Sandra K. White 

June 7, 1952 – June 28, 2004

Sandra Karol White, 52, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 28, 2004, at 
her sister’s home in Tehachapi.  

Sandee, as she liked to be called, was born June 7, 1952 to Thomas and 
Catherine White in Portsmouth, Va., where her dad was a Navy pilot at the 
time. She graduated from high school in Dennison, Iowa, and from college in 
LeMar, Iowa, with a double major (English and Spanish).

Sandee loved time with friends and family; she also loved a good joke, 
participating in theater and music, journal writing, penning stories and 
poetry, reading and traveling.

Because of her undiagnosed degenerative disorder, she moved to Shafter in the 
mid-70s to be near her parents and eventually moved into the Shafter 
Convalescent Hospital permanently. 

Thanks to Optimal Hospice, she was able to spend her final few days in the 
former home of her parents and current home of her sister, where she had 
visited many times and shared a lot of laughter and good times. 

In the years before the illness took over completely, Sandra managed to pack 
in many happy times and experiences, and throughout her entire life she was 
loved by many. 

She is survived by her older sister Marilda and numerous aunts, uncles, and 
cousins, as well as many friends, including residents and staff alike at the 
convalescent hospital.  

Cremation services were handled by Wood Family Funeral Services in Tehachapi. 
A private service for the extended family will be held in Iowa at a later 
date. 

In lieu of flowers, her sister requests that donations in memory of Sandra K. 
White be made to Optimal Hospice, 4800 Stockdale Highway, Bakersfield, CA 
93309.
