aunt Louise Moss of Massachusetts; and cousins Rick Moss of North Carolina and Kathy Goulding of Massachusetts.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, at Poway-Bernardo Mortuary. A funeral service is scheduled for 4 p.m. Monday, Jan. 31, at Rancho Bernardo Community Presbyterian Church. Interment will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, at Dearborn Memorial Park in Poway.

Christopher Wrobel, 24
ESCONDIDO - Christopher John Wrobel, 24, died Friday, Dec. 3, 1999, from complications of diabetes.
Born July 19, 1975, in Brookfield, Ill., he lived in Escondido for 2 1/2 months.
Mr. Wrobel was preceded in death by his grandfather, Scott Harding. He is survived by his parents, Robert and Wendy Wrobel; grandparents Violet Scott Harding of Illinois and Chester J. and Ann Wrobel of Escondido; and sister Stacy Wrobel.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, Dec. 7, at Resurrection Catholic Church. A second service was held Tuesday, Jan. 4, at the First United Methodist Church in La Grange, Ill.
Teresa Wofford, 41
ENCINITAS - Teresa Ann Wofford, 41, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000.
Born Jan. 15, 1959, in St. Francis, Kan., she lived in Encinitas for the past 20 years. She was a volunteer at four school where her children attended and a member of North Coast Calvary Church.
Mrs. Wofford is survived by her husband of 15 years, Dr. Brian Wofford; parents Ed and Wanda Raile of Springfield, Mo.; sons Peter Wofford, Luke Wofford, Aaron Wofford and Elijah "Buba" Wofford; daughters Bekah Wofford, Lizzy Wofford, Anna Wofford and Esther Wofford; brother and sister-in-law Pete and Kay Raile; numerous uncles and aunts; nephews Travis and Trent; and nieces Kayla and Kandee.
A memorial service will be held at noon today, Jan. 28, at La Costa Canyon High School gymnasium in Carlsbad. Viewing is scheduled from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, at Eternal Hills Mortuary. A private burial will take place at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

ESCONDIDO - Charles Warren Kenyon, 60, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, at his home in Escondido.
Born Sept. 9, 1939, in Mitchell, Neb., he lived in Escondido for 33 years. He was a route salesman for Sparkletts Water for 25 years before retiring.
Mr. Kenyon is survived by his wife of 41 years, Loretta Kenyon of Escondido; sons and daughter-in-law Kevin Kenyon and Tim and Inke Kenyon, all of Escondido; brother Ronald Kenyon of Colorado; and grandchildren Chris Kenyon, Whitney Kenyon, Michaela Johansing, all of Escondido.

James Corbett, 81
ESCONDIDO - James Edward Corbett, 81, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, in Escondido.
Born Aug. 12, 1918, in New York City, he lived in Escondido for 18 years. He was an import/export executive with the Aluminum Co. of America, retiring in 1977. He was president of the Escondido Art Association from 1985 to 1987, a docent and docent coordinator for the Mathis Center and a volunteer at St. Vincent De Paul.
Mr. Corbett is survived by his nephew, James P. Harte of Cardiff; and niece Jacqueline Gerbino of Elmwood Park, N.J.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Escondido, with the Rev. Tom Maher officiating.

ESCONDIDO - Barbara Ruth Kuper, 94, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, in Escondido.
Born May 8, 1905, in Grand Haven, Mich., she lived in Escondido for 18 years. She was a missionary in Central America for 56 years.
Mrs. Kuper is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Curt Caspersen of Escondido; sisters Agnes LIttlefield of New York and Betty Gaynor of Florida; grandchildren Kevin Caspersen of Chandler, Minn., and Jill Roose of Pella, Iowa; and great-grandchild Lucas Roose of Pella.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, at Iglesia Latina Emanuel in Escondido, with the Rev. Federico Salas officiating. A private cremation is planned.

VISTA - George Owen Mann, 85, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, in Oceanside.
Born June 23, 1914, in Detroit, Mich., he lived in Vista for 40 years. He worked for Deutsch Co. and served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1945.
Mr. Mann was preceded in death by his wife, Alean A. Mann, in 1999. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Charlene and Herbert Davis of Vista; grandchildren Jeff, Jason, Holly and Hillary; and nine great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2, at Riverside National Cemetery, with the Rev. David Plank officiating.

William Finneran, 82
SAN MARCOS - William Joseph Finneran, 82, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, in San Diego.
Born June 17, 1917, in Boston, he lived in San Marcos for 14 years. He was a roofer for Union Local 33 for 30 years and served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus of St. Mark's Catholic Church.
Mr. Finneran is survived by his wife of 14 years, Mary F. Finneran of San Marcos; sons Brian Regan and James Regan, both of San Marcos; and daughter Suzanne M. Fitzpatrick of Escondido.
Visitation and viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 30, at Allen Brothers Mortuary, San Marcos Chapel. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 31, 2000, at St. Mark's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Brian Rogan officiating. Interment will take place at San Marcos Cemetery.

Mr. Seaberg was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Seaberg, in 1998. He is survived by his grandchildren Lynda, Barbara, Greg, Debbie, Tom, Susan and Joni Lynn; and 15 great-grandchildren.

John Bertics, 71
OCEANSIDE - John E. Bertics, 71, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, in Oceanside.
Born Oct. 20, 1928, in Cleveland, he lived in Oceanside for 10 years. He worked for the Carlsbad Police Department for 25 years and was the owner of Jay Bee Electric before retiring. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Mr. Bertics was preceded in death by his brothers, Steve Bertics, in 1993, and Robert Bertics, in 1989. He is survived by his previous wife of 34 years, Pearl Bertics of Carlsbad; son and daughter-in-law Paul and Sandy Bertics of Madison, Wis.; daughter and son-in-law Sandra and Steve Dries of Santee; grandchild Victoria Bertics; nephews Doug Bertics of Carlsbad and Bobby Bertics and John Bertics, both of Cleveland; and niece Jan Rogers of La Habra.
