He was born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to John and Myrtle (Brown) Waugh. His family moved to Torrance, CA where he spent his youth. As a young man he moved to Kern County to work in the oil fields. He retired from ARCO as a draftsman after 36 years. Bill met the love of his life, Louise Bailey in 1938. They were married in September 1940 and celebrated their 64th anniversary. They have two daughters. Bill was a World War II Veteran serving in Europe. He received an honorable discharge in 1947. His favorite pastimes were family, friends, golfing and bowling. His wit and sense of humor were with him to the end. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his brother and best friend, Elree (Jimmie) Waugh. He is survived by his wife, Louise; daughters, Evalyn Willis and Linda (Paul) OReilly; grandchildren, David OReilly, Billy (Sherree) OReilly, Greg (Alicia) OReilly and Leslie Willis; great-grandchildren, Meghan, Payton and Matthias OReilly; sister-in-law, Margaret Crain; niece, Sydney Zuvella; and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to give special thanks to their son-in-law, Paul OReilly and Odessy Hospice for all their assistance and loving care. There will be no viewing. Graveside services will be held at Greenlawn Southwest Memorial Park, 2739 Panama Ln., in the Lakeview Section on Friday, January 7, 2005, at 2:30 p.m. Chaplain Pat Roberts will officiate. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting contributions to the American Heart Association or a favorite charity.
