Copeland Feb. 16, 1919 - Jan. 16, 2005 Carl passed away peacefully at home, January 16, 2005, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his adoring and devoted wife of 36 years, Maxine; son, Donald and daughter, Corine, both of Canada; and son, Kevin of San Diego. He will be sadly missed by his step-children, Randall, Judy, Deborah, Ian, and their families, all of Canada. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Carl was predeceased by his parents, Coma and Cora Copeland; and his son, Cary. Born in Coalinga, CA. February 16, 1919, Carl grew up in Long Beach area, graduated high school and college, then began a lifelong career in the oil and gas industry. Initially, Carl followed in his fathers footsteps and joined Superior Oil Co. which later led to Canadian Superior Oil, from which he retired after a total of 42 years of service. During his distinguished career, Carl traveled throughout the world while pursuing oil and gas reserves, spending time in exotic locations such as New Zealand and Egypt. After retiring in 1980, Carl and Maxine returned to Kern County and settled in southwest Bakersfield, where they have since resided. The family wished to thank Dr. J. Foster Campbell and Dr. Dean Davis of the Florence Wheeler Cancer Center, Coram, Odyssey Hospice, and Caring Touch, Inc. for their tender care, and also the many friends for their support. Friends of Carl and Maxine are invited to join in a celebration of Carls life to be held at El Cazador Restaurant (Carls favorite) 3500 Truxtun Ave., Bakersfield, from 4 7 p.m.,, Saturday, February 5, 2005.
