Lake County, California

ST. MARY'S CEMETERY

The original St. Mary's Cemetery was located in the town of Lakeport, next to the Catholic church. The cemetery and graves were later moved to the present location.
At the south end of Lakeport, turn west from Highway 29 onto Highway 275 toward Hopland. The cemetery is about 8/10 of a mile on the right.

LAKE COUNTY BEE, April 13, 1899
Eleven bodies were dug up at the old Catholic cemetery and reinterred in the Manning cemetery this week, making sixteen bodies that have been removed within a month. The following families have had all of their deceased members removed: Schweikert, 5; Christie, 5; Gaddy, 4; Daly, 2.
(St. Mary's Cemetery is located on former Manning property)

This is the older part of St Mary's Cemetery from the front hedge to the first vehicle running path.
Left side of the gate graves are not in precise rows. On the right side rows of graves are more even.

Row One is closest to the front hedge as you look in from the outside. The left side of the gate is first and reads right to left going from the central path. The right side of the gate reads left to right going from the central path.

(Thanks to Marcie A. Rosenzweig of McMinnville, Oregon for the transcriptions)

Following are the graves in this cemetery:
