Theodies Rivers, Sr.

Theodies Rivers was born September 6, 1911, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He moved 
to Bakersfield, California in 1940. 

His first job in Bakersfield was working for Oscar Rudnick at the Kern Valley 
Packing Company. After the packing house disbanded he began working for the 
Santa Fe Railroad Company until his retirement in 1976.

Theodies Rivers, Sr. is preceded in death by his wife, Ella Mae and four 
children, Theodies, Jr., Betty, Lenord and Ophelia Rivers. He leaves to 
cherish his memory and celebrate his homegoing his daughters, Meallean 
Creswell and husband, Joseph, Ruby James and husband, Tommy all of 
Bakersfield, CA, Jeanette Wilder and husband, Timothy of Jacksonville, FL; his 
son, Theopris Rivers and wife, Bobbie of Pomona, CA; thirty-three loving 
grandchildren and other loving relatives and cherished friends.

The Viewing and visitation starts Sunday, December 19, 2004, at 1 p.m. with an 
hour of meditation to be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Chapel of Ruckers 
Mortuary for Theodies Rivers, Sr., 93, who passed away December 13, 2004 in 
Bakersfield, California.

His homegoing celebration will be held Monday, December 20, 2004, at 11:00 
a.m., at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 825 California Avenue. Pastor 
Hiawatha T. Calhoun is officiating with interment to follow at Greenlawn 
Southwest Cemetery.
