10-07 Arp, Danby, Dorsey, Driver, Forbes

What I know:
Two children of Heinrich and Caroline (Danby) Arp made their way from Minnesota to Placer County.

  • Frances Helena Arp, born Oct 1892 (1900 census), married after 1920 Bliss Harry Forbes (FindaGrave memorial); she died 9 Jun 1928 and was buried in Dutch Flat Cemetery. (Thank you Kathie Marynik for the photo which has her grave front and center so clearly!). Her husband, a railroad blacksmith and horseshoer for the US Army (FindaGrave memorial), died 23 Feb 1975 (SSDI) in Placer County (CADI) and was buried in Dutch Flat Cemetery; I've found no record so far of him remarrying.

  • Raymond Ellsworth Arp, born 6 Aug 1894 in Minnesota (WW1 Draft Registration), married Violette Virginia Dorsey about 1928 (1930 census, WW2 Draft Registration). Raymond died 1 Nov 1954 in Placer County (CADI). Violette was born 28 Feb 1901 in California (1930 census, CADI). Violette Virginia Driver died 15 Aug 1996 in Sacramento County (CADI). One Ancestry.com tree has Violette marrying second Lester Driver; I have no other details or proof of that.

What I want to find out:

How did Frances and Raymond come to Dutch Flat? Who came first? Is there an obituary or other news about Frances or Bliss Harry? Marriage record? Did Bliss Harry remarry? Where was Raymond buried? Is there an obituary? What did he do in Dutch Flat? Marriage record? And for Violette, who did she marry second, and is there a marriage record? Where is she buried?

Are there records in Dutch Flat or Placer County that can help me answer these questions? And what else should I be asking to flesh out their stories?

10-02 Schwab Hello, I have been researching the Schwab Family in Placer County. I have a copy of the Iowa Hill Mining District Map show the mine of Charles F. Schwab, at T14N, R10E, Sectons 3 and 10 (Centennal Mine???). Can someone find a copy of the recorded claim? He died in Iowa Hill on 7 April 1878. Alan Rossing, Monterey, CA Alan 08/08/10
10-01 Franks, Stephenson, Young Looking for confirmation of family history. John and Elizabeth Franks are in household of Mary Franks in Roseville, Placer, California in 1880 Census. Two children, James William age 2 and Emily age 7mos.

Family history tells of 2 or 3 children getting into chicken feed which poisoned them and at least 2 of them died.

Interested in finding Elizabeth's parents James and Susan (or Sarah) Young, family is from Maine. Since Elizabeth married so young (age 16) I wondered if her parents were in the area as well. By 1900 Elizabeth is married to Francis Marion Stephenson. Any help would be very appreciated. 		Lynda 08/05/10
