Rosenback Services: Thur., July 29, 1:30 p.m. Leonard A. Rosenback passed away July 16, 2004, at his San Francisco home. Dear uncle of Alma Mae Fullerton of Palos Verdes Estates, John MacFarlane of Cerritos, Bill MacFarlane of Los Angeles, and Ed Rosenback of Vallejo. Leonard was a 1926 graduate of Bakersfield High School and served his printing apprenticeship with The Bakersfield Californian in the late 1920s. He then worked for the Santa Rosa Press Democrat in the 1930s before moving to San Francisco to begin his career with the San Francisco Examiner, at that time the flagship of the Hearst Newspaper chain. He was married to the former Gertrude Schuckman, a coloratura soprano with the San Francisco Opera and later a teacher in the San Francisco schools, who passed away in 1966. Their son, Charles L. Rosenback, is recently deceased. His interests included camping, fishing, gardening, historical trivia and politics. A native of San Francisco, age 95. Friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Thursday, July 29, 2004, at 1:30 p.m. at Santa Rosa Memorial Park and Mortuary, 1900 Franklin Ave, Santa Rosa (707)542-3154.
