Raymond Furgeson, 81

FALLBROOK - Raymond Calvin Furgeson, 81, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2000, in Fallbrook.

Born Oct. 10, 1918, in Ogden, Utah, he lived in Fallbrook for seven years. He was a custodian for Ogden City Schools for 18 years and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Fallbrook.

Mr. Furgeson is survived by his wife, Ruth Furgeson of Fallbrook; son and daughters-in-law Raymond Jr. and Renee Furgeson of Laguna Niguel; daughter Graceann "Angie" Furgeson of Fallbrook; sisters and brother-in-law Elva and Sid Rookhuyzen of Roy, Utah, and Darlene Kearl of Peterson, Utah; six grandchildren; one great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 23, at Myers Mortuary in Roy, Utah. A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 24, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 6th Ward in Roy. Interment will take place at Ben Lomond cemetery in North Ogden, Utah.

Patricia Kinney, 65

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Patricia J. Kinney, 65, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2000, in Anchorage.

Born Jan. 5, 1934, in Orleans, Neb., she lived in Anchorage for 40 years and previously lived in Fallbrook. She worked at Del Ray Packing Plant in Fallbrook.

Mrs. Kinney is survived by her husband of 32 years, Virgil Kinney of Anchorage; son Shawn Kinney of Anchorage; daughters Pam Witte of Kenai, Alaska, Linda Mishler of Anchor Point, Alaska, Debbie Pellitier of Seattle and Kathy Bendle of Anchorage; sister-in-law Barbara Thurston of Fallbrook; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, at the International Order of Odd Fellows cemetery in Fallbrook, with the Rev. Bernie Rapp of St. Peter's Catholic Church. Interment will follow. A gathering of family and friends will take place following the service at the Thurston home.

The family suggests memorial donations to the American Cancer Society, 1057 W. Fireweed Lane, Anchorage, AK 99503.

Margaret Fults, 90

HOOD RIVER, Oregon - Margaret Lillian Fults, 90, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000, at Evergreen Health and Rehabilitation Center in The Dales, Oregon.

Born May 25, 1909, in Eagle Rivers, Wis., she lived in Escondido from 1941 to 1975 where she owned a ranch and worked for J.C. Penney.

Mrs. Fults was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton Fults, in 1979. She is survived by her son, Donald L. Fults of Hood River; grandchildren Deborah DeHaven and David Fults, both of Hood River, and Don Fults and Daniel Fults of Eugene, Ore.; and 11 great-grandchildren.

a private family memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 22, at Anderson Funeral Home in Hood River. Burial will take place in Escondido, next to her husband.

Kevin Stevens, 41

ESCONDIDO - Kevin Stevens, 41, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000.

Born July 20, 1958, in La Jolla, he lived in Pauma Valley and Escondido for most of his life. He attended Orange Glen High School and graduated from Dunn Prep School in Los Olivos in 1978. He was a self-employed portrait photographer and proprietor of Kevin Stevens Services and "Name Guy" gifts.

Mr. Stevens was preceded in death by his father, Horace J. Stevens; mother Elizabeth Stevens; and brother Sherman Stevens. He is survived by his wife, Maty Stevens; son Sherman J. Stevens; and stepmother Marge Stevens.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, at North County Baptist Church in Escondido.

Steven Smith, 53

CARLSBAD - Steven Michael Smith, 53, died Monday, Jan. 3, 2000, at his home in Carlsbad.

Born July 6, 1946, in Amarillo, Texas, he lived in Carlsbad for three years. He was a member of the Hawaiian Laborers Union 225.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his mother, Maxine Smith, in 1996. He is survived by his father, Leonard Smith of Carlsbad; daughter Malia Mokihina Smith of Kapaa, Hawaii; and brothers, twin Larry Smith and Bill Smith, both of Carlsbad.

A private cremation is planned with cremains to be scattered at sea off Hawaii.

Eternal Hills Mortuary is handling arrangements.

Eugene Kelly, 82

SAN MARCOS - Eugene O. Kelly, 82, died Monday, Jan. 17, 2000, in San Marcos.

Born Jan. 24, 1917, in Morristown, N.J., he lived in San Marcos for six years. He was a member of the Hazel Hurst Foundation for the Blind where he trained dogs to become companions and caretakers.

Mr. Kelly is survived by his wife of 33 years, Lillian Kelly of San Marcos; sons Robert Kelly of Tacoma, Wash., and Fred Kelly of Lake Mathews; daughters Susan Murdock and Kathleen Kelly, both of San Marcos, and Sharon Kelly of Costa Mesa; grandchildren Mike, Craig, Michelle, Terri, Darren, Josh, Sean, Chris and Robin; and great-grandchildren Ian, Sydney and Cameron.

Corrine Edmondson, 92

ORLAND - Corrine H. Edmondson, 92, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000.

Born May 1, 1907, in Las Cruces, N.M., she previously lived in Fallbrook for many years. She attended Downey High School in Downey and was a member of the Fallbrook Womens Club.

Mrs. Edmondson was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Edmondson; and three daughters. She is survived by her son, Jack Edmondson of Orland; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held Friday, Jan. 14, at F.D. Sweet & Son Chapel in Orland. Burial will take place at Fallbrook Masonic Cemetery.

Ruth Kingsley, 74

SUN CITY - Ruth Naomi Kingsley, 74, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2000, at her home in Sun City.

Born Nov. 2, 1925, in Detroit, she lived in Sun City for 17 years. She was a homemaker for 30 years and was on the Elks Bowling League. She was a Sweet Adeline dancer in Temple City.

Mrs. Kingsley is survived by her husband, Edwin Kingsley of Sun City; daughter Dawn Moak of Simi Valley; and two grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, at Little Church of the Flowers, Forest Lawn, Glendale. A private cremation is planned.

Joseph Harris, 68

SUN CITY - Joseph James Harris, 68, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000, at Devonshire Care Center in Hemet.

Born April 30, 1931, in Memphis, Tenn., he lived in Sun City for five years. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950 to 1977 and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Mr. Harris is survived by his son, Gary Harris of Alexandria, Va.; daughter Cathy Henderson of Menifee; brothers David Harris of Romance, Alaska, and I.A. Harris Jr. of Eads, Tenn.; sisters Ruth Cox of Sun City and Mary Ricotta of Rockford, Ill.; and grandson Ryan Joseph Rubio.

Visitation was held Wednesday, Jan. 19, at Miller Jones Mortuary. A funeral service followed, with the Rev. James Dale officiating. Burial is scheduled at Riverside National Cemetery.

Ben Gordon, 86

MURRIETA - Ben Harvey Gordon, 86, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, at Ember Care in Perris.

Born Dec. 25, 1913, in Paris, he lived in Murrieta for 20 years. He was an accountant for the Internal Revenue Service for 40 years and served in the military.

Mr. Gordon is survived by his stepson, David Goldman of Salem, Ore.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 1:15 p.m. Friday, Jan. 21, at Riverside National Cemetery. Burial will follow.

George Watts, 89

SUN CITY - George Warren Watts, 89, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000, at Plott Nursing Home in Ontario.

Born Sept. 4, 1910, in Dexter, Texas, he lived in Sun City for 31 years. He was a self-employed painting contractor in California for 30 years and served in the military.

Mr. Watts is survived by his wife, Clara Watts of Sun City; sons Marvin Watts of Brookside, Utah, and Loid Watts of Hacienda Heights; daughter Carol Crow of Rancho Cucamonga; sister Oreitta Woolinger of Fresno; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; six stepgrandchildren; and four great-stepgrandchildren.

Visitation was held Wednesday, Jan. 19, at Miller-Jones Mortuary & Crematory, Sun City. A funeral service followed at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Bill Carnes officiating. Burial will take place at Houston National cemetery in Houston.

Lorraine Yates, 77

SUN CITY - Lorraine Eugene Yates, 77, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000, at Menifee Valley Medical Center.

Born May 21, 1922, in Minnesota, she lived in Sun City. She was a fashion designer for 40 years and a member of the Sun City Church of Religious Science and the Menifee Woman's Club.

Mrs. Yates is survived by her daughter, Karen Yates of Redlands.

A private inurnment is planned.

The family suggests memorial donations to the American Lung Association, 441 MacKay Drive, San Bernardino, CA 92408.

Mary Pierce, 85

MENIFEE - Mary Enith Pierce, 85, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000, at Inland Valley Regional Medical Center in Wildomar.

Born Dec. 4, 1914, in Burlson County, Texas, she lived in Menifee for 20 years. She worked in retail sales at various locations for 10 years and was a member of the California Game Breeders Association.

Mrs. Pierce is survived by her sons, Bohn Dampier of Menifee and Robert Pierce of Roseville; daughter Joyce Guidotti of Sacramento; two grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 21, at Miller-Jones Mortuary Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Burial will take place at Riverside National Cemetery.

Adeline Carroll, 82
VISTA - Adeline Evangeline Carroll, 82, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000, in Vista.

Born March 28, 1917, in Noonan, N.D., she lived in Vista for 33 years. She was a private domestic cook for 22 years and a member of the Grandmothers' Club of Escondido, Degree of Pocahontas, Ne-Po-Mah Council 281 in Vista.

Mrs. Carroll is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and James Walker of Vista; sisters Evelyn Souther Presky, Bonnie Kjelbertsen, Deraine Freelander and Violet Wilson, all of Minot, N.D., LaVonne Birney of Minneapolis and Lois Skrede of Devil's Lake, N.D.; grandson James R. Walker Jr.; and a large extended family.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, at Allen Brothers Mortuary, Vista Chapel, with the Rev. B.D. Droegemueller officiating. A private family inurnment will take place at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

Remo Mancini, 73

POWAY - Remo T. Mancini, 73, died Monday, Jan. 17, 2000, in Escondido.

Born July 31, 1926, in Bridgeport, Conn., he lived in Poway for 30 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and Vietnam and was a member of the Balboa Park Dance Club, Poway Senior Center, House of France, Retiree Affairs and the Catholic Church.

Mr. Mancini was preceded in death by his son, Anthony Mancini. He is survived by his wife, Rolande Mancini of Poway; three sons; five daughters; brother Valio Mancini of Modesto; and 16 grandchildren.

A Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, at San Rafael Parish in San Diego, with the Rev. Lloyd V. Bourgeois officiating. Interment will take place at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery.

The family suggests memorial donations to St. Claire's Home, 243 S. Escondido Blvd., Suite 120, Escondido, CA 92025-4116.

North County Cremation is handling arrangements.
