MINUTES OF SESSION
Constitution
We whose names are hereunto subscribed, believing
the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments to be the word of God. The
only infallible rule of faith and practice; Also believing ourselves to
be Christians, and desiring to enjoy more fully the blessings and privaleges
of the Gospel and ordinances of the Church.
Approving of the doctrine, discipline, government,
and usages of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church as exercised in these
United States – Agree to form ourselves into a Congregation to be know
by the name of the Fresno Congregation.
Within the bounds of the Sacramento Presbytery,
to which we look for supplies of the Word and ordinances of the Church,
and to whom we promise submission in the Lord.
And that we will support the Gospel as God may prosper
us, Entered into and agreed to this the 17th day of February
1874.
Bros A.A. Skaggs, H.S. Patterson and Elders, Bro
Crowder was ordained in the usual way. Bros Skaggs and Patterson having
been previously ordained.

1874, February 17th [First entry]
At a meeting held at the house of Bro. Hope, the
following members of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church being present and
desiring to organize a congregation proceeded.
H. S. Patterson, Maredian Patterson, J.G. Crowder,
Martha L. Crowder, A.A. Skaggs, E.M. Skaggs, A.M. Hope, Sarah H. Hope,
Sarah F. Hope, J.B. Hope, L.J.Eastin, J.J. King.
Elected bros H.S. Patterson, A.A. Skaggs, and J.G.
Crowder ruling elders. Bro J.G. Crowder was ordained, bros Patterson and
Skaggs having been previously ordained. After which the session met opened
with prayer by Rev. L. Dooly.
Bro J.G. Crowder was then elected Clerk of the Session.
On motion Bro Crowder was then elected representative
to attend the next meeting of the Sacramento Presbytery of the C.P. Church
which
meets on Friday before the 4th Sabbath in april 1874 at Collegeville,
San Joaquin Co. Cal. Bro A.A. Skaggs was elected alternate.
The Session then closed with prayer by bro. Ptterson.

1905, Sept. 16 [Last entry]
Session of C.P. Church of Borden met at P. Church
at Madera at 2 o’clock P.M. was opened with prayer by A.A. Skaggs.
A motion was made and carried that Bro. and Sister
Garretts names be dropped from the roll. Sam Crowder was chosen to represent
Synod.
Session voted that the money remaining in the treasure
be paid to Bro. Knowles on his salary which was $7.35.
A motion was made and carried that we dismiss church
services for the present time. Also that the clerk notify the deacon to
collect what he could for Bro Knowles salary.
A motion was made and carried that the session meet
on the last Saturday in Dec. Session was closed with prayer by Rev. Wiley
Knowles.
