She was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to George and Helen Chamis and was the younger sister of her late brother, John Chamis who has also passed on. Vula was a mother of three daughters, a member of the St. George Greek Church in Bakersfield and loved singing in the church choir before her lengthy illnesses took hold of her. Vula is survived by her husband of 47 years, Gerry Collis, her three daughters, Elaine Collis, Georgia Collis and Penny Lyles wife of Ernie Lyles. She was blessed to have two grandsons, Stavros Cereghino and John Lyles, who were the apples of her eye. Services for Vula will be private at the St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Bakersfield.
